This is a bad idea. My N7 is 420 and I play gold & platinum all the time. My brother in-law has an N7 of 120 and he plays gold & platinum all the time as well. N7 ranking is not a clear indicator of skill, all it means is that person likes to promote characters.

This idea is bad and you should feel bad.

500 hours? Really? Thats like forever. The only game in my Steam list that has so many hours is Skyrim. Even Killing Floor has only 140 hours.

What are you thinking?

And that N7? N7 Rating is the most useless stuff ever. There are plenty 1300 Rating guys that play still awfull. And I am a Gold player (only sometimes platinum), with at N7 180 because I hate this promoting stuff. I can use Respec Cards when I want to respec and I don't need to level over and over and over and over again.

But okay. If you think I am only worth Bronze. I should go back and play Bronze. OP thinks I am a noob and not worth higher Difficulties, even when I am playing this game since the Demo.

It's a great idea, especially if you read the post and see he's talking about time invested overall. Look, for every one person who legitimately claims "I'm good enough for Platinum and I've only played for 24 hours," there's fifteen who are just kidding themselves and burdening other players.

Private lobbies could let people with lower time played join anyway. All he's proposing is a gate to keep baddies from making you waste your time.

There is a way to prevent wasting your time with certain players.... back out of bad lobbies or get some friends.

Bad idea. N7 rating doesn't determine whether or not the player is good.

I got into a lobby today, it was silver granted, but the host was an N7 6. Me and the other guys were slightly higher, but no one over 1000, or actually over 500. Awesome match, we had a few deaths but in all honesty it was a pretty good game and we got a full extraction. If you cant successfully complete a match due to N7 levels of teammates, maybe it's your fault.

Wow.

This thread doesn't even deserve a "no."

It's not even negative enough to express my disapproval.

That's asinine, most people don't promote unless a promotion is going, it's a meaningless number.

LOL, so I won't even qualify for gold because I don't promote often?
Could someone say flawed system? Anyone?

Some of the best players I've played with were under N7 200 and some of the worst were in the high 2-3000's.

So no.

To the OP: 500 hours would require one, assuming 8h for sleeping, eating and other requisite functions each day, to play constantly for over a month non-stop. No going to work, no leaving the house, no time for family or friends.

I think that's asking a bit much don't you?

The solution is simply to allow the server owner to kick or ban or mod as they see fit. It's not Bioware's place to run my server so they should but out and concentrate on running their own (ME2 auto login issues and NWN master server still down? Get your own server working before you start trying to run mine for me please BW .).

As someone who has an above average N7, due to playing a fair amount and enjoying to play with low-level characters in Gold:

N7 restrictions in Gold/Platinum is to me ridiculous. While I've found low N7 people lacking somewhat in skill on average, I've found plenty of people I really enjoyed playing with. A couple of them have even been able to Solo Gold/Platinum, which I'm not yet able to (best is round 8 so far). Had they not been able to play, I'd have missed them out, and my enjoyment of the game would have been that much lessened. N7 to me is indicative, like weapons/gear, but it's not on it's own a determining factor; playing with people is.

Let people play what they'd like. If they are disruptive to the game, quit, leave the lobby afterwards or kick. I don't think that even a twentieth of my games have had players so bad that I've felt the need to do such things, however.

My standard response to these kind of threads:

When YOU pay for MY Console, Internet, Xbox LIVE Subscription, and game, then you can dictate on what difficulty I play, with what character, what class, and with whom.

When I read the title, I was like "lol, another N7 is useless thread". Then I read the OP, and was like "lol, one of the higher n7 people that can't play, that I end up carrying".

I got this game day 3, then I proceeded to "farm" N7 rank, because everytime I hit level 20, I wanted to respec, but never had even 1 reset power (RNG ownt me, over n over). I got to around 600ish N7 rank, and was in the top 40.Then I started slowing down, on the n7 "farm", because I didn't have any new characters/builds to try out, that I didn't know already.  Even when I had a reset power, I still burnt through them (even know 95% of the time I respec just to have fun that game, almost never keep a static build).

