I can't believe people still think sabotage is to play remote controlled geth. _Always_ take out the sabotaged target because it is the safest time to do so. Only time I do not is when a hunter suddenly appears and I have to take it out first.

I find that there are proportionally more immature people that play games in general than I usually encounter with the real world. I'm finding more and more that if I do something else, the less angry I get. Maybe I'm outgrowing gaming.

You can never be too old for gaming, but gaming can sometimes get old.  If they didn't cost $60 each, changing games wouldn't be so bad.

Does anyone feel any different today than say you did back when Ultima 7 Part 1 was new?  Or does anyone even know what I'm talking about?

Anyone else run into some lovely users as of late?

Well, one time I saw one of my random squadmates just standing behind a crate doing nothing for some time.
So I asked him over the mike,if he was still there. No response.
Passing by him again after killing some enemies he still hadn't moved, so I asked him nicely, if he was a happy camper. No response.
A wave later he was still just standing in a corner. So I again said in a nice tone, that this isn't fair behaviour towards the rest of the team.

Suddenly he responded, that we had let him bleed out and now he would teach us a lesson and we would have to work for our credits and giving him a freeride on our backs.

I usually try to revive my squadmates whenever possible. But sometimes it's just not possible to do it in time. Especially if it is a player running alone all over the map and dying repeatedly in the midst of a bunch of enemies. I am NOT a farmer/camper and also usually utilizing the complete map. But I try to stay close to my squadmates or try to focus on staying alive when not. And should I go down far from them, I USE MEDI-GEL to spare them quitting whatever they are doing and having to run through the whole map.

I also don't get the point, why someone would have more fun just standing there and watching the other three players fight alone. I mean isn't the point of the game to fight the enemies and having fun while doing it?

Anyhow, I told him that his "smart" strategy might fail, because we might not succeed and thus nobody would gain any money. My squadmates got downed at some point in Wave 7 (they weren't the best randoms anyways) and I got downed too. Usually I'd used a MEDI-GEL and tried reviving them or solo-ing the rest of the Wave, but I resented the idea of investing any more of my equipment into this match with only 3 active players, so instead I let myself bleed out and told the guy, if he wanted the money he would have to do it now by himself.

Then he started calling me all kinds of names.

Some people in the game are really big a**h**** and too stupid to understand even why playing a game is supposed to be fun.

It's rare that I'll plug in my mic for random pugs. I guess I don't have the patience to put up with quick tempered, juveniles who blame the rest of the world for their problems. It's probably better to leave and switch lobbies than to give them any satisfaction by listening to their crap. There isn't any excuse for that kind of behaviour and neither should we support it.

sounds like he was just trying to leech while the rest of your team did all the hardwork. and i agree with people being a-holes. some people just take games way too serious and don't even know how to have fun. jerks.

I wasn't going to report him for being a moron, lol.
People have a right to say what they want, I just don't like the fact that this makes them think they can try and belittle other players.

Sure, people have the right to say what they want, but that right doesnt shield them from the conseqences of doing so.  Part of the agreement you have to agree to when you play covers such.... behaviour.

Also you have the right to play the game with out being insulted and degraded

However, in the end, the choice to report some one is up to you, dont let me [or anyone else] make you do something you dont want to do.

I only tend to use my mic with friends, too. Never really /need/ to use one, but it can be more entertaining with your buddies. As a general rule, I don't waste my energy on losers whining over mic.

I used my mic to warn a guy there was multiple phantom behind him, and he told me to go **** my mother, and when he died I laughed over the mic then he started calling me every name under the sun :(

I would've laughed even more lol. And then said "You should totally rage quit, you're kinda useless just lying there on the ground. No offense, but honestly I'm not a fan of people who are rude on the mic.

The mic should be used for the following:

- Warning a team mate of possible dangers.
- Asking for help.
- Random chit-chat: Updates for the game others might not know about (ex. Weekend Operations)

The microphone's aren't there for you to shout profanities at your teammates. Feel free to yell out whatever at your enemies (ex. F**k you Phantom, up yours Prime).

