No, they have metallic skin colour. Sten from Origins had bronze, those in DAII had silver. I believe in some recent (or not so recent) interview David Gaider said something about the wish to explain the reason for this sometime-somewhere.
I think they simply come from different places: after all, we don't know exactly how big the qunari lands are.

Aaaand it's morning here!

To add to what you were discussing a few hours ago: I think that - if you're gonna have romances in a game - they should ALWAYS be available to both genders, EXCEPT there's a very important reason why this would make no sense.

That way everybody is happy. You don't even have to think of it as them being bisexual. If your Hawke/Warden/whatever is female, then Fenris is straight, if it's male, then he's gay. Problem?

I don't think sexual orientation is such a fixed thing. I'm bi myself, and I think there are lots of 'straight' people who have been attracted to someone of the same gender at least once in their life, and just decided not to act on it.

how do you think morrigan will appear in DA3!?!?!? :pinched:

From Silent Grove, we discover that Flemeth has multiple daughters and they're all working on perserving Dragons and they discuss in throw-away detail that they used to rule Thedas in a time before the Veil.

This implies the Veil is a recent creation, something which seperates the Fade and reality--something which is further hinted at in the following prophecy which to my knowledge only occurs if you've done the Dark Ritual:

Sandal: One day the magic will come back. All of it. Everyone will be just like they were. The shadows will part, and the skies will open wide.

Bodahn: Huh. What's this?

Sandal: When he rises, everyone will see.

Bodahn: By the ancestors, what's gotten into you, my boy?

Sandal: Enchantment?

Bodahn: Hmph. That's more like it.

[/list]Now to dissect.

So "magic" will return and "everyone will be like they were", pretty much saying that everyone will become mages. This was implied elsewhere in the series, such as the Nexus Golem which says the following:

"We were once more than we are."

Once again, implying that everyone used to be something before. The elves also believe in ancient times that they used to all be mages, the talent slowly disappearing from them and creating their current race's limitations and powers.

So basically, everyone will become mages. Which is bad (or good, depending on how you see it).

Then we've got the "shadows" and how the "skies will open wide", where did we hear about shadows before? Oh right, the talking statue in the Circle of Magi of Ferelden:

"The prison is breached. I see the encroaching darkness. The... the shadow will consume all..."

Seems they're related somehow, what could it mean? Perhaps the Veil--or it's creators--is the shadow? I mean, Sandal says the skies will open wide when the shadows part and the only "open" skies we've seen were in The Silent Grove, a flashback of the past:

Posted Image

Perhaps I'm stretching things too far, though I'd like to imagine them connected.

The "he" in the prophecy obviously refers to Urthemiel, nothing much more to share about this.

Now there's additional references to a common event found between both DAO and DA2.

The Nexus Golum--in it's knowledge--talks about light:

"The Gauntlet is passed. Only a Shaperate can bring the light. Conversion begins..."

What conversion? The conversion of everyone into mages? We have heard within DA2 casual dialogue that mage numbers have greatly increased in the recent generation, coinciding with the return of Dragons which occured at the start of the Dragon Age, almost 30 years ago.

What "light"? Well, there's also this dialogue from the talking statue in Origins:

"Weep not for me, child. Stone they made me and stone I am, eternal and unfeeling. And thus shall I endure 'til the Maker returns to light their fires again."

Well, another reference to "light". Perhaps unconnected, though worth a mention. You could also mention that the Shaperate--which are dwarves--have a connection to the stone, something the statue is made of. That's probably the biggest stretch I'll make but meh.

With all of Morrigan's talking about "change", I assume the conversion of everyone into mages is what she's speaking of and that's why people will fight against it. Her role in DA3 will probably be about trying to achieve this, Urthemiel having a role in it if perserved.

Question: The Prophecy conversation between Sandal and Bohdan, where does that take place? I don't ever recall it in either Origins or DA2...

DA2. I think it happens in the mansion at some time.

Also, does anyone remember the creepy "old lady"-remark of Sandal? THAT was creepy...

1 - NO MORE SYNTHESIS pretty please!
2 - Elves were mages/immortal, but there was no mages among human until elves "taught" them.
3 - "Magic will come back. All of it." As i understand it means that Fade is a pool of magical energy and demons/spirits would be... ancient elves who went to sleep but could not return. Maybe Elgar'nan: elven God of Vengeance was imprisoned in the Golden city and so darkspawn came to be...

Need more speculations (which are based on elven lore -_-)

Pretty heavy stuff.  Just so as long as at the end of DA3 I only have to choose between the red, blue or green dragon.

1. Ban all magic, forever, thus killing all mages
2. Make everybody a mage
3. Control the fade as a leader spirit

Thing is, these options actually sound pretty cool to me.. as long as they don't feature a fade spirit that looks like a little boy who was killed at the beginning of the game by templars.. though even that sounds cool in a DA setting I have to admit..

maybe Bioware just mixed up the endings, and the ME3 one was actually meant for DA3?

Random hunch, but what if Dorian turns up in the new comic, Those Who Speak? It does seem to be set in Tevinter.

Mention of the Inquisition and their symbol made me think of this item in Witch Hunt:

"Of Hammers and Witches: A History - This ancient Orlesian text dates from the Chantry's early days. Time and dust has weathered most of the ink, but from what you can make out, it covers a war on the heretics of the old Imperium. Faded depictions of men in robes tremble before figures bearing an ominous symbol of a black eye in a sunburst."

It's a book you find in the library of the Ferelden Circle. Interesting to say the least.

That's interesting ,LookingGlass93.
I think BrushYourTeeth was wondering if there were any lore about the Inquisitor symbol.

Well apparently in that next comic Alistair will have to go up against Sten. Thing is, Sten would totally win that fight... So I'm hoping that they'll end up talking things down. I want both of them to die, especially Alistair.

Fixed

Alistair
believes in JUSTICE so he stabs people who offer to help him.

Seriously The Silent grove made me lose what
little respect I had for Alistar. Petulant child. ‘You took my dad, wah,
wah, everything bad is your fault

Sten is better, but i would rather him dead so they can't make him look really horrible in the next game.

I swear DA2 should've been a spin off...but I just see it as a bridge between "awesomeness" and "greatness" B)

Indeed.

I'd love to learn about things more interesting than an internal human struggle. Just a few examples: Black City and the fade, Kal-Sharok, The Dales, remnants of old Arlathan and the ongoing fight between the Tevinter and Qunari.

Oh by the way, if you're interested, I could describe three more of the character concept arts I saw.

1. An older guy, looking very knightly, with shield and armor, longer brown hair and beard
2. A woman in armor, with a sword, medium long hair, don't remember whether elf or human but she looked interesting, a little "dark"
3. A younger guy with blond hair, dressed in simple clothes

Does that actually only happen with the DR? I thought it was just probably something that was tossed in as an easter egg for everyone. Its just something that happens very rarely after you click on Sandal tons of times.

You're probably right and  the whole "Everyone turns into a mage/magic user!" seems likely. And it sort of fits with how it seems BioWare likes to copy from their own games in terms of plot- its a retread of synthesis, except possibly explored more if its some event that doesn't just happen as a cliffhanger at the end of a game.

I'm just really sick of the whole mage/templar stuff. It just seems like a more boring version of mutants/non mutants in X-Men. I really wish they could make a Dragon Age game that was just minimal magic/supernatural stuff with just political wrangling and down to earth conflict. But it seems to be going more and more high fantasy, if the leaked synopsis is any indication.

Oh well, back to Crusader Kings 2 for me it seems.
