Not sure what to think of this supposed leak. When I first saw the concept art for the suspected companions or npcs my first reaction was reserved but curious. The concept art didn't initially get me excited about DA3 even though I am itching for something new from the Dragon Age Team. I would be excited about cullen's concept art but until it is officially announced by Bioware when or if he becomes a companion I won't become excited just yet. I am not really a fan of his leaked concept art to be honest. That fur thing looks a bit wierd to me but seems to early to be making judgement calls. :P

Though I did get excited about the concept art for the Rivani looking scribe girl . As soon as I saw her I instantly liked her! I liked everything about her from her stance to her poise and outfut! :P Maybe she is a bard? That is why she is carrying around the ink and paper? I like the idea of her being a bard or a scribe of some sort. Wish we had a clearer picture of the companions/ npcs. Wonder what is on her belt, it kinda looks like a star, maybe a seeker star of some sort but can't really tell. I could see her as a rogue of some sort.

Though I could see her as just an important npc like LolaLei said earlier that just so happened to get concept art but then why would she be in the survey if she is just an npc? I really hope it is the later and she is a companion. ^_^

Though this supposed leak is lacking a male elf companion! Too many humans was my first thought. My marry band of misfits will feel incomplete without a male elf! :P

bioware likes a diverse companion selection. and being that we will supposedly have 10, i'm sure we havent seen them all yet. cuz the concept art could be not all companions.

Exactly. We haven't seen concept art for a dwarf companion yet and I mean, come on, there's no way they won't add a dwarf companion. (I'm still voting for Varric here)

i vote for 2 actually. 1 male and 1 female. the male being varric. ^_^

Ooh, what was the name of the dwarf you could help get into the Circle of Magi in DA:O? Dagna?
She could be a companion. She got her own epilogue snippet, so I always thought we'd get to see more of her someday. And she has a connection with the Circle and therefore with the war in DA 3.
It actually makes a lot of sense when you think about it.

except she was annoying as f***

i vote SIGRUUUUUUNNNNNN (or someone new)

I would welcome her to the crew! Though my first vote is for Sigrun! ^_^ It isn't that far fetched a scenario though to see Dagna again. Though I am curious as to why if it is true they decided to go with a 10 character team. I myself liked smaller intimate teams rather than a large number of squad mates though if done right I could be persuaded otherwise. My only concern is it might mean less lines and content per character. Though I could be wrong about that.

I liked the 9 companions we had in DA:O, especially since we had the campsite to socialise in etc. Made it seem kinda cosy. But then DA:O spent years in production so all the characters were in depth and interesting. 10 companions will be fine so long as they put equal effort into all of them, it would suck if out of 10 companions the majority of them are dull or carbon copies of each other.

Or like ME2:
12 Companions, almost all of them were made of pure win, but they had little dialogue on the Normandy.

Yes I remember Dagna! I always liked her if she isn't a companion I hope she will at least be a NPC.
On another note I read all the thread! So much speculation and interesting theories.Image IPB

That is my fear. I liked ME2 characters but I always wished I could of had more personal dialogue with each of the characters. I would rather have less characters in that regard in favor of more content per character.

Though again the Mass Effect team isn't the dragon age team so maybe the dragon age team could pull off a healthy balance with a 10 person squad. Honestly as long as they keep up with the awesome banter and companion talking during missions then I have nothing to fear in the 10 companion squad.

We will have to wait and see I guess. :P

I hope so!!! I don't want the game to be rushed but I can't take this silence any longer I need something to at least ponder upon.
( sorry if I have done any grammatical mistakes)

So, I was tracing one of the character concepts in hopes that I wouldn't have to keep squinting whenever I looked at the picture and I noticed something.

Image IPB

As you can see from my subtle pointer, the character has what looks like a dagger or sword strapped to her hip. At least I assume that's a hilt, although I haven't been able to figure out how the positioning makes any sense.
At the same time, the character is clearly a mage, unless glowing hands suddenly became a common thing.
So what I'm getting from this is that either this is the concept for the PC, which would explain the mage hands and the additional weapon as a sort of reference to the classes and the fact that the character looks like a female version of the character depicted above.
Or this might mean that mages can equip something other than a staff in DA 3. That would make sense for battle mages, I think.

Or I'm just reading WAY too much into this.

It could be Cole? He used a dagger for his murders didn't he?

Could be an arcane warrior, could also be a possible design choice for an apostate hiding in plain sight.

Either way, it could be the same character.

Cole was a guy.

No offense to blackrising, but I think your sketch is incorrect. That concept art looks awfully mannish.

I'll note that although Cole is a "rogue", he does possess magical abilities. So he could be an arcane-flavoured rogue.

No offense taken, but I do believe that it's a female. Look at the hips/waist. There's a clear curve there that men simply do not have. And I do see a hint of breasts.
But really, the pictures are so tiny and grainy, it is pretty hard to tell.

The concept art looks like a female to me, particularly in comparison to the male one next to her in the leaked picture. Either way I like the hair.

Well, the pic we have is too small to make bust and such, but when compared to the male counterpart in that outfit it's downright feminine. The proportions are much more slight and stance much more effeminate.
