I've heard Krogan get staggered to death by Primes, though, so that makes me a little nervous.
Liesssssssssssssssssssssssssssss ALL LIES.
Kroguard is pretty much immortal against geth on gold. As mentioned, with a cyclonic modulator 2 on, and a shield booster gear.... pretty much indestructible if you keep your cooldown at 200. As with any cqc character, you increase your chance of stagger if you stand in the middle of 8 enemies. That said, if you stand to the left of 2 primes and a bunch of hunters and pyros you should be able to tank all of them with the right build.
This is the build i would take in to gold currently.
http://narida.pytalh...9p1JC@NL4M4F4H4
2650 shields with 30 percent damage reduction restored every 5 seconds or so. At that rate of shield generation pretty much nothing gets through. It is a melee build, but vs geth i keep the acolyte equipped and charged like a gps. If i see a hunter coming in, biotic charge. The acolyte will auto fire and hit the target before me, ripping enough shields that even if i did not have a melee bonus from killing someone in the last x seconds i will still be able to kill the hunter outright with a heavy melee after the charge. It really helps at the start of the round to get that 75 percent bonus up and running. If i am tanking a prime or two the the mooks around them are an invaluable source of melee bonus. They will take damage when you charge the prime, so every now and then you will be in a position to switch focus off the primes and h melee a mook on the edge of death so that you can keep pounding the primes with full melee damage.
In terms of when to charge after engaging a group with primes, though there is the obvious wisdom of charging when your barrier is low XD , if you find yourself able to charge but still have pretty good barrier my advice is not to spam the charge because you can. The melee bonus is nice but not a deal breaker. Hold out as long as possible because if you see the prime going into the wind up of a melee animation you can then charge through it. That melee would take a ton of your shields off, and is about the only thing that will do enough damage to put you in a position of running out of barrier between charges.
On a side note, the evicerator. Right now it is only there to deal with guardian shields and sync kill capable enemies with armour from a safe range. if i had a lighter piranha i would take that with a smart choke and shredder over the evicerator in a heart beat, but i would not sacrifice cooldown for it.
Cooldown > everything else, including weapon damage on this build.

Rage is bugged in the fitness tree. Specifically you do not get the 'rage' damage reduction or 'rage' melee bonus.

I got the Krogan Vanguard a week ago or so. I heard Rage was broken on him, so I figured there wasn't going to be a massive advantage to him over my melee-crazy Krogan Sentinel. Boy was I wrong.
Spec'd for survivability (rather than melee damage like my Krogan Sentinel) and jesus... It's almost obscene. I was standing right in front of an Atlas (on Silver) with my Piranha, just taking my time killing the thing. :innocent: It was ridiculous. I felt like someone was going to report me for hacking because it just seemed like I could—not—die! (I actually did on Wave 11, but that's hardly the point.)
So, yeah. Just thought I'd share that. The class is built like an, um, tank. (I guess that's the point, huh?)
You should try him with a high level Stronghold package gear (increase shields and decrease shield recharge delay). I solo-ed wave 8 Geth Gold on Goddess with the Kroguard when all my teammates were bled out.
There was one point in that wave where I took on 2 Geth Primes, 3 Geth Pyros and a couple of Geth Hunters at the same time. It was definately my hero moment. I biotic charged the Pyros when my shields were low, pump Pirahna pellets into the group, melee the Geth Prime. Rinse and repeat.
But nowadays, I love playing the N7 Shadow on Gold and Platinum especially against Cerberus and Geth. I hate using her against Gold Reapers tho. Against Gold Reapers, I go to my N7 Demolisher as she rips apart Brutes, Banshees and Ravagers.

Nope. To give an example. The rank 4 melee choice in fitness is
30 percent melee bonus. additional 30 percent melee bonus in rage. You get the 30 percent default. you just do not get the 30 extra in rage. Anything listed as rage specific does not work. That is my understand at least.

You could be right. I am only going by what i have seen here and there. Honestly, while it is bad that there are bugs, what is more frustrating is there is no easy link/access to a list of bugs with specific detail on them.

