Denerim marketplace. Boring music and the only area where I have frequent problems with CTDs.

Yeah, the Fade, gameplay wise, gets old on multiple playthroughs. I like freeing my pals and seeing what their nightmares are, but the rest of it, not so much.

Red Cliff at night.

Loud and intese music even when not fighting. Especially annoying when the mobs bug and won't charge.

Running buy the dwarf selling armor in deneren .after a while i went out of my way to avoid getting anywhere near him . and the first time i put one of those robes on morrigan with her personality she should of had a cut scene going " oh hell no" and she disapproves -20 .there is no way she would of worn one of those.

EDIT ;  FrozenMojo  i tried to forget about that one thanks on first play-through the quest/night lasted like almost an hour. One got stuck up top AND one down below on the bridge.

EDIT EDIT: the politics with the dwarfs the prince and harramont should of just went to the proving  ,problem solved. and the treaties they were  supposed to give you the right to demand help .Not be everyones problems solver/errand boy. in order to get help

Getting to the Urn of Sacred Ashes. That was for too big. Seriously I was expecting too come out in Antiva by the end. It had some interesting bits, the Guardian part was by far the best.

The whole Dalish portion. Long, boring and full of obnoxious, unlikable characters on one side and abrasive, hateful animal-men on the other.

And that damn poet-tree.

Makes me long for the option to burn down the entire forest and be done with it.

I actually had fun in the Fade and Deep Roads; if I had to pick one area I dislike most, it would be running around Orzammar to unlock the Deep Roads, heavily influenced by the fact I don't generally much care for dwarves or their cities (in any game). Otherwise, the major thing specific to DA, was the forced party members; if I'm playing a 2h Warrior, it really messes up my group dynamic to have another 2h Warrior forced on me for a decent-sized dungeon. In situations where the developers feel we "have" to have someone in our groups, I'd rather have them added as an extra party member, and scale the following content accordingly.

how can people not like deep roads. shame. to each his/her own.

Least favorite part? redcliffe I guess. It's kind of a generic castle, and too short. But I pretty much love the entire game. If only it didn't have to end.

I do wish the outdoor areas were a little larger so it at least gave you the illusion there's a great big wide world out there. I know it's not an open game like Oblivion or an MMO, but just a little more freedom would be nice.

Basically all of Orzammar's treaty and the Circle of Mages part. Takes FOREVER and it is extremely boring and repetitive.

The deep roads was actually one of my favorite parts, i thought it had some of the best and most rewarding side quests, there was absolutely nothing i disliked there, but like you say to each his/her own

I enjoyed all areas but least favorite would be a very specific area in the fade - the Mages Asunder. my only two reloads in any of my playthroughs due to my pc being blasted to hell in those bloody rooms

the raw fade was awful and monotonous if you were trying to collect all of the stat boosts.

My absolute least favorite is The Fade and the 4 floors of that god forsaken (maker forsaken) Circle Tower.

I hate The Fade soooo much, I can't even BEGIN to tell you.

Urghhh, this is my first play through, and I swear to the maker I nearly stopped playing the game altogether when I was going through it. I hate the fact that you cant interact with anyone other than that depressing sorry excuse for a mage,Niall. He made me wanna die with him, that loser.

It was just wayyyy toooo drawn out and down right boring,

This is only my first playthrough and I'm already dreading having to go there again once I start my second. (I love this game too much to just play it once, thought it's probably pointless to say that since I bet everyone else in this forum feels pretty much the same way).

I didn't mind the fade too much. I liked being a golem. (Yes, Shale, it is better than being squishy.)

DEEP ROADS....gaaaahhhh.....

I think it was because it was so strangely set up. The fight across the bridge ROCKED. I loved that. Took me forever (was way low level - pulled one baddie at a time - painstakingly). But then you just go on and on and on...

And then they pack all the bosses at once! I mean 3 friggin bosses? All in a row? No, 4 bosses! Spider Queen, Broodmother, Stupid...turning...anvil..thing....room..., and then Branka. I mean, I like bosses. They're great. But 4 in a row?

It seemed like those bosses would have been much better served buttered and spread out across Ferelden - like on toast. Spider queen could have been in the Brecilian forest. Anyhow...

Good point. I recant my vote for the deep roads and put myself down for load times as least favorite.

Essentially, I realise that cosmetic and background details aside they're both similar enough chracters (both Grey Wardens, both Warriors) but that stuck with me as a bit of a thorn in my side for a while. I'm not entirely sure why, considering I barely flinched when the similar plotline came about in Mass Effect - and thought that was one of the most well-done dramatic parts of the ME plot - but for some reason it seemed a more difficult choice to differentiate in this situation.

Ah yes.  The Mass Effect one had much more urgency, especially as it was something to be decided in the heat of the battle - and you make the choice. Here the problem is that you make the decision AFTER the battle.  And that sense of inevitability that was there in ME is lost.
Never really understood why I was so bugged with the fake choice you get after the Landsmeet.

i agree. it is sort of comparing apples to oranges (fantasy to sci-fi? grey wardens to spectres?) but the ME run where you have to make that awful and grueling choice (can't remember planet's name) is awesome. every time i played that game, my hands shook when i made my choice. it was awful! and yet, it also seemed totally believable and it was not a huge surprise. horrible, but not surprise.

the landsmeet and after did strike me as a lot of out-of-left-field sort of stuff. don't get me wrong, i still love both games, but that was where ME was stronger. however, i think a lot of that comes from the feeling in THIS game that you really landed in over your head and dragged a lot of people down with you. in ME, you get the feeling shepard knew what he/she was getting into and so did everyone else on the crew.

The Fade is easily the worst section on playthrough. Just boring all around once you figure out the order to visit the nightmares.

Deep Roads could have been great if the atmosphere was tweaked. I was expecting near total darkness, especially in the overrun thaigs. More darkspawn battles and less giant spiders. Giant spiders are seriously one of the most boring enemies ever conceived.

The world map and the unnecessary blood trail that outlined as to where I was headed. A simple screen transition would have been better in this case.

I'm really glad I didn't do The Fade as my first section after Lothering on my first playthrough. I very well may have shelved the game. While I can see where it may appeal to some, I found it absolutely dreadful. I was quite enjoying The Tower/Circle but The Fade instantly put the kibosh on that.

On subsequent playthroughs, I've gone there fairly early on, just to get it out of the way. I grit my teeth, set my jaw, put the game on Casual and try to blow through The Fade as quickly as I can. I haven't figured out the quickest route yet (I probably should look it up), so unlike one of the posters above, it still takes me a long time to get through. Too long. Muttering "Gawd, I hate The Fade" the entire time.

Honestly, if there was a mod to completely bypass The Fade, that *might* be enough to convince me to switch over to the PC version of the game.

This is not to say The Fade isn't well done. I'm sure a team of folks worked very hard on it and I sincerely appreciate their effort. It's just not a section of the game that appeals to me. In the same way that country music generally doesn't appeal to me, even though I can appreciate the effort that goes into it. Just not my style.

Conversely, unlike some folks above, I enjoyed the Deep Roads. I liked them even better in subsequent playthroughs, when I realized I wasn't forced to take Oghren.

I wish we had the option to wait for that approval letter from Denerim to arrive that allows the Templars to raze the entire Mage Tower so I don't have to do that fade game.
