So who likes elves in Renaissance clothing? I know this girl does. Hooray for possibly leaked artwork!

It was early - page three or four. But try this

Top pic looked elf-ish to me, but at second glance could just be a really slender human. Hard to tell. Don't think it's Sera, though - she looks too well-dressed to me.

My reaction to the possibility of that pic being true..

*broken link* :crying:

I think that armor looks great. It definitely fits the Orlais setting. I'm personally one who is glad Bioware is going to more iconic looks like DA2. If they can provide a good balance of variety in armor and make it all look unique like the Champion set in DA2...see my reaction gif above.

I have to say though, I'm not a big fan of Orlais. Mostly because I couldn't stand the accents in the first two games. I'd imagine Bioware isn't going to make everyone in Orlais have a french accent. I might not be able to handle the game if they did...lol.

Yeah, the Orlesian accents so far have been pretty 'orrible. ;)

Like the fact that the half-picture of the guy below looks a little older. It suddenly strikes me as weird that in DAII all of our companions seemed to be no older than 35, if that. I'll be incredibly sad if I can't have something like that grizzly bear of a Grey Warden in the artwork shown at Pax.

But I agree - the outfits looked awesome. Decorative and practical, AND suited to the setting. I've heard complaints that some of the DAII architecture and clothing were too Renaissance-y for a "medieval fantasy" game, but really, I think it's mostly Ferelden that's stuck in the 1600's (for lack of a better term). The rest of Thedas seems to be advancing along nicely.

Yea, all the countries are completely different. That seems to fit the setting perfectly for Orlais, IMO. I can see why they wanted more iconic armor too if this is all true. Orlais armor needs to be intricate and very colorful.

My only concern about Bioware going to iconic looks is the resources they have to devote in that. Since they're designing it where one piece of armor can have multiple different looks, that's going to double their work load. This means something is going to get sacrificed. I'm hoping it's not variety in armor looks. Dragon Age Origins was awful in armor variety. Almost everything looked the same...

This probably plays big into race customization too. I doubt we'll get to play as Dwarf because they so short, they need unique 3D models when it comes to armor/weapons. That doubles their work again...

Compromise is going to come somewhere with the system they proposed. I'm interested to see where that compromise is...customization is important to me in the DA games.

I agree. And somethings (ironically) not "same" enough. At a certain point in the game it was a lot of "Hmm. Do I wear my iron plate with my non-matching silverite plate, or do I wear my non-matching viridium? Choices!"

I like the idea of mix and match pieces that are almost guaranteed to have some kind of "flow" together. I'm excited to give it a try.

In my opinion (whatever that's worth) a sequel should pretty much take everything that was accomplished in the first game and make it bigger and better. So I'll never be satisfied with any reason (no matter how rational) about how the spread of resources means I can't play a dwarf again.

Never!

I have a really bad habit of wearing armor that I find attractive. In Dragon Age, I'll often wear armor that I think looks "cool" even though the stats might be inferior.

I can't stand running around in mage armor that's a dress on my male mage. Why does all mage armor have to follow that cliche? Why can't more mage armor look like the Champion set? I'm not saying let them run around in massive armor, but mages can wear light armor. Not just robes...

If I have a choice of wearing a dunce cap on my mage with superior stats over a awesome looking helmet with inferior stats, I'm going with the latter.

I'd love to see Bioware put some type of system in the game where I can swap armor visuals out. Or maybe stats. That way I can still get armor that looks awesome and isn't statistically inferior...but I'm probably in the minority playing like that anyway.

Nuh uh - I totally do that too. In fact in DA:O I was constantly getting irked if my companions didn't have matching or cool armor, and there were so many armos that I felt were just *wrong* for that character (legion armor looked so BA on Sten, but *belonged* on Oghren) and I had to compulsively fix it. Zevran's dalish gloves and leather boots drove me crazy. Nothing matched! Nothing!! I never let him actually keep those, poor thing.

But as for mage robes, Anders gave us a perfectly good reason why they all wear those and you know it.  Image IPB Still, I was really pleased with some of them from DAII, especially the ones that looked just like light leather armors. But not the ones that made you look like a flambouyant pirate.

Anyway, about the survey being real or not - a friend did some digging with some people she knows in the industry and said that survey is actually a key logger (am I using the right term?) - anyway, a virusy-type thing that keeps track of your internet activities and passwords.

So if her source is correct it'll have been just a really elaborate way to screw people over. Which is sad, but then why wouldn't the devs come out and say "It's fake, and furthermore it's dangerous"?

With the name of the game, I wished they'd just stayed away from numbering them.

Dragon Age: Origins
Dragon Age: Exile
Dragon Age: Inquisition

sounds so much cooler than

Dragon Age: Origins
Dragon Age 2
Dragon Age 3: Inquisition

It's too late for DA2, but hopefully they'll drop the 3 from the next game.

Well, with a bit of luck they'll go for a numberless title and allow us to skip DAII when it comes to save importing (so straight from DAO/DAA/WH to this new game), so we can all just pretend DAII never existed...

You're saying that the survey company made all this up so they can put keyloggers on PCs? Or the survey company wasn't legit? Either way, not good.

I know that some companies do try to put stuff like that on PCs and try to make it where it's not malicious. But I don't see how they can justify saying, "we're just tracking your activities" as not being harmful.

Usually tracking cookies do this. But a keylogger is much worse. It's criminal. Keyloggers are malicious and used to steal all your info with the intent of using it against you. Tracking cookies mostly just collect data for corporations. A keylogger is something a hacker would use to steal all your personal info...

Maybe Bioware doesn't know about it?

This could still all be real. Some survey companies do put things like cookies out or asks you to install software that can track your daily activities. They're not always intended to be malicious but anybody who willingly installs it on their PC isn't very smart.

Interesting.

They probably want to avoid the inference that would come of it since most people would immidiately connect it directly to DA2. They want to move past DA2, not remind everyone about it.

That's a really good point.

Although the series numbering would be a bit strange, Origins -> 2 -> Inquisition

... that's a pretty elaborate and secretive keylogger, surely. Especially if the intent is to steal as many people's information as possible, you'd think they'd want to make it widely available instead of on a well-known survey site.

More to the point, unless any of the fields had users entering passwords or other confidential information, it doesn't seem likely that it's a keylogger...?

There's concept art being shown at Gamescom, would be interested to see if any of it matches what was apparently in the survey.
