One of the names listed as a character was Cole. As I recall, Cole was a strange ghostly character from the book Asunder.

Yes he was.  But seeing as what he became at the end of the book it would be interesting to see how Bioware could make him a commpanion.

I haven't read the book, but in the description it sounded like he had been killed once but was still alive for some reason, and it was mentioned that he's a rogue

Anyways Concept Art

That just reinforces my thinking that this is 110% legit and from BioWare/EA. Those characters look exactly in the same style as Matt Rhodes' concept art for DA2.

Yeah there is a whole thing with Cole that is very interesting but I can't get into it without spoiling the book Asunder so I would say go read it.  Ut is by far Gaiders best work so far IMO.

Just what I was going to post.

The plot thickens...

The concept art is interesting, and the story and character summaries are all believable.

But wasn't Bioware tweeting about VO work the other day.  If they're already recording lines, isn't it a little late to be asking people what they think about "possible" companions?  It seems they'd be past the possibility stage with characters if they're already recording.  I bring this up in case anyone knows more about how much fluidity there is with the writing of characters when VO has started.

Maybe it's for a character DLC....That would make sense to test water.

Could just be a publicity stunt. I guess we'd need to know exactly when the survey was posted, in order to get a better idea.

I've often heard that you do voice work before you do the animation. This survey seems to be mostly about the visual design of the characters, so that checks out.

OR MAYBE IT'S ALL FAKE

Keep in mind this seems like a marketing survey more than anything, aimed at a very mainstream audience. So its likely being used to figure out what non BioWare, non RPG fans might be looking for in the marketing of the game.

So  it'll determine how many times we hear David Silverman say "Awesome!" and "Visceral!" and "Epic!" over and over again because their market research (like this survey) told them that people liked those words. Or maybe how much marketing chooses to focus on a given companion in the marketing because a bunch of people thought the concept art or description was highly rated (or conversely, a companion who isn't rated highly ends up not factoring into the marketing).

As I recall, back in Fall of 08 when Origins was still slated for a Spring 09 release, they had a video where they introduced Morrigan and it was a different voice actress and different face model than the final game. So I imagine that even if they're recording voices, they could still change things up visually for the characters, but the writing of the characters is likely set in stone.

Its legit. The concept art seals it. Unless somebody managed to perfectly emulate Matt Rhodes' artistic style, the survey is totally legit.

That's not to say some of these details might not change, but the survey is so very clearly officially from BioWare/EA.

Fake, legit, or just a simple hallucination. Whatever it is, it doesn't matter to me, because all I know is that playing a character pigeonholed into having some set of beliefs that clash with how I want to play or does things that my character wouldn't have done makes for a craptastic game.

I imagine he means the part where the protagonist is an Inquisitor in the Inquisition.

Oh you mean because it's so different from that one time when the protagonist was a warden of the grey wardens?

I hope, hope, hope, this is not true. Inquestioner holds a very loaded meaning both in game and in real world and the though of going a whole game with people calling me that makes me feel very badly.
If thi turn out to be true, da3 will really be my last dragon age game :-(

Assuming this stuff is accurate, we've got DA3 (at least it's first act) being set in a civil war wracked Orlais and the protagonist being an as yet unnamed Inquisitor. We know the identities of 4 companions who may be in the game; an exiled magister, a Tal-Vashoth mercenary, an elven thief/street person, and Cole from the third Dragon Age book.

At least it sounds like they're moving back to more customability in the protagonist; being called "the Inquisitor" reminds me of "the Warden". Here's hoping we get to help the mages win against the templars.

LOL. Well said.  Image IPB

Look, just because you cooperate with a group of people called Inquisitors does not mean you're forced to be an Andrastian. Let's all quit being a bunch of pouty mcpoutyfaces. No one complained that being a Hawke/Amell forced you to like mages - because it could have, but it didn't. DG has no other agenda than to create games he loves and that others love to play. He's not going to force players to adhere to his fictional religion.

If the MC is an Inquesitor how are we going to play as a mage? I call bull**** on that or Bioware is calling bull**** on their own lore.

They just said you would be a character in the Inquisition. Doesn't mean you'll be Chantry lover. Maybe it's a new order. Maybe you get to be a rebel and over throw everything. Maybe you get to build a new order and shape it the way you want: pro Chantry or anti Chantry, We don't know anything at all at this point. Not even if this is real.

People are so fast to judge. Hahaha.

You know, before we all start ranting about how we don't want to be pro-Chantry, the description of the game doesn't state that the main character will be affiliated with the church. The "Inquisition" could just be that — a special investigation set up to determine who's trying to f*** up Thedas.

That is exactly what the synopsis said so I don't understand why everyone's crying pro-chantry

I did read the former thread. I am just saying one thing is being forced to have such a loaded title, but just imagine everyone calling me it. For an entire game. I am not even sure I could get through it.

I pray that if they do go this route our companions at the very least call the protagonist by last name.
