I don't understand why people keep saying "check your firewall." Clearly everyone here has been playing before the patch and only have issues now. They did not all suddenly get firewalls or change their settings. The game's network software was change and screwed with everyone's connection reliability. The correct action here is to call for BioWare to FIX the problem they created with the patch.

Firewalls CAN just change, at least if they are software on windows. Some of the software will check if the executable associated with the port has changed, and if so, block ports it previously accepted. An update can do this, although the check is for whether a virus has tampered with it. The reality of the situation though is that 99% of people who had a good firewall setting will still have a good firewall setting. The other side of the coin toss is that if you want to properly debug and methodically prove what is NOT the problem, it is just so much easier to turn off the firewall for a few minutes to test than it is not be sure. If you call BW and tell them with or without firewall there is no diff, with or without a router there is no diff, you can immediately avoid that part of the conversation and get to escalation.

At this point, I have opened up my ports, added exes to the firewall, shutoff firewall/antivirus and I still get the error.

Not sure what else I can do other than wait.

Now try those things combined with right click on the program and run as administrator, rather than just running. Btw, is this windows 7?

I have all the same symptoms, run as administrator does not make any difference either.

There are network issues at BW, it's not realistic that suddenly everyones setups are starting to have issues.

Finding out what address or port is at issue could help a lot. What is the exact point of failure for you? Is it on startup of any of the apps? Is it clicking on multiplayer? Then does it give an error or just stall and time out?

No idea. I'm a techy person & 99% sure the problem is not on my side. I have a router but by PC is in the DMZ, so the only thing between me and the game server is my windows firewall. The mass effect 3 executable has full rights there. I do remember I have some QoS rules set on my router, can try to disable those.

Alright, this is weird and I'm not sure if it's a coincidence but I left ME3 MP running in the background for a couple of hours and when I returned I was able to play without being disconnected from the ME3 server.

I was able to play for hours, but then I couldn't resist the urge to purchase some packs, the last purchase dropped my server connection.

It threw me back to the SP menu and when I re-entered MP I was suffering server disconnections again.

I thought I'd try it again so I left it on the MP menu overnight and tried playing again today -- it's working!

It's got to be a coincidence right? Anyone feel like trying this out?

So far as firewall goes, it isn't just MassEffect3.exe. You also must allow EACoreServer.exe and Origin.exe.

Next, do you have a non-routable private IP address that the router is doing proxy for? The DMZ may not get around that.

Since there is a router, is there more than one device on it? The importance there is if the other device could possibly invalidate ports, even if only momentarily. A very good test is to remove the router if possible for just long enough to test without it.

Even if there is nothing wrong at your end (and I'm thinking probably there isn't), it's pretty much YOU that has to find out what part is not responding...EA sure isn't going to help.

Exactly when does it fail? During a game? Trying to join a game? Trying to start multiplayer mode? During startup?

They pretend that the problem does not exist, because they can not solve it. Convenient policy - pretend blind.
It follows that the probability of solving the problem is zero. Maybe when they are once again going to do maintenance work on the server - accidentally fix the problem.

It turns out there's going to be a maintenance cycle on the 21st of this month, two days from now. Hopefully they fix it during then on purpose or accidently.

And E71, how long did you keep it on before you began to play?

Also, what I think happens when we lose connection is something to do with Origin. I get the feeling while you're playing, it does something with the server. It's like it gathers information to send to the server, then finds out it can't get the server. I'd say the server is down, but obviously not if we play it..albeit for five minutes. Maybe the timeout rate is too small for what it has to do.

I don't remember how long I left it the first time (it was probably about 5 hours), the second time was about 7-8 hours.

It's still working for me, I just never quit ME3.

been happening to me all weekend again and even during store purchases. At one point it looked like I lost all my characters in the character select screen. Had to restart ME3 for them to re-appear.

Yesterday I played eight games and there was no disconnection. Before the game, turned off the transmission network statistics.
Once turned on, the connection was lost on the second wave.

Posting, again, to hopefully help draw some attention to the subject. Since the issue started last week, there's been no improvement. If anything, it has gotten more frequent. I've even completely uninstalled both Origin and ME3 in the hopes that it would help. I made it a few matches before the disconnect error occurred.

I know it takes time to resolve bugs/glitches and to create a patch, but this is incredibly frustrating.

I know this might not be the source of problem but still ... my friend said he had this problem in demo when he had a Nvidia video card, so any of you guys that disconnect, do you happen to have a Nvidia video card?

It is not an nVidia issue...in fact it isn't even a PC issue. The disconnects also plague PS3 and Xbox. There just happens to be a LOT of nVidia cards in the world. It is a failed implementation of reliability over UDP.

The transmission what now? Also, where does one find such an option?
