"Someone's sabotaged target"

lol, why not just respond that you were picking up the slack left by worthless scrub players using useless powers?

considering sabotage also greatly increases the damage done to banshees, brutes, phantoms, and any other non-synthetic enemy, its far from useless, despite the popular opinion of it.

a backfired banshee dies in seconds with a team firing at it.
shes one of the better characters for platinum because of this, combined with atlas, prime, and pyro hacks.

D: I'm sorry. PC mic-users are generally very friendly, and I've met some of my best team mates for gold and plat runs just through having games with other talkers.

Hopefully you'll meet some nicer people.

I have the same experience and I am on PC. Most PC players don't speak up (even when they have mics). The ones that do are friendly and appreciative, like saying "Thank you" over the mic when you revive them and "good job, guys" when we pull off a hairy wave 10 drone escort objective on platinum. Then there are those more experienced player who co-ordinates the strategy on Gold and Platinum when we are doing things wrong. On the whole its been a pleasant experience. I'm surprised things are so starkly different on the consoles.

I play PS3 also and my mic is always off unless I'm playing w/ friends. I've noticed that in public games you usually just get a bunch of complainers about steeling their kills when I'm usually always carrying them. The funny thing is that when my friends and I are playing and using mics our discussions are never about the game. Instead we just joke around and talk random bulls***. One time I even had a public person turn their mic on and yell at me and a friend because we were supposedly no "paying attention" when we both got over twice his score and of course he rage quits afterwards. Anyways.. just thought I'd share w/ y'all.

Same here.  People who have mics on for random public games tend to be very annoying.  The PS3 headset is nice; you just turn voice chat off.  I use my mic when playing with friends.

No, PS3 actually.

I know it's bad on xbox though. Haha.

On behalf of all male PS3 players I apologize for that kind of behavior. The PS3 is pretty humble and friendly, but there is always a turd in the punch bowl as the saying goes.

I'm at PC... and I have a different kind of problem.
I can't hear ANYONE. Everyones mics are on low or something and my game doesn't register my tries to use my mic.

So I actually have no idea if people have tried to cuss me out.

Well about the sabotage thing though. If my mic worked I'd rather tell the team that if they saw giant sizzly frack me lights, SHOOT IT! SHOOT IT GUDDAMIT!
Seriously. It glows, it means I want it dead ASAP.

Lol, what a shame. If the guy ranting would have simply just left it at the initial "You on the mic, quit being a dick", I'd have given him/her kudos for the rhyme and tried to avoid him in the match so s/he got more targets for herself.

A single rhymed chastising, even with swearing, is classy, but a rant barrage is simply meh. Only gaming peasants do that.

@ Ziegrif:

Maybe we should play together a couple more times. I got a mic and will happily chat ingame. I might even go on and evaluate your alleged "weird" builds realtime, educating whatever randoms we're tugging along. For Science!

Well sounds interesting. Haven't seen that many Sniper Krogans so some feedback would be nice. Kinda started to cut back on the weirdness, team oriented QI is a bit too much fun for now.
But yeah sure send me an invite one of these days. I'm in and out randomly.
Would also appreciate someone testin em mics on me.

I was in a lobby getting some "tactical advice" on my weapons in russian. I asked them to speak english so I could understand them. I get some more russian speak in angry tone and recognize one word, mudak. Then I got kicked.
Image IPB
So please, if you want to give some advice then give it in a "universal" language everyone understands as most of the people understand english with russian accent more than russian itself.

I have sabotage setup for backfire and + 50% tech damage. When I use it to hack a synthetic it's so it's easier for us to kill.
People should stop assuming everyone knows hacked target = Don't kill, and if you have a mic and you hack a target you want to stay alive then say something.

EDIT: Oops Missed out Stop assuming

Recently I've run into a couple of douchey players. I got into a gold reaper match and there were 2 guys with mics. Through out the game they kept saying how infiltrators suck (me and the other guy with no mic were using Shadow) and that they could catch up with our scores combined by letting us do all the work in the early rounds. They would deliberately die or I would rez them (because I'm too nice :P). I stayed in the match because the other Shadow player was pretty good. In the end one of the douchey guys got insta-killed or something. Still the other shadow player came in first and I was second :D I think one of them said if he didn't die he would have tripled our scores (mind you he died in wave 11). This was on PS3 too. Back in lobby they said lets kick those guys- I really wanted to tell them I'm not a guy but it's probably not worth it :P

Some players do that: they can't play for chips throughout the entire game, and at wave 11 they race to the spawnpoints and keep rocketlaunching (and you thought they forgot where that button was in the first place!) it for dozens of points for their ePeen.
Wave 11 matters, but so do the 10 waves before it. If you can't rake in the kills before extraction, then camping that spawn point doesn't mean a thing to me.

