I proposed the same idea, Silver N7 >120 Gold N7>300 or so Platinum N7 500, I don't see why people are so damn die hard to never promote and prefer trololing lobbies with the N7 120, but are running lv X Rares and UR's. Honestly this idea is primarily to limit unexperiened players from joining difficulties they shouldn't play yet.

I don't promote anymore because it is boring. I ended up at n7 420 (pure coincidence believe it or not), and I choose not to do the same thing over and over again unless bioware does another objective focused on promoting. In fact, last time I promoted was the last time they had such an objective, and I had stopped promoting well before that. What I don't see is why you care whether or not I or anyone else promotes. I don't care if you do or not. You want to keep promoting? Fine, have fun. Furthermore, they aren't trolling lobbies. If they are equipped with maxed out rares and URs, they are most likely experienced players who are simply looking for a game. That's not trolling.

Bad idea when its a ludacris proposal, not a bad idea when its reasonable. Sorry I was one of the people that was playing back when Respecs were Rares and were actually difficult to get, so yes I promoted a few times. My N7 has been 720 basically since that last community event that require promotes, afterwards I bought a handful a PSP's not having all the Rare character cards yet and within 5 minutes had half of the 6 class' within 2 levels of 20 again. I don't see why people must protest as if it will take them months to promote a handful of class' for the sake of better match making.

I played Silver at N7-12 and started regular Gold runs at N7-330 or so. According to this I just BARELY would've started Gold.

Why? Simple.

1. Promoting is meaningless, so why push people to do it if they don't want to?
2. The notion that this will create better matches is flawed. I'm n7 420, and I've carried or noticeably outplayed many n7 1000+ players. I'm not claiming to be god's gift to gaming. I'm saying some of them simply weren't any good. They joined pug matches and let the team carry them while they either did next to nothing or were constantly down. So, apparently they specialized in constantly promoting and letting everyone else do all the work. That's not skill.

I play Gold/Platinum all the time but according to this genius I shouldn't play silver. Under the delusion that N7 rank matters, ignorance is bliss I guess.

really bad idea. I only log MAYBE 4 hours a day of video game time a day because I have a job.

125 hours to play gold would have taken me a month at minimum!

4 months to play platinum... I cannot overstate how bad this idea is.

If you want to go elitism at least make it sensible. Like perhaps extracting on bronze gets you to silver etc.

I think the OP is trolling, not just for the concept, but because he set ridiculously high N7 thresholds.

That being said, on this general subject, I'm confused as to why some people don't understand that an N7 level above 120 is MEANINGLESS. There is nothing really to be gained by promoting, except for a little bit of pointless single player stuff that you don't really need, and only impacts the worthless horrible terrible ending anyways.

If my N7 level is 120, for all you know i've played the same as somebody with 4 digits.

OP's logic is flawed as the parameters set are astronomicaly high, and unachievable by most, small increases in require N7 would be much more reasonable, as in Silver could simple be 80 or something. Ending at Platinum which could require 250+ idk, I no longer care for the subject as people seem to just throw the same 2 rebuttals at me, and its pointless to continue argueing/debating.

That's fine, but I can tell you that back when there was n7 matchmaking, the people I was matched with were unquestionably better than the teams I get randomly where matchmakign doesn't take n7 into account.

I recommend that in order to play the ME3 Multiplayer difficulty level that you have to have a N7 Ranking or have logged a certain number of hours actually playing multiplayer.   The way it is now will ruin the Public search if it hasen't already.   This magic number is tier driven, and this needs to be implemented soon in order to preserve the intergrity of the difficulties, they are being overrun with the wrong players and inexperience players, there needs to be some order because you can search for a Platinum match now and see a N7 1 level 1 attempting to play, doesn't make any sense to me.