Cerberus, however... Cerberus has been... well, not really painful, but tiring and requiring much more caution. Phantoms are dangerous, if I don't kill them quickly. Guardians are annoying - the only way to kill them is charge and then quick headshot. If I miss, there is no other chance (have to repeat).
Which weapon setup do you use/recommend? I really want to have 200% CD bonus. I tried Disciple and then Katana (both +Phalanx) - nice damage, but poor accuracy. Right now I'm using only Eviscerator VIII which has very good accuracy on short distance, but is slow and has small clip size. Right now I want to check how Scimitar would do. Not much more options left... Or maybe I'm doing it all wrong, shotguns are simply not for me and I should focus on some other weapon (assault rifle maybe? Somehow I love Mattock). One time I used mostly phalanx and it did surprisingly good, but it felt somehow wrong... And maybe Predator X would be better as secondary weapon than Phalanx X? I tried Carnifex II, but on the current level it's just not good enough (and slow, I hate slow weapons if they aren't sniper rifles/shotguns).

Evicerator with shredder mod will make short work of a guardian , shield or no shield, and it is a light light shotgun which lets you engage at mid range for enemies with instakill. I currently run with an acolyte 2 and evis x with a cooldown at 195 ish. I cannot stress the utility of the acolyte enough. Even on gold it makes a lot of units killable with a charge shot into biotic charge stagger into heavy melee combo.
The disciple staggers non armoured enemies which is nice but its vs armor damage suffers incredibly as you move up the difficulty levels. Bronze silver gold below.
322/202/42
So if you pack the disciple for low weight and stagger you should pack a heavy pistol which can punch armour.

I do the same thing with my Shadow. Shadow Strike, unload my Piranha, Shadow Strike, reload Piranha, Shadow Strike, unload Piranha & then flame sword melee to finish it off. Same thing for Banshees & Geth Primes. Once their barrier goes down Banshees are friggin retarded. They just stand there & let you kill them.

Thanks for your answer! I don't get the acolyte. I just don't. I can't hit anything. Which is pity, I admit, as I constantly hear of people doing magic with this weapon. I can have only two mods, and I really want to keep my attached blade, does it mean I should replace my high caliber barrel for shredder mod? Is it really worth it?
I don't want an armor-specific pistol. My main strategy ie for most enemies, including amored ones is: charge, melee, shoot if it's still alive. I mean - pistol would be OK for that as well, but then I wouldn't need a shotgun. Right now I used pistol for cases I wouldn't approach/charge: fighting banshees or doing objectives (hacking, etc).

Since i have my acolyte equipped by default in most situations i have mag and melee stunner on it.
The question of shredder vs high cal barrel is situation. You charge melee shoot. I charge/shoot/melee /melee /melee
If you use your shotgun A LOT as part of how you roll then you should probably stick to your high cal barrel, especially if you play silver. I use it specifically to deal with groups of guardians without any hassle and occasionally to deal with insta kill enemies from range. Other than that i do not use it so the overall benefit of extra damage means nothing to me.

Besides some reports that the melee damage evos don't work (can't really comment on that, haven't tested it myself), except martial artist, I haven't seen anyone claim that the passive stats are bugged. The rage mode bonuses however do not apply at all. No melee damage or damage reduction. Only thing you'll get is that obnoxious visual filter and the laughing animations.thewalrusx wrote...

Yeah, I just wanted some lightweight POS to use on a Hack where my Shotgun/Charge would be ineffective. I feel like an idiot when I'm carrying around nothing but short-range weapons and can't do anything useful when range is called for. The impact it makes to my Charge cooldown isn't massive, so I figured it wasn't hurting me to have it, just in case. (Not on Silver, anyway.)
personally, I'd recommend the acolyte if that's your purpose. you'd be helping out better with the aoe shield stripping while at range, not to mention since you're already a tank as is, the charging shouldn't be that big an issue. it's also equally light weight, and adding a pistol ulm would make it even lighter since you don't really need much attachments on it.

No Rage doesn't do anything on the Kroguard.
Who cares about Rage. If you're melee'ing things on Gold/Plat, you're doing it wrong.
