That's cool and all, but some important elements cannot be shown in gameplay footage. For instance, there's been a lot of talk about how level scaling negatively affects a role playing game, but this topic has rarely, if ever, been addressed by Bioware in their "showcases". You obviously can't showcase several significant "behind the curtain" aspects of the game in a gameplay video.
Therefore, we have to hear it from you and it's as simple as saying "yes" or "no" to level scaling, because the viewer will have no clue about the answer by simply looking at gameplay clips.

Oh no probs Mr. Darrah we will be patient. I for one can wait for a good game.

He said they wanted the gameplay to back up their words. So I doubt they'll give us nothing but clips. In any case, all we can do now is wait and see.

Makes me wonder what kind of words they'll be using?

Level scaling is an issue now?

Not that i'm belittleing it, but table-tops have always done level scaling to a degree anyway. Why is this now considered negative?

If you are going to keep the name of Inquisitor/Inquisition you should remember the rest about who they are and what they do.
Otherwise people will start to think on religious zealots.

I'm amused. So let's imagine he says something along the lines of this: "There won't/will be level scaling. Let me back it up with this gameplay video clip... " *PC and party shown fighting with monsters* .... Viewer: "Yeees...?"

@LinksOcarina

Table-top (groups) have not "always been using level scaling". Some perhaps have, but many others have certainly never used it.

As to why it is considered negative, you can read some reasons here:
http://wasteland.inx...7a9f631c4d735bf

Now, if you've also read the Wasteland 2 (an open world game) design document you could guess if they'll be using level scaling.

Well, even if Bioware is unhappy about the information being leaked, it must be at least somewhat reassuring for them to see the enthusiasm the leak caused. It means there is still plenty of interest in the franchise. I know at least I find it reassuring. :)

Uh...the way encounters and equipment is set up in most table-top games is artificial level scaling to remain balanced. It is up to the DM to throw in a level 10 Beholder against level 2 party members,  but that is the DM's choice. Most adventure modules have it scaled correctly to a specific leveled campaign, and often have equipment that matches that scaled level.

Or i should clarify, most modern RPG tabletops do that. Older games from the 1980's and some early 90's don't do that, but those game punish the player more than being a game, so there you go.

And honestly, I can care less if something is level scaled or not becuase it rarely deters the experience. Being able to wipe the floor with enemies as you play a game that, more or less, linear like Dragon Age, is not exactly good game design. Light RPGs in the past did it when they had open world maps, but they also region-scaled things to cut you off, and since there is no open-world map for a game like Dragon Age (as far as we know) then it would be unlikely to see scaling in that regard as well.

The only time it was broken for me was in Oblivion, where it was just ridiculous to see bandits in Elven armor fighting you all the time, and scaling creatures like scamps and dremora and the like to your level was pointless.

I don't know if someone posted this news already, but on a Italian site there was a news about a big announcement from EA this week. It could be about DA3, though I doubt it.
Anyway, about the "leaked" info, I'm fine with the PC as a member of the Inquisition, if it's not a pro-Chantry (which from the leaked info seems to be already collapsed) and anti-mage organization.
An organization composed by both mages and templars, with equal power and the goal of fighting blood mages and abominations, is something I suggested during DA2 development in a thread about mages and templars during DA2 development, and it's something I really want, and could make me more interested in the next game.
The info about the story isn't that interesting, but to be fair DAO's story didn't shine for originality either, and I loved DAO.

The fact is that the Inquisition was an organization in the past, that hunted blood mages, abominations, cultists and heretics . After they firmed a pact with the Chantry it was split between the Templar Order and the Seekers of Truth. The organization wasn't exactly mage-friendly (though we don't know much in the methods they used in their hunting).
Since the organization should be a new one, and (hopefully) with mages and non-mages on equal terms, I don't care about the name of the organization.

This is pretty much confirmation that the information we have in correct. Bioware has had no problems debunking rumors in the past and often call leaks false despite being legitmate. So the fact that they won't even comment on the credibility of this leak to me proves its authenticity.

Yep, as I said before, this time the order will have to solve other conflicts besides blood-mages, so you can be sure that there will be mages around.

The bit about "allowing them to surprise and delight us" does seem like saying "stop spreading this so there will still be people left who haven't seen what we're going to show them".
But until that day we see anything official, I'm hesitant to proclaim it true.

But cant you answer questions some simple questions about your plans for the game like if you plan on having a isomertic view or not, we dont need a screen shot of it just a yes or no about isometric view.

No, a good DM will plan and design combat encounters beforehand.

The second sentece has nothing to do with level scaling. Level scaling is done on the fly, it's a case of aritificially and dynamically altering the monster's level to match that of the player's. When a campaign is planned with a specific player level in mind; that's not per se level scaling.

Or i should clarify, most modern RPG tabletops do that. Older games from the 1980's and some early 90's don't do that, but those game punish the player more than being a game, so there you go.

Table-top rpgs are led by a human DM, so it has nothing to do with how modern the RPG tabletop is.

Being able to wipe the floor with [some]* enemies as you play a game that

And vice versa, is part of a believable world.

Exactly, they just seem to share the same name, as the sypnosis says a new order will rise from the ashes. Why people think bioware would make a mage pro templar is beyond me, it's just not their m.o to force a choice like that down our throats

Not new if it already happened in the past, also, I said it because Dragon Age's inquisition =/= real life's inquisition.
