What is the purpose of this toolset? To create new content or edit the core game? I don't understand why this toolset is so extremely difficult to use. I want to successfully modify one small thing in the single player campaign. ANYTHING, something small and easy.  Is there a tutorial for this?

I know just enough C++ to get by but this toolset is the most unfriendly application I have ever seen in the history of tools.

And to think I've been programming for 10 years and I get paid pretty good too lol, how embarassing.

Anyone care to explain the physics behind this toolset?

The purpose of the toolset is both to create new content and edit the core game. I believe what we're getting is the developer tool, so it isn't really designed with the layman in mind; I've worked with the TES and NWN2 toolsets, and although they are easier to use, they're also not as advanced in terms of gaming technology. Given a choice, I'll take the more opaque toolset and the superior game. :)

As far as the modification you're wanting to make, the tutorial would be dependent upon what type of modification that is. You may find the Builder Wiki useful. I also posted some information to your other thread regarding dialogue, which might help give you a starting point.

It's a good question. Many of the posts in this forum are at cross-purposes, because there are two completely different audiences - the OC modders, and the builders of brand new adventure modules.

In principal, the toolset is for everyone with sufficient skill and patience to master at least some aspects of a professional studio.

In practice, the OC resources have not been released unconditionally. That makes life a bit harder for the OC modders, who have to do things differently from the standalone module builders.

I don't think you could say that the toolset is exclusively for either group, but it would sure help if people mentioned in their questions what kind of building they're trying to do, as you have.

Even better if Bioware could just release the OC content "as is" one day.

as hard as this sdk is compared to nwn2 or the tes toolsets you should try the djinni toolset for the witcher. now thats a pain to use. anyway i use the toolset to modify the OC as i dont have the patience or skill to completely build my own mod. In the past i also changed mods made by other ppl to suit my own needs