I understand there are frustrating players out there, those who seem like they don't know what they're doing, or where they're going; but that's when you explain what's happening. Calmly, or jokingly.

Best thing I've heard over the mike was a guy with a really strong British rude boy accent singing 'pretty woman' over and over again, occasionally punctuated by 'whoa dats a masiv singularitee!'

Worst is when I got dumped into a gold lobby as a level 10 against my will, and some drunk guy started whining then decided they'd let me stay if I was a real girl. We wiped before the end of wave 1.

I like it when sensible people have mics though, helps to have people who'll warn you if a phantoms about to sneak up on you and such.

Was on Xbox last night as well and joined a bunch of randoms on a Glacier Platinum run.
Was using a lvl 20 Destroyer and configuing in the lobby, when the randoms started making fun of my character and other things I can't mentioned and wanted me to change to a Demolisher.

I was going to say something but just put myself in Ready. All three of then continued for another minute or so, but I admit I was being stubborn. If they were going to kick me, then whatever. They finaly relented and started the run.

In the game, was nothing but harrasment. During the pizza delivery mission, I ran out , turned off my devastor mode and grabbed the package. All I hear is how my character suxs, blah blah.

Was leading in score , until wave 10 when we had another pizza delivery mission where I again delivered the package. That bumped me down to the lowest scoring one while they tech slashed their way in the room with their N7 shadows and grenade spammed.

Man I wish I would have got the high score on that run.

That's what you save Cobras on Wave 11 for. ;)

/then yell 'I WIN!' on the mic
//and leave

It's one thing if they had a headset where you could remove the mic and directly connect their mp3 player so that at least you can hear their music properly, but noooo, they have to blast it via their mic with a very low fidelity. ;P

Of course every platform has idiots.  And some games are worse than others.  League of Legends for example is a cesspool of idiots.

I'm genuinely surprised by PC players on Mass Effect 3 though.  The majority are decent enough players, or even if they aren't very good most of them at least try.  I can count the number of "annoying mic" users on one hand from the entire time I've been playing since the demo.

Most times I get some dudes who call out missile strikes and unseen enemies. A few times now I've had the misfortune of playing with the same pig, who spends the entire match talking about how she wants to eat and go shopping while being a **** to the 4th guy in the room who although not quite as skilled, was a decent player. And invariably there's always some dude trying to hard to impress her like in most games with a woman on mic. Must be tough just to sit down and play a game when dudes are trying to turn it into a dating opportunity. After today I had enough and negative reviewed them for inane chatter. Times like this I wish the 360 controller had a remote taser function.

I hate using my mic. People are racists. From the sound of my voice they assume I can't afford Xbox , Xbox live or a tv. They assume I'm playing on cardboard tv an what not. Really annoys. What I hate the most is I never use my mic, BUT, my negative feed back on my Xbox live profile is about me talking trash? WTF is that all about.

so with the choice to choose any name for your username, you choose the name notorious thug then complain about being generalized? whats ur gamertag?

He wasn't complaining about being stereotyped as a notorious thug, though.  He was complaining about people being racist (i.e. equating race with class/income status/etc. and making assumptions about his ethnicity based on his voice).  Personally, I'd assume a 'notorious thug', or at least a successful one, would be rolling in dough, because if you're a poor gangsta, you're doing it wrong. ;)

I have only ran into dbags on Xbox a very small number of times. And all of those times, I unleashed the ultimate weapon, the bane of their very existence...www.youtube.com/watch

Most of the people who annoy me over the mic are just preteens who don't sound like they're old enough to warrant playing the game. Now, when I run into those kind of people, I'll either A: tolerate it, or B: turn off my mic and listen to music instead.

I'm on pc and have never heard any smut over the mic. Never hear anything much over the mic... Most of the time it's just me talking. Occasionally after a match has ended someone will have built up enough courage to say something, like good game.

It probably has to do with the fact that you're a woman. I mean, I wouldn't know jack about being a female gamer, but from what I can put together from various complaints from them, it sounds like you're just going to have to learn to be apathetic about people's feelings. It's the main problem with anonymity that everybody just has to learn to accept.
