The other thing to note is that A lot of the deleted scenes taken out of movies are deleted for very good reason. No one wants to sit through 6 hours of boring dialog just to get to the good parts simply because the director can do it. And then some of it is released in the same disc the movie is with no extra charge... Woopdee doo. We're really going to compare first day DLC to deleted scenes that weren't even that good to begin with? That no one even notices unless their giant fanboys of the movie?
Just as important: As was already said earlier, those DVD's are released months after the movie was in theaters, and usually years after.
There's no excuse for Day 1 DLC. Especially since Publishers neglect to mention that they add 25%-30% to the cost of a game without doing anything, and then they mandate marketing campaigns reportedly as high as 50 million dollars, which would be 2x-5x as much as they spent making the actual game.
If Games are really that expensive, the solution is for Publishers to get rid of their excess baggage and come up with realistic marketing campaigns.
It's not the consumers duty to support their inability to run a business.

There may be no excuse , but there are reasons given; simply some do not wish to accept them. And while consumers may not have a duty to blindly support a business, they may not always understand how to run said business.

The reasons are marketing spin. I'd suggest you do some research on the topic, include the following in your studies: marketing budgets, viral marketing, Publisher overhead.
Here's a very good example...
http://halo.wikia.co.../Halo_3_Credits
Notice how an easy half that list or more have nothing to do with the game's development? Half of that list is Microsoft staff, not the game development team.
So with respect, instead of buying anything a publisher tells you, please take a few minutes or maybe even an hour, and research the topic. Heck, look at the credits for the games.
Further, I can link you to people with decades of experience in the Industry, flat out stating how much a publisher adds to the cost of games. While OTOH, all you're doing is believing anything a publisher passes off as a justification.
Right after EA finished a campaign of demonstrably false statements about their last game, "You don't need multiplayer to get the best ending!".
So I'm a little bit fuzzy on why you've opted not to actually do research, believe what they try to claim, and tell people who have done research they're wrong.

However, if the Day1 DLC is something that will aid my game, and I do not already have it as part of my game purchase (eg; CE ed), still having the option to add it into mine as a seperate purchase in fine by me. Unless the DLC is essential to complete the game, having it around is OK.
And while not buying everything the publisher states, I do purchase Bioware games because of the high quality and enjoyment I have received in the majority of those games played. As for publishers, as long as they are not interfering with the product being produced (eg; Atari and NWN1), this falls within the non-interesting business area, too.
