I liked the short hair. It emphasized her hardass attitude. Although I PRAY they either get a different voice actress or better yet, make sure her accent won't cause excessive ear-bleeding.

I don't think either were particularly bad. If you listen to her softer tone in this, her voice is actually quite pleasant.

I can deal with this if she sounded like that in DA 3, but something about the accent really bugs me. Maybe because I just can't place it?

If they had kept that dialogue Cassandra would have come across as bipolar. Really it's lousy voice acting if you can only go from one extreme to the other like that. From "BULLSH!T!" to that "Oh me oh my, I'm just a widdle girl" voice is just too much.

Voice actors can only work with the script they're given. If you feel like that it's because the script was written that way.

Scripts are just written words. The delivery of those words comes down to the actor. Scripts don't dictate tone and inflection. I would blame Cassandra's voice actor and whoever was directing her, but not the writers.

The writers get the blame for the lackluster story...

I can't imagine voice acting is particularly easy, it's to be expected that some lines of dialogue don't always quite work with the scene.

She hardly had any lines. Varric didn't have any hiccups like that and he was a prominent companion and the narrator. Sometimes people just aren't very good actors.

I didn't think she was a bad voice actor. Maybe she just isn't very experienced in VO work? Apparently it can take a while to master it completely. Either way, she done a better job of it than I could no doubt lol.

And sometimes it's maybe a director who wanted to have certain lines delivered just the way they are. At least in my opinion Miranda Raison is one of the better "french/orlesian" voice actors in the DA games. Not quite on a native speakers (eg. Corinne Kempa's) level, but good enough to keep her.

I agree, but Cassandra's actually Nevarran, not Orlesian.

You're assuming that if they had 4 companions up for feedback to determine who would be a DLC character that 3 would be scrapped. Isn't it more likely that they would keep all of them and make the most popular one the DLC character to sell more DLC?

That depends on how many other companions they've planned, I suppose. Hard to tell at this point. Though yes, that was an assumption on my point based on unconfirmed grounds, thanks for pointing that out for me =)

With DA2 and ME3 the DLC companions were pretty integral to the story(Javik gave failure a face, Sebastian added real consequence to letting Anders go free) and DAO, DA2, ME2 and ME3 all had DLC companions were very fleshed out and popular. They don't want the best of the rest getting released as DLC, they want to strike that balance between noticeably meaningful and cool/unique.

Well, if you can convince thousands of "Cullen loves Amell" fangirls that it's just a minor crush and it's as easily dismissed as the epilogue slide, I'd be very surprised. :)

I do feel unhappy about the choice, though.

i think those same fangirls would eb fine with "OMG I JUST ROMANCED CULLEN FOR REALZIES THIS TIME!!!"

I wasn't sure what that symbol might be, so I thought it might simply be a Circle symbol or something. But looking closer, it looks like an eye to me, the symbol of the Seekers.

http://images.wikia...._symbol_eye.png

Now whether that endorses my theory that this is the planned PC or not, I have no idea. This might just be a concept for a certain type of enemy/guard/unimportant NPC #21.

Still, we might as well discuss my desillusions while we wait for any news.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one shocked to find this out

And on a side note, I don't mind Cassandra's voice in DA2.  Plus I find it very weird when they change the chqracter's voice from one game to another.

I wouldn't mind an occasional inn, either though.

There were times in DA:O when I took some of my crew to the Gnawed...Noble? Was it?...

Anyway, I.... pretended...that I was treating them to a night in a warm bed. With good food and lots of drink. After a particularly grungy quest. Deep Roads comes to mind.

The thing is, I just don't know what kind of traveling we're going to be doing in DA3.

I like this idea, being able to sleep, eat & drink in Inns in Villages & Towns adds realistic roleplaying elements to the game which probably won't put off the non-rpg crowd.  It worked in Skyrim so ...

I've said it before, but I'll chime in again since it's come up and say that I love the idea of an inn or tavern as the group gathering place. I also think it makes sense to have several based on where you are: it would be a great way of showing off local flavor. For instance, an Orlesian inn would definitely have a different feel than a Ferelden (or is it Fereldan?) inn.

Ugh,  that phrase. It just oozes DA2 type marketing speech and we all saw how that turned out. I really hope what you show us is great. Please stop saying this.

Why not? The only instance Multiplayer felt Irritating was when players were forced to play it to get the best ending in Me3 but that's gone now and provided dragon age doesn't follow the same pattern, it is optional to play.If there is a multiplayer, I for one look forward to viewing other player's skill as I did with me3 mp.

I would totally dig having a mediumish/largish cat instead of a mabari this time around. I could totally see the Orlisians or Tervinters being "cat people"

Don't you think it would be pretty goofy having an ocelot or something fight with you like Dog? I can't even get my housecat to do what I tell it...
