I have never had any issues with DLC. Perhaps I am one of the lucky few that have never had an installation issue, or in game issue. Either way thats all I can say about this. The quality of DLC has been good so far with Warden's Keep being short but at least well formed. Stone Prisoner was excellent.

I am sorry but you are completely incorrect in saying...

"I am one of the lucky few that have never had an installation issue, or in game issue."  Posted Image

Lucky few?  If so, so am I and so are about 99% of DAO players.  The OP is a rant describing one, repeat one, player who has had problems with DLC.  I can understand his frustration but he has let that emotion cloud his common sense in trying to rectify the situation.  Going balistic on Bioware because he did not receive the kind of treatment he believes he deserves from EA is just nonsensical.

If, as it has been suggested, he would have politely posted his problems on the Tech Forum he probably would have had the issue cleared up in short order.

Some people would rather b**** than work.

'Perhaps' is a key word here and poorly quoting me without a hint of paraphrase is a bit irritating. :police: I know full well I may not be the only one without issues. I have re-installed DA multiple times on two different machines. (due to using the toolset on my laptop and testing on my desktop) Without any faults at all. I understand the OPs frustration but pinpointing his problems is ,for me at least, impossible.  All i can give in advice is try a full re-install of DA (again?). Register and check his accounts and unlock codes here and take the process slowly.

wow lots of feedback since I put this up a scant 23 hours back. I would have responded to some of the usefull suggestions, and some of the useless flames sooner but been working and away from the comp.

Lets start with hardware. there was some suggestions that it may be hardware related.

I am running an asus p5n32-e sli mobo with a core 2 duo 6600 @2.4 GHz and 3 GB ram. 2 nvid 260 vid cards and an asus physX accelerator. . its a clean software install vista sp3 fully updated and registereddone 3 days before I popped in dao, it also has wow, batman AA, bioshock, fallout 3, and ut3 all of which work brilliantly. DAO was running in max settings and was highly addictive with a solid 30 + hours as I explored every side quest. When the gear vanished it was at the end of the orzimar story line and I didn't even notice til i got in a fight and alister started swinging fists insead of swords.

Now as to why I contacted ea. In this same forum their is a group Dragon Age: Origins PC Technical Support and the first post is titled Official Dragon Age: Origins PC Game support and it contains the sentence and hyperlink -To get help with technical issues for the PC please visit Official Support and check their existing questions & answers or request help. It is posted by Chris Priestly of Bioware. yep thats right bioware go check ity out if ya doubt me but its there I swear to ya that it is there. so I clicked on the appropriate link and went where it took me and posted all my info and 3 weeks later was effectively told to ****** off and not bother them "

We are sorry the inconvenience caused to you. The issue you are facing looks to be related to gameplay mechanics, we are sorry but we are customer support and we don't have in-depth gameplay knowledge. We can only assist with issues related to the game itself"

Now a quick scan or search of the aforementioned forum ---pc tech support will bring up not just one or two issues about gear vanishing for no good reason, I know because yes I have chased down these posts and tried out all the various fixes, so far to no avail.

so yes I have done my homework, yes I have tried multiple fixes for the issue.

no it is not a hardware issue

no I am not a troll, I have taken all the appropriate steps to attempt a repair because I was really enjoying the game.

yes I am extremely frustrated at the lack of proper support for a game that netted bioware millions in revenue

and yes I have cross posted in multiple forums in an effort to raise awareness and hopefully get a useful tip that will lead to a fix.

anyhow thats it for now

ciao

Lux.

lol ppl love complaing so much. I've never had any issues with
any of the DLC. SInce you accuse Bioware for a response from EA I'm
going to safely assume troll or you have no idea what you are talking
about. Bashing the game instead of using the forums to find an answer
will not help you one bit unless someone has pity on you & offers
advice.
Here's the facts though no game is perfect there will
always be issues so you can complain & bash the gaem like a child
on the forums or act like an adult & search for a solution. There
is also this thing called a phone to contact support or you could
simply stop playing like you have but leave us out of it please.

Not gonna lie shocked to read your last post actually looking for help instead of continuing your rant bad news though this isn't the tech forums so probably shouldn't be wasting our time with your problems. Don't rant & bash games like an angry child & you'll get better responses also post in the correct forum.

I understand your concern with your problem. I would be frusterated also. But this is a game and all games have weird glitches. DAO is much more stable and bug free than most other games out there IMO. Most people have no problems running the DLC and that is a fact. I think your demands are a little harsh. Do you really think that bioware is going to drop what it is doing to address the specific issue that you are having? If anything, bioware goes through great lengths to please the community. You said you posted a lot to try and find a fix for your problem. It seems like no one even knows what the problem is. Is this even a bug or is it a computer issue? Also, you contacted EA support and then blame bioware for not giving you a solution.

Apparently you're choosing to ignore the part where he said he tried various solutions offered in threads in tech support and elsewhere. Some people are having issues with this game. That's a fact.

I myself have had the issue where DLC items disappear from my characters and it can only be fixed with a reload or sometimes only with a restart from an earlier save. I've also had video corruption issues.

I'm experiencing the same thing as Lux is with the Warden's Keep DLC. i.e Soldier's Peak does not show up on my map anymore. I have no journal entry for it either. Levi Dryden is in my camp and if I talk to him , I get the option of saying "Let's go to Soldier's Peak" or "I'll help you" and the other couple options. If I choose the first two, my journal updates, but shows the quests as completed and when I go to the world map, Soldier's Peak is there. When I arrive, I can enter the keep (Levi is there following me), but everything is done. It's empty. No merchant out front, no storage chest, no smith.

