Hi all, ive just recently returned to NWN2/MOTB and; after yet another failed duelist build and boredom of the bard/fighter/rdd/fb build i wanted to play something a bit more my usual melee style(on other games) a battle axe barbarian.
ive seen a few things people have written here and around about babas being underpowered but my idea was to take notes from the auto level pure barbarian then change it up to meet my own ends.
i was thinking 20 levels of baba so when i finally get SOZ i can go 10 levels of FB but this is why im asking as i have no idea if this is a good build
my skills would be intimidate, taunt, tumble (ac bonus) use magic device (monk boots/other class specific items that might be useful) and spellcasting (spell defence).
Feats would match the default baba with a few choice customisation options of my own, he would also have 18 str, 12 dex, 14con/int and 10wis/cha to start with pure str when levelling up.
before i forget i dont care about falcions or whatever weapons have the best crit, i dont care about power builds, i just want a fun role-play build i can enjoy playing and relate to(as lets face it the story/voice acting/team ai is total dross and makes the game a struggle to play with boring/crappy characters)
please leave your posts here or message me with hints, tips, advice or even builds that you think may work (especially if anyone has a way to work a decent duelist or neverwinter nine melee as my 2rog/6fight/7duel/5nw9 seems to have fallen flat on his face, i cant even get past the bloody bladeling assassins in the merchant quarter after old own well with him and i really wanted to try nw9 build ((how embarassing))
thanks

Barbarians are tricky to play, since if you plan to use Rage a lot then you'll want a two-handed weapon to make the most of the strength bonus. Yet without a shield you can really notice Rage's armour class hit. The traditional hide armour is also very poor protection.
If you want to go non-traditional, you can use mithral fullplate instead of hide (it counts as medium armour). A breastplate might also do the trick - although you'd want a high dexterity score to get the most out of it. There's nothing stopping you taking a heavy armour feat along the way though, and wearing plain old full-plate.
I've found that 'Bardbarians' (Bard/Barbarian) are a useful combination. Bards can take a feat that allows them to cast in medium armour, and even a few low-level spells or inspirations can help boost your armour class. Having your own healing spells at hand is another bonus. Although you'd then want to boost charisma as well as strength, constitution, and perhaps dexterity, which can stretch your ability points a bit too thin.
Barbarians prove quite useful in Storm of Zehir on the overland map, since you can ramp up their tracking and survival skills (the latter stacking with their faster movement rate, so you can zip across even rough terrain).

Barbarian 17/Fighter 8/Frezerker 5 is a simple and classic split that may fit your needs. Examples:
STR based: http://nwn2db.com/build/?41959
STR & CON based with damage reduction: http://nwn2db.com/build/?38388
Note that stats are horribly min-maxed on those two builds. It's normally advisable to have some INT for skills, etc.