Since then, I have played with almost 30 of the top 40, and it's safe to assume, either they're mostly trollol when they play pub matches, or they just got carried to their current n7 rank. Either way, I never again saw n7 rank, as any form of skill measurement, since my friends with 20-40 N7 rank, that just started, played better and smarter.

The last 3 weeks, I have played with enough 2500 N7 - 11000 N7 rank people, to safely say:

95% of players with an N7 rank 2500+, that play pub matches now, have only learned how to level up their N7 rank, and never learned how to actually play the game,

Their might be some with n7 rank that play private, only talking about the pub match "show off" noobs.

Edit: only just got to 1400 n7 rank, and I only did so, because I use 99% of the reset powers as I get them, messing around with builds, even if all I change is 1 level of power evolution.

um....I am a 400 and I do not promote often....I play silver all the time. The ranking system does not mean you are good. It means you play alot and promote alot.

N7 Rank is not <, > or = to being a good player

It may not even mean the person plays alot. One could buy a high N7.

Well, in that case I wouldn't even be able to get into a Silver round, even though I routinely carry on Gold, and hold my own on Platinum. Even better if I am using high-risk high-reward weapon combos, such as Vorcha with a Reegar.

Your numbers suck. I would need to gain 150 more N7 points to join a damn silver match

This is not such a bad idea.
Even though N7 rating can't be used to know whether a player is skilled or not (indeed as soon as you see a N7>120, there is no way to actually know if he is experienced/"skilled" or not), we all know that if you see a N7<50 in Pt, it wont end up well.
Of course a really good team could carry him through, but still he would constantly be downed and end up leaving/not having fun.

In my opinion a N7 requirement for being able to enter Au/Pt games is a really good idea, and it'd help Au/Pt players as well as the new ones.
Obviously OP's values are flawed, but something like >60 for Au (or 20, Au isn't that hard) and >100/120 for Pt would work.

I recommend that in order to play the ME3 Multiplayer difficulty level that you have to have a N7 Ranking or have logged a certain number of hours actually playing multiplayer.   The way it is now will ruin the Public search if it hasen't already.   This magic number is tier driven, and this needs to be implemented soon in order to preserve the intergrity of the difficulties, they are being overrun with the wrong players and inexperience players, there needs to be some order because you can search for a Platinum match now and see a N7 1 level 1 attempting to play, doesn't make any sense to me.

Bronze - Any N7 Ranking (1 - Unlimited)  (0 - Hours Min)
Silver - N7 Ranking 500 (500 - Unlimited) (50-Hours Min)
Gold - N7 Ranking 900 (900 - Unlimited) (125 Hours Min)
Platinum - 1350 - and above (1350 - Unlimited) (500 Hours Min)

This will keep the difficulties appropriate to the players, people like myself can't stand being in a Platinum match with a N7 Ranking 100 or for that matter a level 1. on Platinum...it's ruining the Public Platinum searches. Please fix immediately., and this forces people to level up and try different characters, in a Platinum match you'll suggest that a player switch to a character that can better help the squad and the N7 Ranking 1 or 100 has not a clue what class or character we are talking about, I believe SIL, Gold, and especially Platinum should be EARNED not given away, just like the weapons and gear are earned through game play and packs, a new person should have something to look forward to, and not buy the game today and play PLATINUM 5 min later, it's suppose to be the hardest level, but with a N7 Ranking of 1 or 100, it's turning out to be a BIG JOKE. And this will keep the Missile Glitchers that are still out there on Bronze, because most of their N7 Ranking are under 250, so it lets them know if you want the good credits LEARN TO PLAY THE GAME....

If you disagree Bioware and think giving people Platinum and Gold that just bought the game then I suggest you do away with the EARNED PACKS, and just start giving away Harrier X and Black Widow X....since you believe that earned is not applicable to the actual game, but weapons and gear ARE.....DUUUUHHHH

Your retarded im n7 lvl 210 but i just dont promote my classes beacuse its pointless  and u can check my manfiest to see how i could be at least n7lvl 1000 if promoted every chance a i got. It is just dumb to judge based on n7 lvl beacuse some people just think promoting is dumb beacuse you just work your way up again  for NO CREDITS.
