Where did they get this number? No one asked me....

They asked you about DA:O. Looks like you only get a ME3 profile on the site if you use MP, though.

Anyone remember what the default for data collection is?

sorry but from actual stats i92% finished the game within a week of it being released
roughly the same for ME2 and just over 80% for ME1

for DA1 and DA2 it ranged between 77%-94% finished the game within 1 week.

So Bio's been lying for years about how many people finish their games, and lying in a way that makes their games seem less engaging than they actually are?

Why would they be doing that?

gameinformer cant be trusted unless they have access to bioware / EA server stats.

think about it though.....if only 42% finished the game then why was there over 80% of the gamers protesting the endings for a change when every single one of them knew every mission, every choice from all 3 games.

if it was 42% we would NOT have gotten free multiplayer DLC ((MP is just awfull period)) and the free ending DLC.

it takes OVER 80% of the core ME3 owners to get something changed .so yeah gameimformer knows shack jit

Fixed.

wouldn't the overall stats change as time goes by and more people buy the game?

Sure. More completions over time, more new players who haven't completed. The percentage can move either way.

No wonder so many people aren't mad at Bioware! They didn't even see star kid!

Hmm. Have you ever consider that 42% of people Alt-F4'ed when they see the mighty artistic integrity aka Starkid ?

Ha! BioWare is getting hit hard with people not wanting to play the SP and the MP is getting hit hard now with people starting to just not play it either due to how repetitive and crappy it is.

lol them MP updates were not free, you have to pay to unlock them via micro-transactions, which is the BIGGEST CON IN VIDEO GAMES HISTORY.

I laugh at the fools who buy them.

Additionally, Melo stated ME2's number spiked THIS year. When they released ME2 statistics back in Sept of 09 ME2's completion rate was said to be roughly 50% implying something in the high 40's.

Probably already mentioned, but this isn't taking into account people who have statistics turned off, turned on part of the time, play offline, or whatever else.

I wish Bioware would stop making gameplay decisions based on an inaccurate statistic system.

Yes that is my point, in 2010 9 months after launch the game was reported as having roughly 50% completion rate = high 40's. That is as opposed to ME3's 42% 5 months from launch.

Melo states the ME3 number spiked this year to 56 as a result of ME3 coming out.

Therefore both ME2 and ME3 were in the 40's (high and low respectively) during the year of their launches. You're looking at a single digit difference between the percentage of people who completed both games.

What makes you think that people who play offline, , etc., are any different from other players?

They might be, of course. This does reduce the level of confidence in the data somewhat. But it's still pretty good data.

I can't see that the numbers matters, Mass Effect 3 will always be synonymous with a badly written plot and ending and badly implemented multiplayer.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize Bioware was sending squads out forcing people to perform microtransactions in MP. Oh wait, they aren't, because you don't have to pay real world money for a thing. The new packs (Rebellion, Earth, etc) are 100% free, and you can unlock items from those packs the same way you do for everything else...buy playing the game and using the credits earned to 'purchase' packs.

and yet go to the MP section of this fourm and you will see people spending a small fortune on micro-transactions, I'd imagine Bioware has made 4 times as much as if they had sold the content as normal DLC.

Just because you CAN perform microtransactions does not make them necessary. It is indicitive however of people who probably have little to no impulse control.

But my point is that the MP DLC has been paid for many times over by people spending money with micro-transactions.
Hell I read of one guy spending 30 quid the time the first DLC came out and if they had sold that as normal DLC it would have been a tenner.
So yes the guy who thought up micro-transactions should be thrown into a pit of rabid wolves. The next thing you will be buying by micro-transactions is bullets.

On a side note love your Avatar.