This game has also crashed on me more than any other game I've played in years.

I've checked my hardware. It's not a hardware problem. There's something else going on. Software conflict? Mod conflict? Could be, although I had no issues with my fisrt run throught he game.

So just because you're not having problems with the game doesn't mean others aren't, and they do have legitimate beefs. Is ranting on the forums the best solution? Probably not, but I can certainly understand how this kind of thing would drive someone to do so. So let's back off the 'troll' accusations and the insults, shall we?

lol. I am talking about how I was target for pointing out to the original poster that very few peopel will likely care 1 he was ranting like an angry child about Bioware having poor teh support when the quoted response was clearly from EA 2 this is not the tech support for PC, 360 or PS3 section of the forums so this thread should of been closed from the start & he should of been directed to the correct place 3 if he would of been directed to the correct section & the thread closed moderators wouldn't have to deal with annoyed ppl like me who didn't insult him or violate the forums policies yet still got harrassed 4 I really don't care for some childish complaints & rants when all he did was send an email which anyone should pretty much assume he'll get an automated response. if he really wanted help he could of called for support, emailed bioware not EA or asked for it in the correct section instead of needlessly bashing companies & complaing so much.

You don't get it. Without punctuation, one has a very had time reading a sentence that is 5000 words long. Do us a favor and throw in a . or a , once in a while. Then we may be able to understand.

Yes there is a lack of punctuation due to me ranting & venting out frustration but it shouldn't be that hard for anyone above a 5th grade reading level to read between the lines & get the general message. Thansk for the input but its just as lazy to say you can't figure out the mistery of the missing periods as it is to not include them. lol

Reread your post. You implied he was either a troll or he's clueless (first sentence). Then you say he's acting like a child and should learn to act like an adult (third sentence), and tell him he should search for a solution. Something he clearly states he's done in the post above yours. Then in your next sentence you sarcastically suggest he should use the phone for tech support and invite him to 'leave us out of it'. Then your last paragraph expresses shock that he's asking for help - another sarastic comment - and goes on to call him a child yet again.

Put all that together and your post has no purpose whatsoever other than to insult the guy. Being annoyed doesn't give you the right to waive the rules here and insult people. You can just as easily move on to another thread that interests you and forgo the insulting posts. If you feel a thread is in the wrong forum, you can contact a moderator. If you feel the boards are not being moderated properly, you can contact Chris Priestly.

I ran into precisely 0 major bugs in the game, and precisely 0 major bugs in the DLC.

I wouldn't say it is definitely full of buggy code.

There is a subset of players who have trouble playing the game at all. I imagine those same players probably have issues with DLC, because the real issue seems to be the game engine running on their system for whatever reason.

If you can't get the game to run, perhaps purchasing DLC before fixing the core problem is not prudent.

If you have no problems with the game itself, you likely won't have issues with the DLC.

Another moderator annoying & abusing his power to rant to ppl about pointless responses. You wouldn't have my response if you knew how to run a  forum. Bioware may be able to develop one hell of a game but they leave idiots to run their forums. Obviously when some fool posting complaints about the wrong company in the wrong section turns into a discussion like this instead of the thread beign closed.

i think bioware needs to take a lesson from borderlands and gearbox personally.

the island of dr ned DLC for borderlands is 10$ cash, no stupid points.

it takes around 3-4 hours to complete the entire thing the first time through.

its pretty huge for a DLC addition, several zones including a new small town.

thats how DLC should be handled.

bioware is shooting themself in the foot with this overpriced nickel and dime crap that lasts for 30 minutes to maybe an hour. sooner or later people are going to wise up and be like this company is giving us the shaft.

On the DLC issue,, I have had no issues, but I have had odd issues here and there, but that has been the memory leakage causing them, a restart sets things straight.

xbox costs less than a mid level GFX card and, lets be honest, the PC version is by far more vfm than a console version, console games are throw away PC games get mods, rehashes, upgrades, web communities, new gamer made complete games that we are building here. Oh,, and someone in this community will come up with the fix for the DLC issue know doubt, and it wont be solved on a console. But Pc or Console is a choice.

And on the issue of connecting to get the DLC working. I think it is part of the anti piracy lark. Making sure you are registered, and also that it makes sure you have the items for the DLC, as if you dont it asks if you want to redownload.
My main issue is really the toolkit, that GFF editor out of memory bug, grrrr, but it will get a fix, and it wont need to go via MS or Sony :P

A decent XBox will run you $250.

I just purchased a Radeon HD 5750 which supports DirectX 11, ran the game at the highest settings without a hiccup, and is a very powerful card. That card was $150.

An XBox is not cheaper than a mid level card. That is simply factually incorrect.

I can play online with my PC without paying for a Live subscription, which saves me more money. That video card isn't just used for gaming, as my computer is a multi-purpose device. The video card is necessary for Aero and Compiz effects on a modern desktop, for instance. And many PC applications are starting to type into video acceleration.

It may be " factually incorrect" where you are but here it is fairly correct(depending on taxes in the EU area)

This is not me defending bioware it is me pointing out that you are a idiot.  Yes wow is fairly bug free now but the game is over 3 years old.  You must not remember the q times from 2 years ago when you put in for a CSR and that was a game that cost us 50 bucks and a monthly fee.  I am sure if you were willing to get charged $15.00 a month you could have the same customer support as you do with WoW.
