I started a new game on Nightmare.

Dalish Warrior (Female) and I plan on romancing with Zevran and having Oghren and Morrigan as support.   This character is not about being bad but making decisions which, in the long run, will weaken the humans and strengthen the Dalish.

For instance, I plan on defeating the Lothering bandits and letting them live.  My rationale, they'll live on to butcher more refugees and may grow into a force that can rival and distract the Ferelden Government.

Purge the Circle of Magi. The Templars pose less of a threat and are in fact helping us, as they'll not be enchanting or creating potions and will be hunting down "Apostates", whom can be manipulated into serving us or fighting the humans.

Morrigan would actually approve of you siding with the werewolves against the Dalish Elves. I cannot remember if she disapproves if you choose the other options, but I don't think she has the best interests of elves at heart.

I know you need a mage for healing, so yeah I think your options are limited. You can always tough it out and try a party without shemlen magic. Why do you trust in shemlen magic anyway? Are you a shemlen sympathizer now? :P
But if you must have a shemlen mage, maybe Wynne. She had an elf apprentice before, who still respects her if you do her quest. This shows that Wynne is not like the human oppressors, she actually treats elves like equals.

Or maybe pick Shale. Between her crystals, she should be able to ensure less damage taken, so less healing needed.

Hmm I'm not sure. The Templars have hunted down elf apostate mages before.

The mages at least accept elves into their ranks, and they are mages first, and race second. Do you see any elf templars? Exactly.

If you purge the Circle of Magi, you end up purging some of your fellow elves. Who knows, maybe you will finally have an Elf First Enchanter. That certainly isn't possible with Templars.

You can always make Morrigan a healer if you bought the book in another game or if you buy it later in this game. If you poison the ashes of andraste make sure to do this without before you pick up wynne. She will leave you when you return to camp, no wait please do not leave me conversation. Zevren does not like to hear how you killed the dalish and sided with the werewolfs, but if you are doing everything in the interest of the dalish elves then you would just take witherfangs heart and bring it back to the keeper. As for the mages it does not matter if you side with the templars or the mages the circle will still be brought back. And on that note as well if you want to keep wynne in that fight be on the fence about what to do with the mages. If you outright side with Cullen she tries to stop you from entering the door, and they find out about morrigan and there is a chance she will leave you if you use the line letting one blood mage live will doom us all. Other than that good luck.

I don't remember either.  But supporting the Werewolves would compromise the Dalish.

Lol, no.  But I don't think being a Circle of Magi Elf is the same.   At the end, you get less Dalish boons and more crony ones like "strengthen the Circle"

But if you must have a shemlen mage, maybe Wynne. She had an elf apprentice before, who still respects her if you do her quest. This shows that Wynne is not like the human oppressors, she actually treats elves like equals.

Morrigan might be as tolerable towards Elves as she never states anything speciesist and will bed the main character (while most human females would shriek at the idea).

Wynne on the other hand, while tolerable, supports the Circle of Magi and wishes to rebuild / strengthen it.  So she poses a larger security threat to the Dales than Morrigan.

Or maybe pick Shale. Between her crystals, she should be able to ensure less damage taken, so less healing needed.

I am planning on doing so.  But I am not keeping Shale for the entire game.  I'll be using Shale in the Circle of Magi and Orzammar and bretray her when I side with Bianka.   Then on, Oghren will be my main tank.  :P

Sure, having a Golem is nice, but I rather have twelve thousand Golems fighting humans!

Hence the reason she has to go.  I plan on keeping her around for most of the Circle of Magi, but side with Cullen at the end and purge everyone; including Wynne.

If your pursuade is high enough she will accept your decision to keep the anvil.

Is this true? Although is this before the fight starts with Caidrain?

Although I think you mean the option to persuade Shale, back at camp, after you keep the Anvil.

Yes back at camp. Before you go to the anvil of the void just go back to camp change your party then lie to her when you come back from the fight.

The Mages of the Circle don't care about Dalish Elves using magic, the Templars do.  The Mages aren't a well armed military force that can roam Fereldan at will, the Templars are.  With Mages in the Tower the Templars will be dedicating a lot of their forces to watching them, as opposed to hunting you.  Your best bet in my opinion would be to save the Mages so they can hold the bulk of the Templars interest meaning they'll harass the Dalish a lot less.
