In a gold game, apparently I had accidentally killed one of someone's sabotaged target. I didn't know this yet, but I hear a few seconds after I do "Person with the mic, quit being a dck" followed by more obscenities and something else I couldn't exactly hear. I wanted to figure out what exactly warranted calling me this, especially when in reality it was over something so minimal as a destroyed sabotage. 

So I get on my mic and ask him why exactly he's so angry with me, and goes on to tell me what exactly sabotage does. Well, yeah, thanks Einstien. I know what the power does, I was asking what I did wrong and he begins to talk down to me as if I'm completely clueless while I'm carrying his sorry bum. I at least know now what exactly did wrong.

But worst yet when I told him I was sorry, and he didn't need to call me a dck, he turns and says this instead. 
"Well would you prefer I call you a [insert women genitalia here] instead?"

I mean, really? 
The moment you find out I'm a girl you use that against me? From a grown man, no less. At that point I didn't want to hear another word from him so I just turned off my mic but continued to play in their lobby where I continued to carry him and the rest of the team. 

So what I'm getting at, is. There is usually absolutely no point for me to use my mic and try and play tactically with anyone (besides friends) in this community, because all it results in are petty insults. If I wanted to argue with grown men I'd be playing CoD or some other FPS right now. /rantrant

Anyone else run into some lovely users as of late?

I never mic with randoms. Last time I did, someone insisted I was African-American and was in fact a kill-stealing homosexual.

Bah, people kill the things I sabotage all the time. At this point the only thing that ability is useful for is weakening synthetic targets. I think you should recommend him a good psychiatrist. It would be funny.

I play on PC, and I never hear any insults or harassment over the mic. Also occasionally do play with women using a mic, and no one harasses them either.

I've found the mic on 360 to be a double-edged sword. On one hand, I've become friends with a number of randoms while mic'd with whom I know play regularly, but on the other hand...it's the 360 community.

I almost never encounter rude people on mic. TBH, its more often that I'll encounter really friendly people who are a little annoying, but I'm always nice to them anyway lol. I've actually got a few people on my friends list just from talking to random people on mic. Also, at least a few times people have recognized me from the forums (my gamertag is the same as my forum tag) and say hi to me.

This is one of the reasons i packed up my consoles and migrated to PC.

Far too many internet 'hardmen' that give abuse because of the anonymity.

When in reality you know a good portion of them are spotty brats with arms the size of noodles!

Not saying PC players are perfect. were far from it infact!
I personally find less D!cks playing.

Actually you can kill banshees, brutes with it and not use anything else

Why does everyone think that xbox is full of ****s... Yes we have MORE WHINERS that complain about everything but I have only ever landed in one game where someone is a complete asswipe. The crime i convicted, i stood near him when he was an infiltrator doing the 4-point objective, he then proceeded to get killed. I explained to him that i had no choice as i was being followed by a banshee and a prime and all i could do was run.

That's one of many reasons why I detach the mics from my headsets and throw them away as soon as possible. I get so tired of idiots in voice chats it's frustrating.So I can always truthfully tell people that I don't have a mic or that my mic is broken. They're generally too thick to even wonder how the hell you break one of those things.

hmm I never encountered many people using mics on the xbox...When some does have a mic on usually all I get is gibberish that sounds like the geth in ME1.

Do people really get upset about killing things they are trying to? You can get as many points for assists as kills anyway. I usually throw singularity and shockwaves so other players can pick them off.

In public games there's no reason for a player to get offended because another player isn't doing exactly what they think they should be doing. If what a player is doing is harming the team and it comes from a lack of experience then helping that player with suggestions is much better than insults... If it comes from outright trolling or cheating in a game then I have no problem dropping the game, IMO. Otherwise people who claim I am stealing kills can either hear me asking why they didn't kill them first, or dead silence.

You certainly had no reason to go on playing with a rude person like that, but good on you to play your game.

I'm on PSN and wouldn't mind playing with you. Need to get on in a minute and check for operation rewards. Just send me a friend request!

Meh this is why I set my sabotage up for explosions and backfire damage. In the chaos of MP 9 times out of 10 the sabotaged target just gets gibbed instantly. Not to mention the fact hacking is only really useful against geth, and significantly less so for Cerberus and reapers.

Long story short, that guy was a ****** and you should probably just forget everything he said.

I kill the things I sabotage myself... that guy probably just knew he was bad and needed sabotaged targets to do the work for him. Hope you reported him.

I've run into a few aholes on PS3 as well, although since I don't use a mic, I was spared interaction with them. They exist everywhere; that's the world we live in, unfortunately.

D: I'm sorry. PC mic-users are generally very friendly, and I've met some of my best team mates for gold and plat runs just through having games with other talkers.

Hopefully you'll meet some nicer people.
