Ok, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section but this sounds like 'Technical Support' to me

I am considering buying a physical copy of the first game since I am getting rid of my Xbox360

Now I go to Amazon to purchase it however I see this customer review rating it a 1/5 due to this SecuROM installation limit thing

I wasn't sure if this was just hype or if it was seriously as bad as people were making it out to be...

Anyway, I head to the Mass Effect wiki and it states that
' After criticism, this aspect of the DRM was removed from the PC version
on 9th May 2008. The PC version can be authenticated five times.
However, later copies of Mass Effect did not contain any internet
authenticating activation mechanisms, allowing it to be installed
limitlessly
'

Now...what exactly does this mean and is it true?

Do I understand this correctly? If I buy a physical copy, there will not be any form of authentication? I won't have any installation limits? I will be BUYING the game and not 'renting' it for some untold amount of time?

Hoping for the best

If they say they removed the DRM, then I guess that's the tuth. To be honest, while I was not a fan of the DRM when I first bought the game, it's not that bad. There is a limit of five installations on five unique machines, but if you unsinstall the game, you get one activation back. I've installed this game a dozen times and never reached the activation limit.
