I find it to be ridiculous how much blood they show for using blood magic. The second Dragon Age was worse than the first -- a torrential wave of blood that would drain the source completely several times over.
I think that a subtle approach would be more intriguing, like a drop of blood can result in a good amount of power while a sliced hand can do a lot more, but slicing one's wrist and throwing buckets of blood at something should just kill the person.
This is a nit-pick, sure, but there must be some people out there that prefer the current depictions of blood magic. I'd like to read why.
(Please, no spoilers.)

I think they're just exaggerating the amount of blood for cinematic purposes to "make it look cool and menacing". If you actually spewed that much blood in real life you would have already fainted.

If it was reasonable, you probably wouldn't see anything. It's stated that a small amount of blood contains a great amount of power. The over-exaggerating just makes it visible...and fairly cool.

I once witnessed somebody punching a window....
And trust me there were blood all over the place , puddles on the floor etc...
We thought the guy was dying , very impressive.
Actually , he wasn't , no arteries touched , just a few deep cuts on the arm.
So yeah DA blood splash all over the wall is a bit over the top , but in real life an arm sliced is very impressive.

As someone who donates blood, how much is used in blood magic really makes me cringe a bit if it was a "realistic amount in-game"; obviously it's for show (I have to admit, I really like Jowan's escape for example
), but I would really like it toned down a bit... though I tend to prefer subtle things vs. gore and pools of blood as a general rule, ahaha.

More blood is always better...and sexier..

Well, it needs to be visible during battle I guess.

Do they really do that every time you use blood magic? I've never played a blood mage in Dragon Age, so I've never seen it.ReggarBlane wrote...
