Which character would you cast to do what?

For my canon walkthrough I wanted each character to have their moment in the spotlight so here's how I did mine:

Cargo Hold battle with Oculus: Grunt & Zaeed

Vent Specialist: Legion

Vent Team: Thane, Mordin (and let me tell you I was sweating that one!!)

Fire Team Leader: Garrus

Normandy Crew Escort: Mordin (which is why I chose Mordin for the vent squad - I knew he would be unavailable after this)

Long Walk Biotic Dome: Samara

Long Walk Team: Miranda & Jack (classic action film tension moment: could these bitter enemies work together for the good of the mission?)

Fire Team 2: Jacob

Human Reaper battle: Kasumi & Tali

I'm curious to see how others did their suicide mission. Please share if you have a moment. Thank you!

To some extent I've been doing this in all my playthroughs, almost without realizing it - but varying from one playthrough to the next (Tali was in the vents last time, so this time I'll let Kasumi do it, etc.).

The only problem is, if this were a movie, you'd need a reason why Garrus was relieved of his command of the Fire Team between the ventilation run and the Long Walk. For that reason, I might send him to escort the crew back to the Normandy, if I could spare him from holding the line without anyone dying.

In my walkthrough, I headcanoned that Garrus suffered a injury (minor enough to keep him in the fight but serious enough to prevent from leading again) and Jacob stepped up to take over the Fire Team.

I'll do the suicide mission again and check the cutscene for the 1st fire team to see the specifcs.

Sounds like a sad movie, since alot of your people would die.

Actually the OP's choices should get everyone out alive, assuming they're all loyal. But in the movie version, at least one or two would have to die in order to build tension and underscore the difficulty of the odds they're facing.

Is Jacob a good leader? I have never tried him as a leader of either squad.

Yes; Jacob, Garrus, and Miranda are all good choices for squad leader. Assuming they're loyal. In fact Miranda can successfully lead the 2nd fire team (during the Long Walk) even if she isn't loyal. She can also survive being carried off by the seeker swarm, should she be in your squad during the Long Walk and you chose your biotic specialist poorly. Plot armor is the best armor of all.

Cargo hold battle: Garrus and Miranda
Vent specialist: Legion
Vent team: Thane and Miranda
First fire team leader: Garrus
Biotic specialist: Samara
Swarm team: Thane and Miranda
Second fire team leader: Garrus
Normandy crew escort: Mordin
Reaper battle team: Thane and Miranda

That was for my first playthrough, as a Vanguard. Looks like I didn't mix it up too much and kept going with the same people but I tended to rely on some team members more than others. Also, Thane was my Shep's LI so she kind of wanted him at her side and to give him a chance to really make a difference before the end...

I'm playing as an Adept these days so my choices will likely be somewhat different.
