Given the weird "kortana in your brain" thing from ME3 and the content shown of 4 thus far... I'd say that's a fair possibility.

@MacNasty and Ar7emis, since you guys are very well informed about Halo universe,
could you please tell me anything about what happens to the Arbiter after Halo3. Thanks.

As you already know I've been sleeping, want to know about my old pal. :D

Er... what? You know that Synthesis is achieved through the use of the Crucible, right? How exactly does the existence of Cortana (who has been in the series since the very beginning) make it a "fair possibility" that Halo will end the same way as Mass Effect?

The Arbiter returned to his homeworld Sanghelios in order to try to settle things down there, since many were not aware of the split with the Covenant and many Sangheili still see humanity as vermin who will try to get revenge against them.

The Arbiter reclaims his former name (Thel 'Vadam) and becomes the leader of the majority of Sanghelios who desire to form a peace treaty with humanity so both sides can rebuild and not bother each other. However there are rogue factions, namely the Servants of Abiding Truth, who still believe in the Great Journey and Covenant ideologies, who are cooperating with ONI through arms deals to overthrow the Arbiter and plunge Sangheili society into chaos. ONI wants to 'disable' the Elites so they can never be a threat to humanity again, but Lord Hood wants to (like Thel) make a peace treaty so both sides can cooperate.

So Arby has his hands full right now and isn't appearing in Halo 4 (so we've been told), but will, without a doubt, appear in future titles.

Thanks again. Very intresting, hope peace treaty works, I liked Thel.

Well he returned the his homeworld and is trying to rally the Sanghieli to him, so they can get a piece with the Humans, though a lot of people are on the edge.

I do too. I really wanted to see humanity and the Elites start working together at the end of the war, but after almost 30 years of them committing genocide against humanity it's evident that there's still a lot of resentment between them - even though the Elites were unknowing about the truth about the Prophets lying to them.

I'd compare the post-Halo 3 human-Sangheili relations with that of America and Russia post-WWII. They joined sides to fight a common enemy, but once that was over their ideals were just too different for them to get along - but this time we've got figures like Lord Hood and Thel pushing for peace rather than conflict. The Elites have lost their religion too, thousands of years of their history turned out to be nothing but a lie. Many are refusing to accept this and with Sangheili society stagnating, many are turning to the reformation of the Covenant because it ffers them purpose, order and stability.

I was expecting that to happen too. but now with all the info you've told me it really needs a miracle,
seems more likely that there is going to be a civil war between Sanghelli, than a peace treaty with the humans. Posted Image

Nope. In Halo there is only the destroy option. Besides, Halo 4 looks like it is tying in with the new series they are currently writing. Less focus on the flood as we were supposed to have finished that fight.

I loved GoW and GoW2 but I never bought GoW3. I should probably pick it up. It's probably a lot cheaper now.

Nope... NOPPPPEEEEE. Don't you drag my Halo down to Catalyst levels of batcrap insanity. There's a certain order to the Haloverse: blow crap up, worry about the consequences later. It's a strong, independant series that don't need no Crucible.

(In those Forerunner books, the Halos actually can be modified to create certain effects at certain ranges. Luckily the Flood is out of Halo 4, so the chances of anyone needing/wanting to combine those abominations with the rest of the galaxy is miminal.)

Halo is linear so Halo 6 will end with the ancient evil getting destroyed and predictably with the Master Chief dying....and then i can laugh at myself for predicting the ending 6 years prior Halo 6

Unless you beat the game on Legendary, in which case Chief is seen climbing out of whatever rubble he's trapped in and crawling into a cryo pod.

Even though the Flood pose a greater threat to the galaxy than even the Covenant, they've always been the sort of side villain that gate crashes the party. I have no doubt that they'll likely reappear at some point in this new trilogy.

"The Return" (set 7 years after Halo 3, 2 years after Halo 4), seems to hint at there not being full co-operation between the Elites and the UNSC.

The Shipmaster is quite happy to torture a human to get Forerunner information.

Black Ops was only fun for tomohawking people.

Gears is much better imo and the TPS mechanic is much more enjoyable than FPS.

You play Mass Effect 3 don't you? That's a shooter,,,

In the Haloverse, is it just the games that you need to play to understand the lore? Or is there comics and books as well?

If I'm honest, you can't really grasp the complexities of the Haloverse without reading the novels.

The comics are pretty useless IMO to the lore, but the novels are almost essential. The Librarian, the Diadact, Dr. Halsey, Medicant Bias. These characters are extremely important yet you wouldn't grasp their importance from the games alone.

If you don't have the time (or want) to read the novels, you could just use the Halo wiki to read their synopsis to get the basic gist of them.

True, I did play Halo 1 and 2. I own 3 and reach but never got around to playing them.

Could Reach be a starting point? as it's set before everything else apparently?
