RedJohn, I wonder if those guys that were telling you that the Batarian Soldier was garbage thought for a moment that perhaps the fact that you were the only person NOT playing an infiltrator was a factor in you dying, and I quote, "3 times in wave 1". With 3 GIs, that would have left you as the only person to get all of that enemy aggro while they were cloaked.

Obviously they missed the manual.

But for reals, the batarian Soldier is perhaps the best character without dodge along with the destroyer and kroguard.

Just because someone else sucks with a class dosnt mean everyone sucks with said class, I for example cant play a batarian soldier to save my life but im quite proud of my exploits with the turian soldier.

MY issue with the batarian soldier is the ballistic blades animation, I hate being forcefully exposed like that for such a (relatively) large period of time especially on a no-dodge type character.

People are idiots, RJ. If I saw your name pop up in my lobby, you could bring a level 1 female quarian engineer with a Shuriken, and I'd sit back and be a spectator to you soloing the whole thing.

I think the Batarian Soldier is pretty good, but he gets outclassed pretty heavily by the Destroyer. Then again, other than the plain Human Soldier, everything gets pretty heavily outclassed by the Destroyer.


Long story short: People in lobbies are idiots sometimes. I don't even argue with them anymore. Whenever anyone now puts up a kick vote for anything besides some clown sitting there not-ready until the end of Entropy, I just leave. I have no patience for 12 year old morons who are somehow allowed on the internet.

bad players don't know what they don't know. the bat soldier is awesome and all the BSN people know your a great player. its their loss. they probably always fail with the best set ups anyway

I got kicked by a bunch of Russians for bringing my N7 Paladin. Russians are not very tolerant of non-GI/Destroyer classes.

Maybe they were farming and thought about using high dps characters with camping. I was farming with friends on Glacier (Platinum) yesterday and a guy (N7 80, if that matters at all) enters with a Batarian soldier with Revenant 2. He wouldn't fit in our strategy, so we told him we will kick and we did.
As for your case, well they definitely lost a good player.

You might be joking but I've play a lot with RedJohn, I had another account but for some technical issues I decided to have another one, I used to play with RJ since my old account and so do I with this new one, and he has actually soloed wave 10 platinum once with a Quarian female Engineer, of course, he had a good gun, but he did the 4 device objective alone and kill them alone because the other players me included were instakilled, the same in other games, I've seen the guy playing that batarian like nobody can even think in try it.

I've seen him playing too many times and I can see that he's legit with his solos, and one of the best players here if not the best when he doesn't have lag  lol

Kicking for batarian soldier is not clever, is a great class, one of the most powerful ones.





I used to be kicked for russians too, they used to yell funny things and then vote for kick.

Glad you posted this, RJ. I was kicked from a Plat Geth lobby yesterday for bringing my FQE with an Indra VII and Scorpion III. I usually do well with her against Geth because I really leverage her hacking ability, especially during R2 detours. No explanation, no requests, just instantly began getting red X's. I guess if folks will kick you, they'll kick anyone.

 Not gonna be falcon punching a lot of bosses on platinum though.. I can see the exploding knives being useful in situations such as camping the tiny room in firebase glacier or behind the counter of firebase white. I like the soldier myself, but I just don't see him being at his best when most of the screen is filled with bosses and his main damaging abilities require him to get in close. As I said though, it's perfectly fine when there is an area to funnel the bosses to.

Oh, dear God no.

But Ballistic Blades are glorious- they stagger everything in a huge radius and then explode. Give him a Graal or a Plasma Shotgun and he'll stagger everything all the time forever. It's not like you have to be right on top enemies to use his blades or grenades, but he is at a disadvantage in more open areas.

I always host anymore becuse of the rampant farming, so if anyone asks me to change character, they are quite SOL, good, no, yes, the QME and QFE/I are not exactly super amazing on Platinum, and neither are the old human classes except soldier because of damage and defense scaling and neither is the drell or asari vanguard, Krogans also still need help in the obvious areas that BW says they were going to fix months ago + 40 HP regeneration per second, at the store -stop being lazy and go buy it.

Batarians look like old men in thrift store pajamas.  Especially in the character screen and especially their ass.  They're like the anti-asari. (I wouldn't kick one for this; I just won't be standing behind them as often as I might with... other classes.)

I haven't played on in a while, but this thread is reminding me how much fun B-blades are.  And it does seem like it would be a great platinum build.

Would it make more sense vs. platinum bosses to go damage/recharge/damage?
Damage >> Radius  since you're focusing on 2-3 boss types instead of 3+ mooks most of the time.
Range = Recharge If you like heave weapons I'd say recharge is better.
Dam/Dur >> Exploding  Exploding won't kill bosses.  Duration will cancel shield/barrier recharging.  I'd say damage is better unless exploding blades consistently staggers platinum bosses.

Thoughts?

I don't understand this mentaility. There is NO BENEFIT WHATSOEVER for promoting. There is no reason to ever promote unless your want your N7 to be higher. Once you hit 120 you are maxed. There are cards to respec (which even remove the dreaded first point that promoting won't) so that isnt a reason to promote.

Why do people on this forum demonize players who don't promote when there is literally 0 incentive to promote (other than satisfying the elitist a-holes who wont play with people who arnt N7 25632 ONRY)?

Well, to be honest I never really used the Batarian Soldier effectively until I saw the thread you posted about your solo time on Glacier with him. I would never have kicked someone for using the Batarian Soldier though, even before I knew what kind of destruction he is capable of.
