Instead of N7 I'd rather have a character level limit, so to play platinum you need a level 20, however even then its a stupid idea

have some friends with 4k n7 rating which just farm platinum all days. they suck on normal games, they use maybe 2 weapons, and know maybe one build (which still is just bad).
pro players? no...
they have high n7, lots of ultra rares, consumables and other stuff. and still they suck.

This would be my idea.

Extraction from 3 matches on each map on silver to promote to gold. (trophy/achievement)

Extraction form 3 matches on each map on gold to promote to platinum. (trophy/achievement)

this is even worse than his idea...

i refuse to play Condor or Reactor. Those maps are awful.

it's a video game, it's supposed to be fun. forcing people to play terrible maps to play a harder difficulty is pointless. No one is ever going to play Condor Platinum because no one even wants to play Condor Bronze that's how bad it is.

@OP: Yeah...because you would have adhered to your own b.s. requirements when you first started...riiiiight.

/sarcasm

500 hours? I don't think you have grasped the concept of how long that is. I put maybe put 100hrs into Oblivion and Skyrim

Just jumped in a random gold match wave 1 with 3 other players dead I was a level 1 human adapt we got a full extraction my points were double seconds
Only reason I had a level 1 was because I had been kicked because my n7 was only 480.bought the game midnight release. Only promote because of weekend operations.

I would rather suffer through 3 games on a map I don't like, than endless matches with people that barely have a clue what they are doing.

edit: besides, it would only be the original maps.

this makes me laugh, i have over 1000 n7 rating, and i'll be honest i'm not that good a player, i mostly stick to playing silver, i have tried gold, but no way will i try platinum, n7 means nothing, just that people promote alot, everyone paid for this game, its upto the individual what or how they chose to play, also if having a player who's not that good ruins the game for people, then maybe your the 1's taking it to seriously, and need to remember its a game its supposed to be about having fun, and yes that means even us who are not so good to, how can people get any better if they dont try, too many people forget not everyone is born so perfect that they can be awesome at a game just by loading it up

The best guy I've played with on the PS3 is @ 600. I'm at 1200 and I'm better than about 75% of the people that I've come across with higher N7s. You do realize you could play nothing but bronze and silver and get your N7 in the thousands? N7 just doesn't measure what you are looking for.

This request is absurd. There are many ways to fix the interface so that N7 1 players don't accidentally wander into a Platinum match their first time playing. All this suggestion would serve to do is irritate people who know what they're doing but don't like promoting characters or sinking hundreds of hours into multiplayer.

Understand your frustrations, OP, but it's an unfair idea. Everyone learns at their own pace, has their own innate talent. Setting arbitrary limits is only going to prevent a lot of exceptional players from playing the levels that they want to and eventually alienate them from the community altogether.

500 to play silver, are u mad? If I had to stick on bronze into level 500, I would had stopped playing it a long, long time ago. Bronze and Silver can be played at day one. Don't forget most of the players come from the SP, which already give you experience enough to deal with silver, and experienced players doing silver can easily carry a newbie on the team.

Gold I could agree with a level 120 requirement, I think this is XP enough, and already give you a decent weapon, but it should be somthing for the player to decide, when he is ready or not. That's why we can kick, you can left this guys out of your game.

The only problem we actually have is that even searching for silver games, you can end up in a platinum match, not rarelly an ungoing match. This should be fixed. If I look for silver, I should fall on a silver match, or get a message saying that there's no silver lobbies available. Most of the newbies that fall on platinum don't was actually looking for platinum...

N7 rank means little. Some people don't like promoting characters. For a long time I didn't. Also there are people below my rank better then me. I know this.

I know, everytime someone makes a suggestion involving some sort of Gate for higher difficulties, everyone says no, think about the 1/100 person who will have to wait  awhile to play.

I say tough. Random PUGS are garbage, full of noobs and cheaters and missile hoarders. To me this is the perfect compromise, and something I've thought long and hard about.

You're right, N7 isn't a 100% perfect indication of a player's skill and experience, but there will never be a perfect indication. People have been clamoring for a way to clean up higher difficulty PUGS, bioware wants us to promote, so this seems like the perfect compromise.

And if a guy has a low N7, and wants to play a higher difficulty, there's an easy solution. Play lower for a couple of days (cause let's face it, his N7 will prob b pretty close to what's required by this point), promote, and he's there!

Thank you OP. I hope some people listen.

Huh, wtf... I see. This is one of those great ideas that just don't work in the real world.
You can't limit people, they complain.
You can't judge people, they complain.
You CAN boot people though... and if they complain, they are at least complaining for nothing.

Now if bioware ever removes the kick option in lobby, we have a problem. Till then, Boot or scoot!

I've been rolling gold since like two weeks after launch, yet according to this list, I wouldn't be allowed to play silver.

One of the stupidest ideas I've seen on this board to date, and that's really saying something.

So myself, a skilled Gold and Platinum runner should go down to Silver and grind my N7 up to 900 just to play Gold or Platinum, something I've been heavily playing since Launch? Yeah... GTFO...

Actually N7 rating is the ONLY indication of experiance. Skill not so much. But you can't tell a person has hours played (experience) if they have a black widow X on a N7 120. Let a person N7 11,430 roll into your lobby and say, "he's not experienced" and it doesn't even make sence.

This will keep the difficulties appropriate to the players, people like myself can't stand being in a Platinum match with a N7 Ranking 100 or for that matter a level 1. on Platinum...

Whilst the suggested levels here are ridiculously high, in my opinion, I can't help but sympathise with the basic sentiment.

I primarily play on Gold  and I have noticed that the number of single figure and low double figure N7 ranking players in public gold lobbies is definitely growing. Now, most of the time I just leave, but it can greatly increase the amount of time I spend searching for a game that I'd much rather spend actually, y'know, playing!

Consequently, I would suggest a minimum rank of 120 being required for entry to gold and platinum.... which would mean a player has at either a working knowledge of all the basic character classes, or considerably more experience with a select few of the classes.

This would stop relative newbies from trying to 'hitch a ride' to easy credits and/or XP without hampering the hardcore non-promoters from playing the difficulty of their choice.

Benchmarks should have been required to join silver and gold games. I've seen people play gold , who don't like one minute in a round. I'm all for fun, but what is the point in playing a game mode where you die one minute into a round? Become good in bronze, then move to silver, and then gold.

Bad Idea.

just last night I was matched into a SIlver game with a LEVEL 17 FURY with a N7 17. That equals NOOB. However, he was a nice guy. Said he had done some research on line about playing FURY and did quite well in the game coming in 3rd on point total. Set off a lot of BE.

N7 means very little.
