Yep, the forced friendship *is* irritating. He's not the only one with whom Shepard is friends with no matter what, but he's among the worst. That's not really a problem for me but yeah, it'd be nice to be able to choose if Shepard likes his squadmates or not.

Worst case scenario, you can kill him.

He's a required recruitment in ME2, IIRC.

I'm probably going to get a lot of flak for saying this, but ME3 Garrus was really...boring. He was much more interesting in ME1 and ME2. If we treat ME3 as a standalone game, then Garrus really isn't all that interesting. I like him because he is a well-established character from the previous games.

Also, I don't consider optional content to be "forced". All interactions with Garrus in ME3 are optional (can die in ME2). Presumably, if you disliked him, you'd have gotten rid of him before ME3. Easy.

If you really didn't care, why did you let him live to get to ME3? If you really didn't care, you would'nt have done his loyalty mission, if you didnt care you would have let him do the vent run.

If you really didn't care, he would have died in ME2.

Garrus is tied for being my favorite squadmate in the series (though *NOT* as an LI), but he is as forced as any character in the series. If Shepard interacts with Garrus at all in ME2 and ME3 the only dialogue options he or she has are, "You're my bro," "You're my bestest bro," or "Lets have sex."

Not exactly a lot of options. The player can't choose to have Shepard dislike Garrus.

Now that being said, I never quite understood fans complaining over not having the option to have Shepard dislike certain squadmates. The player isn't Shepard anymore than someone reading a book is the protagonist, even if it is written from the hero's point of view. You guide his story but you don't define every little detail of it. Also to be honest, it wouldn't make a lick of sense to have Shepard not get along with people he's literally fought and bled with, and who have risked their lives countless times for him or her, and vice versa.

His having Shepard's back even if it means they are both headed to hell. His random lines while running about (they all say some crazy random stuff at times so I'm not sure if he got all the good ones...)

This. If you disregard Tali's history and content in ME1 and ME2, then I would say that she is borderline annoying in ME3. I especially disliked how she said "Shepard, you can't choose the geth over my people." I can only imagine how much worse it is for people who don't know about her background and development from ME1 and ME2.

Probably a really unpopular opinion, but whatever, it's still my opinion.

Except for maybe Zaeed and Wrex... no. All other males are pretty pathetic.
And a pass for Joker and Mordin, but mainly for comedic value and smarts.

Jacob = Yes-man with cheesy lines
Grunt = one dimensional
Legion = lacking that emotional thing
Vega = one dimensional like Grunt... tho he had potential!

He is a sniper with a deep voice and certain renegade traits which make him "the badass" of the squad. These guys are always liked.

As for the female fans: He is a grown man. He is like the alien version of Jason Statham.

Javik is a bigot, but a humorous and fairly well-written one. Ironically, Legion provides lots of accidental comedy.

Are you serious? So that is how you describe those characters and Garrus is superior? I'm still waiting for Garrus to have a personality instead of clinging to Shepards.

Take for example the London goodbye scenes. You can accept Liara's gift, you can refuse it...and if you ignored her on the Normandy she doesn't even offer it. It's more or less the same with the other squadmates: a friendly response and a more neutral one. Garrus? You have two options for a response to him: "There is no Shepard without Vakarian" or "Shepard and Vakarian storming heaven". Or the speech Shepard is giving to him on the citadel about Garrus being his/her only true friend.  If he survives ME2, he's not only Shepards friend...he's her best friend.

So you're saying if you don't talk to gar, AT ALL, you still get the exact same dialogue? I would have thought he would be affected by how much you talk to him like the others. Can anyone confirm how a completely neglected garrus acts like at the end of the game? I mean no talking to him whatsoever until priority earth. I know the very idea is blasphemous but this is for science!
