Since apparently our choices will matter(we'll see about that...) in DA3, do you think that we're going to have a ME-like option to select our choice before we start, if we don't have a saved game? Because I don't really have it in me to go through DA:O again(35-50 hours in and haven't even done any of the main quests) and I'm sure as hell not playing through DA2 again(I only played through it fully once). Do you think that we'd get choices like "Who did the Grey Warder side with? [Dalish] or [Werewolves]"? Because I'm bored, list of choices I hope we'd be able to decide:

- Who did the Warden side with? [Templars] [Circle of Magi]
- Who did the Warden side with? [Dalish] [Werewolves]
- Who did the Warden put on the throne in Orzammar? [Harrowmont] [Bhelen]
- What did the Warden do about the Anvil of the Void? [Destroyed it] {Preserved it]
- What did the Warden due with the Urn of Sacred Ashes? [Corrupted it] [Left it alone]
- "Was the Dark Ritual performed? [Yes] [No]" --> "With who? [Alistair] [The Warden] [Loghain]"
- Who delivered the final blow to the Arch Demon? [The Warden] [Alistair] [Loghain]
- Who became the ruler of Ferelden? [Alistair] [Alistair and Anora] [Anora] [Anora w/ the Warden]
- Who did Hawke side with? [Templars] [Mages]

Dragon age origins has been out 2 1/2 years, going on 3

Dragon age 2 has been out a 1 1/2 years officially the week after next

Dragon age 3 won't be here for 1 or 2 years

I'm not understanding how your laziness is bioware's problem or why you think it should be accomodated. You have more than enough time to get your saves together.Choices like the one I highlighted in bold are rewards for people who actually took the time to buy and finish the game, not lazy people like you.You want to reap the perks? Do the work, suggestions like this put a tarnish on the gamer name.

FYI - Me3 default only gave you the choice of who picking who survived virmire, the rest of the game was a default setting based on choices the ME team picked.

The options that I've crossed out are irrelevent in my opinion. I can't see how they'd have any meaningful consequences in Thedas outside of what we saw in Origins, and that being said I don't think they should just be stapled on in the manner of Sophia Dryden's cameo in DA II (I can see mention being given about who delivered the final blow to the Archdemon, but I don't think it'd have a meaningful consequence.

The only other thing I could see as having an impact is whether Anders lives.

Judging by the comics, I believed that making Alistair the king was canon, isn't it?

Well I think ...I may be wrong people play games for fun.
So saying don't complain , do your homework....isn't people idea of entertainment....

Besides having ways to set flag and import would be cool ...I mean sometimes saves get corrupted or you simply lose them.

The comics aren't canon according to Bioware.  It's more like they're possible.  So DA3 will use your DAO and DA2 choices and not assume everything in outside material like comics and novels are relevant to your game.  (Though even if Alistair is dead in your game the comics still provide some useful additions to lore like info on dragons, witches of the wild, silent grove, etc.)

If I wanted to make that argument, I'd of said the game should be Import only, when gaming becomes akin to homework, it's time to move on and do something else. The term gamer refers to someone who plays video games for a hobby, what the above suggested was bypassing that aspect completely. If he can't be bothered to actually play the game anymore, why should he be catered to?

The Financial aspect of his suggestion makes buying previous titles an obsolete requirement which in turn leads to a drop in company revenue they desperately need to keep churning out titles, but what does that matter in the face of che- Fun ?

Going to have to side with Emza on this one. Why should it be BioWare's job to make up for people who are too lazy/disinterested to play the first two games? Origins, despite at this point feeling a *tad* dated, remains a masterpiece. Dragon Age 2, while suffering from development constraint oriented shortcomings, is a solid game that's worth at least another playthrough for the import saves alone. The DA3 Dev Team shouldn't get saddled with putting in a laundry list of default selections to make up for a lack of work on the part of the gamer/consumer. If you aren't willing to put in the time, then you should just be willing to accept what the team gives you as a "Default" starting point, much as they did with Dragon Age 2.

