Wild accusations? All i know is that there is no moderate institution whether it be from games, movies or European history that would suggest anything other than that. The Inquisition in DA3 might very well be a reasonable institution but you will open yourself up to these kinds of speculations when naming it thus.
You aren't speculating, you're assuming. "Religious nutjob" is your term that relates to your inclination to believe that all religous institutions are extreme. Spoiler alert: There was nothing in the blurb that even suggested that you would be playing as a zealot.

(Although looking at the etymology, it has a lovely dual meaning: heretical religious texts *and* a literal meaning of 'those hidden away', or a force behind the scenes)

Well, I hope they don't name it DA3: The Inquisition. I just can't see, or hear, anything else than Mel Brookes.
The Breach....nooo....I just don't like that. DA3: The Breach...wat? No.
What else did they have? Apocrypha?Hmm... Idk. They need to work on it. Maybe use some Latin term.....?
I think that out of the options presented in the survey, The Breach is the worst title, by far.
Would not really mind either Inquisitor or Inquisition (although they do have problems)), and Apocrypha and Exarch seem way too specific.
Maybe if they took out the "The". Dragon Age: Inquisition. No number 3, and no "The". Maybe then I wouldn't hear and see Mel breaking into a showtune everytime I say it.
Although Inquisition doesn't really do it for me, either. Doesn't feel very compelling to me. But it's hard coming up with one, or two words that encapsulate the entire theme of your work. In a compelling fashion.

Yes, I have nothing against Apocrypha, personally, I just feel it's not really a marketable title.

Right, it's even harder for us, seeing as we know so little about it.)

Apocrypha would be a nightmare for journalists, surely - and for the marketing team to explain it.

I do like Apocrypha, or the idea of it anyway. It needs a little something. Like a "The"?
But judging from these possible titles gives us an idea of the theme BW is shooting for. Possibly, lol. Apocrypha; Inquisitions...sounds like some juicy stuff to be discovered.

The Breach...sounds like Beach.
Inquisitor reminds me of Terminator.
Inquisition...don't like it neither.
Exarch :kind of alright , shorter than apocrypha , would work better for marketing.
But for the most part , none of the title impress me or would made me curious about the game if i didn't already know about it.

I mean, do I need to mention Fabula Nova Crystallis? or Dissidia Duodecim? Everyone's gonna call it Dragon Age 3 despite whatever little subtitle they decide to attach to it.

The Inquisitor sounds like a news rag rather than something I want to be called for 20-30 hours. I want race and background choices back but right now I'm also leaning towards a set surname that everyone uses when referring to the PC.
I don't see how Inquisitor is in any way worse than the Champion or the Warden or The Hero of Ferelden. And if our protagonist is indeed going to be a member (or possibly a head?) of the Inquisition, I can't see people calling him by his/her surname being more appropriate than the official title. Say what you want about the Inquisition, but they are the ones to be feared and respected.

I mean title is fine with pnj for quest etc...
But with companions or Li , specially Li ....it sound bad.
I can't imagine a romance scene with somebody calling me inquisitor.

Sure, "Inquisitor" does not seem like the best choice for intimate conversations.
There might be an alternative option for that.

Also one more thing I wanted to say and O hope its not too late lol, I dont know why the people think about being Pro-Chantry when they hear the name Iniquistor or Inquisition.
Maybe because we had a catholic insitution called like that in Real Life but the name doesnt mean pro-chantry, religious or zealot.
Inquisition means The act of inquiring into a matter or an investigation, The catholic Inquision we all know its really called Inquisitio Haereticae Pravitatis which means inquiry on heretical perversity, it started as a tribunal but after a few years pope Pope Innocent IV authorized the use of Torture as a procedure because they werent having good luck in finding `herectis` but it didnt started like that.
I think the name works good because looking at this info: (The world of Dragon Age is one on the brink of collapse, and when a desperate gathering in the name of peace becomes the epicentre of a magical blast that decimates the Chantry's leadership, it becomes clear that someone or something is manipulating events to drive the world into chaos) the Inquisition starts becasue they need to find who is manipulating the war, they need to search for clues and people that its manipulating the events (Inquiry), maybe we start as a peaceful investigation group and maybe after having no luck in finding clues, we can start using torture as a tool if we want to, and after finding some of the guilty characters we can show them mercy or execute them for manipulating the war, and maybe we will be able to execute Templars, Mages, Seeker, Grey Wardens, Politicians and Priest, as the inquisition we just want this war to be over, and we dont care who we sentence to death, we will kill anyone who stands in our way to achieve peace, doesnt matter who they are.
Sorry for my bad English, its not my first language lol

Sorry, but that's really dumb. Earthborn_Shepard wasn't supposed to leak this information. When you participate in these sorts of surveys you agree not to disclose any of the information.
Your argument is basically like saying "It's not your fault you shoplift, it's the store's fault for having shelves full of items you want."
Bioware is gathering market research to better promote their game. They did not get "sloppy."

Either way, I'm liking it so far. What I've heard from this bit of leak. More complex. More serious. Some mystery. Puzzle-y. It has the potential to really keep me on my toes. Not just during battles, either.
Spying and secret allies and all that....keep me on my toes.
And you know, Seekers and Inquisitors look very similar. That PAX Seeker armor, it's got that "Inquisitor" symbol on it, right? The sword through the sunburst eyeball?
Did they just call it an Inquisitor for the sake of the survey? Are we really just playing a Seeker, after all?
The Seeker's aren't what they use to be, either. Splitting up the way they have. Maybe it's a new Seeker faction. With new and improved rules and regulations?