Bronze - Any N7 Ranking (1 - Unlimited)  (0 - Hours Min)
Silver - N7 Ranking 500 (500 - Unlimited) (50-Hours Min)
Gold - N7 Ranking 900 (900 - Unlimited) (125 Hours Min)
Platinum - 1350 - and above (1350 - Unlimited) (500 Hours Min)

This will keep the difficulties appropriate to the players, people like myself can't stand being in a Platinum match with a N7 Ranking 100 or for that matter a level 1. on Platinum...it's ruining the Public Platinum searches. Please fix immediately., and this forces people to level up and try different characters, in a Platinum match you'll suggest that a player switch to a character that can better help the squad and the N7 Ranking 1 or 100 has not a clue what class or character we are talking about, I believe SIL, Gold, and especially Platinum should be EARNED not given away, just like the weapons and gear are earned through game play and packs, a new person should have something to look forward to, and not buy the game today and play PLATINUM 5 min later, it's suppose to be the hardest level, but with a N7 Ranking of 1 or 100, it's turning out to be a BIG JOKE. And this will keep the Missile Glitchers that are still out there on Bronze, because most of their N7 Ranking are under 250, so it lets them know if you want the good credits LEARN TO PLAY THE GAME....

If you disagree Bioware and think giving people Platinum and Gold that just bought the game then I suggest you do away with the EARNED PACKS, and just start giving away Harrier X and Black Widow X....since you believe that earned is not applicable to the actual game, but weapons and gear ARE.....DUUUUHHHH

I am RedJohn and this is the worst idea on BSN.

Op, your idea is terrible bad because N7 is not equal to skill, for example, my first solo gold in the full game was when I was N7 50-55 or so, also, I started playing silver since I was N7 1 because bronze was too easy and boring.

Platinum - 1350 - and above (1350 - Unlimited) (500 Hours Min)

My N7 right now is 1337 ( i like the number ) and I have soloed platinum like 8-9 times and you are telling me that because of my N7 I shouldn't play platinum?

Also, lot of my friends that are GREAT players don't have a high N7, so, your idea is terrible.

Origin tells me I've played 114 hrs. You're telling me I should have to play another 386 hrs, just to get back into platinum?

Wow, this is a really bad idea op. This is even worse than the other 'plat needs a minimum for entry' ideas.

Too many people are getting caught up in the numbers and are not bothering to respond to whether having some type of restriction on the higher difficulty levels makes sense.

 OP is crazy

I speed run gold and platinum with my N7 450 ranking.  Probably have less than 150 hrs logged in mp also

Ther should not be a restriction.  I help level low levels on gold and platinum all the time.  That the way it should be you don't always need high levels or crazy equipment just teamwork

Even if the numbers aren't rediculously high, they're still going to inconvience skilled players.

On the other end, it makes a low hurdle that unskilled players will move over.

The over-all effect, where ever the hurdle is placed, is disincentivising people to play the game. Exactly what Bioware doesn't want to do.

After reading pages of comments & playing loads of games with unskilled players, I have 2 agree that there should be SOME sort of matchmaking system in place, although maybe not based on N7 number alone. I admit that when I first started playing I was nowhere near as good as I am now, & I have a much clearer understanding of how the game is supposed 2 work; the synergy that needs 2 be present on higher difficulties where teamwork is of the utmost importance. I see people joining my lobbies day in & day out & I can tell right away how they will perform. I do think that a system such as hours logged combined with extractions, as well as N7 number, could help in placing people where they belong. Even though I agree that N7 is not an accurate indicator of skill level, it would be foolish for anyone 2 believe that someone with a higher level doesn't possess more skill than a lower level. Practice makes perfect, after all! And b4 you jump down my throat, I'm not talking about you weirdos that don't like 2 promote. There are the exception, which is what would stand out in your hrs played/extractions achieved. Fair for all....don't u agree? And it will give a value 2 extractions again!

There's a kick option for a reason. Just do that to anybody you don't want to play with. Problem solved.

you have no idea how many N7 3000's entering my platinum lobbies play like scrubs, and how many of my consistent speed run members are below 400's