It just scared me reading people saying stuff like "lack of work....".
We're talking about games and entertainment !
Anyway it's not like you can't already find saves files from nice players all over the net....
It would just be more practical for players , and probably developper that lose tons of times dealing with import flags.

Ok im responding to a post on the previous pg. About being hungry for more info. I agree. If you see all the interveiws with Graider at com-con and paxx and some others and piece the info together I find it promising. I predict a major announcement at the VGA awards. Its a ways off yet many big games have been formally announced there. Skyrim for 1 then I waited almost a year for it to come out.

"Work" is figurative. Might have been more apt to go with "time." As for the saves, keep in mind the majority of Origins/DA2 gamers are on the console, not PC, so there's no "easy way out" for a rather large number of folks. Also Laidlaw has gone on record saying the Dev Team has worked *hard* to make sure that all choices, i.e. import flags, are accounted for, fixed, and considered. So imagine what a slap in the face it would be to those team members (who put in the long hours to make sure your choices are accounted for) to be told, "Well, I don't feel like playing the games again. So I want you to take all those various choices and slap them on the main menu for me to choose from." I mean, seriously?

Like I stated they are working on it obviously, just nothing formal announced. They shouldn't be rushed. If they are we could expect a poor quality game. DAO was in the works for 6 yrs. I believe Graider and team poured their hearts and souls into DAO. As they said in interview speaking of DA2 they know what didn't work but hind sight is 20/20. If they are not rushed by fans and (EA demons)I know they will blow us away with DA3 untitled. They've done it before. My opinion.

edit: I think something like the DA2 background choices in the beginning are good enough. If you want to make specific choices..play the game lol

It looks far too small and bland to be Minrathous. I know that Tevinter's in decline and Minrathous is a crumbling city, but I'd expect to see some of the old world glory and excess the Imperium's famed for.

Didn't Fenris say something to that effect in DA2?Been too long since I've played DA2 to remember the exact wording, but the gist of it was,I think, that Magisters hoard the riches inside their palaces, while the city around them crumbles. So I imagine anything resembling glory or excess would be found inside the palace, which would, sort of,explain the "blandness" (although for a city that's been at war with the Qunari since they basically landed,it doesn't look that bad imo.).

I wouldn't exactly trust Fenris opinion on anything to do with Tevinter and expect it to be acurate.

Heh,yeah I suspect the exact wording may be all Fenris, but biased as he may be,I doubt he'd downright lie to Hawke about it.And more importantly, what he does say about Tevinter does fit fairly well with codex/wiki entries,so I'm inclined to believe the gist of it.

"The centuries-long war with the Qunari has taxed the Imperium
significantly as resources are strained, with hundreds of refugees
fleeing to the capital of Minrathous, the splendor of which is chafing
greatly everywhere outside the spires that house the Imperium's Circles
of Magi

Genitivi's description is entertaining as always - though still likely biased

The Imperium is little more than a dilapidated old slattern, crouching in the far north of Thedas, drunkenly cursing at passersby to recall her faded beauty.

One can see that Minrathous was once the center of the world. The vestiges of her power and artistry yet stand. But they are buried in the layers of filth that the Imperium's decadence has accumulated over the ages. The magocracy live in elegant stone towers, literally elevated above the stench of the slaves and peasants below. The outskirts of Minrathous are awash in a sea of refugees turned destitute by the never-ending war between the Imperium and the Qunari.

And yet the Imperium survives. Whether with sword or magic, Tevinter remains a force to be reckoned with. Minrathous has been besieged by men, by Qunari, by Andraste herself, and never fallen.

I wouldn't really consider the Dalish quest choice irrelevant. In one situation, Elves are treated better in Fereldan, so we might, and another Werewolves rejoin society and are considered an ally of the Grey Wardens, heck, we might even see some in the Fereldan military.
