Guys, JaegerBane and Tipsyfresh, just let it go... agree to disagree.

Thats the thing, i haven't the slightest idea of why jaeger keeps it up.  I can agree to disagree, and i alreadyhave (with him and others). But that's why I think he's just interested in getting the last word or something.  Did you see that he straight up tried to call me out for no good reason because I tried to move on.

Whatever -- Any day1 DLC gives people the idea that they don't have the basic game-experience with the game on disk. It's an insidious idea that festers.

A selling tactic that should be as forbidden as sublimal advertizing.

So Day 1 DLC is bad because it makes gamers feel bad?

Bioware, maybe you can justify day 1 DLC, but there's no way in hell you can justify what From Ashes was as day 1 DLC.

I agree. The mission in From Ashes was shamefully bad. Bio should have delayed the DLC until they did a better one. How dare they release substandard Day 1 DLC.

(Kidding -- I haven't even watched From Ashes on YouTube, let alone played it)

I got half way through that article and realised it was a load of crap. If it's ready to ship with the game then it should be part of the game. Trying to cover up money grubing with [armadillo] arguments.

[No swearing, please.]

^ Sorry, I think armadillo sounds better anyway;)

The level was generic, nothing special. Not even a statue for the savior of Eden prime. I would argue that Zaeeds loyalty mission had more depth.

The level itself, yup. I was kind of disappointed that you couldn't explore the Prothean ruins themselves. Still really liked the flashback sequences, though.

As for a statue, though.... why would they put a statue of a guy who helped out a while back at an archeological dig? :P

Well, that's your opinion. Although I recruited Javik in my first playthrough, I didn't take him with me on missions. (Not until my second playthrough.) In my book, he isn't an integral part of the story. He just provides more lore and understanding. None of which is vital to defeat the Reapers. It only makes the game more enjoyable for those of us who care about the Mass Effect universe.

As for the screenshot, there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. If you refuse Kaiden/Ashley to join you on the Normandy, he/she will then be replaced by a random soldier in this particular scene. I didn't really mind at all that some guy was listening to my speech. Frankly, I didn't even pay attention to him until you guys started discussing it here. So, I guess it's no argument for "this game is incomplete without Javik".

Well not really, no one but Liara is an integral part of the story in the literal sense. On account of ME lore: Javik, arguably, is the most interesting and important companion or even npc.

Also everything about that screenshot is wrong. Seeing some random generated character during such scene was a total mood killer.

Edit.

Sorry, I'm not sure if I understand you correctly. Are you saying that Liara isn't an integral part of the story?

Anyway, Javik is an important character for those who care about the Mass Effect lore. That's indisputable. But he isn't absolutely essential to the story of Mass Effect 3. I mean, if this DLC had never seen the light of day, my experience from the game wouldn't have changed much. Some of his remarks made me think, though.

Again, I wouldn't call it mood killer because I barely noticed the guy. It's true, however, that BioWare probably shouldn't have replaced unattending characters with random soldiers. On the other hand, it's possible that the writers didn't want the scene to feel empty if the player lost many teammates in ME2. But my point was that several characters may be substituted, so the issue doesn't affect only Javik. I know what you're going to say next. And before you do, let me reiterate that the game was designed so that From Ashes can be implemented as smoothly as possible. That is also why you can see the soldier replacing Javik even though you didn't download the DLC.

Wow, the sense of entitlement in this thread is coming on thick. Bioware is a company that makes games in order to make money. If day one dlc makes Bioware more money that's a good thing. For you see, I like the games Bioware makes and as long as they are making bank they are making games. Do you lot see the logic?

Bioware is not a charity and can justify making a profit by the fact that they are a business. Calling them greedy and demanding aspects of their products free of charge is just plain crazy. So I say bring on the day one dlc! I likes me some Bioware content!

I like that theres day one dlc for games i buy. They have to plan it, its not like it was supposed to be on the disc and youre getting ripped off. You have to decide if the base game is worth the price you paid for it, and if not, then stop supporting games that do it and dont buy them. Im happy with the price i paid for my prordered collectors addition - and i got the dlc for free as part of the collectors edition. Thats totally awesome in my opinion - and as a mass effect fan i would have paid for the dlc anyway if it wasnt included. Besides - this happened around half a year ago... some people hold a grudge! Either dont buy the product and move on or enjoy the product and stop complaining.