I only use my mic when playing with friends, since I don't want to talk to random jerks and hear what they have to say while I'm carrying their sorry as*es through games. Most of them quit by Wave 2 anyway when they are not top of the scoreboard, so why should I even attempt to talk to them?

I've even given up on telling people that SMG ULM's don't work and stuff like that, it's just not worth telling them when they accuse you of being elitist, claiming it "works for them" and when someone using ULM on a non-GPSMG joins the next lobby. Just screw 'em. Call me elitist or whatever, but the truth is this game is swarmed with dum*as*es that are not worth investing my time.

The fact that they had their sabotage specced for hack not damage, synth explosion and tech vulnerability, just beggs for the targets to be killed. dont feel bad, keep at it.

Yeah I played a game yesterday with some kid that sounded like he couldn't have been over twelve.  I usually leave games where I hear people talking over the mic but I had gotten dropped into this one in-progress.

He was the only one talking, which I have to admit made it kind of funny.  Kid would fly into strings of obscenities every time he died, was talking TO the enemy like they were people, and could occassionally be heard asking his mom for food.  Honestly kind of blew my mind that a kid as young sounding as that was using the kind of language he was right in front of his parents.  But still, I was laughing so hard that entire match that I couldn't hold it against him.

I also actually had a guy go nuts at me for killing his sabotage targets once too.  I wasn't killing them on purpose before he did that, but you can bet I was after.  I'm petty, and I'm completely okay with that.

Worst I've ever got was some guy who was clearly insecure about the make-up of his team (while not excellent, we were still going through it with no great difficulty) who demanded most of us (particularly myself) go back to Silver. I get loads of good, courteous team players and the odd guy who's willing to let me load out with only a predator on Gold so I can give myself more of a challenge.

Guess I got the cream of the xbox crop.

I play on PS3 too and try to avoid people with mics most of the time. Rarely ever are they helpful or informative; they just curse and yell the majority of the time.

@OP, that is very cheap of the person, after all its only a game and no need to get so emotional and mouth obscenities over the mic. i play on PC, as one person quoted "i hardly get to hear anything" - just got out from a gold match - had a very bad lag, kept dying in fact felt ashamed myself - not that bad a player myself even then not a squeak from the others, i wonder what would it have been if i were on the other communities. PS : not evangelizing about PC but speaking from my experience on PC and what i hear from the forums (about the other communities)

If you are looking for more mature PS3 players you can invite me. PSN Id: Loladan.
I have a mic and play Gold/Plat and know a fair amount of other mature players.
I play almost every night after 7 p.m. EST.

when i go online i always assume everyone else to be an idiot without telling that to them so when someone shows hes not i am only suprised in a good way and if someone is the idiot i feel supported in my theory and feel good about that at least.

In general i meet idiots everywhere and it does not matter if it is on xbox or pc (dont have ps3 so im sparing that plattform). Generally i prefer to not talk and in most cases where someone decides to talk and give advise it shows he does not understand too much beside him feeling that way but im glad im not using mic in that moment or i could retaliate with some harsh words i would regret later.

So all in all no mic is usually better i think.
Although it would help if people wouldnt spell so much nonsense through it ^^.
But its the people, not a plattform or a game...

Not a good reason not to use your mic. Just don't talk to ****s. Leave and find rooms with friendly people.

On PC it's so annoying talking to myself. I wish more people would use their mics.

Have only heard one player so far on their Mic (PC) ... would use mine but too new to speak up.

I don't like speaking in game with randoms much either, although after a game is complete and I'm ready to leave, i do offer a polite "Thank you for the game, goodnight".

To the original poster, sorry you went through that.  It has less to do with the game and more to do with a general sampling of people in this world.  Maybe he was having a bad day, but there really isn't an acceptable excuse.  We're all accountable for our own behavior towards others.

If you think this is bad, try Xbox. Half the time you get little kids or people with incredibly loud background noise. The mute option works really well.
