How come I play DA:O and DA 2 about 7 times each and I still miss important things like that? I should really try doing things differently once in a while. My PCs always end up doing the same thing every playthrough, it seems. Posted Image

I never had the chance to see or talk to Leliana either.  Maybe you only get to talk to her if you killed her in Origins?

This is the non-spoiler section, but I think talking to her is linked to some of the DLC. Not sure, though; I know I've played through that particular quest on every character, and none of my imports had a dead Leliana.

I don't think you could do a very satisfying conversation about a player created character. You'd have to keep it so broadly generic that it would be pointless.

She's tied to a dlc? How much will that cost me and is it worth it?  I wonder if that is the reason I never get to see Nathaniel either.Posted Image

No, that's not DLC related.

I think there's some issue whereby he doesn't register as alive unless he was in your party at the end of Awakening.  Unless they fixed that.

*sigh*
It's official. I need SOMETHING new, just...something. I am now writing DA 3 fanfic to get all my Inquisitor/Cassandra feelings out and that is simply ridiculous because we actually still know nothing about DA 3 (officially, that is).
If this keeps up, I'll have the whole game made up in my mind before anything gets announced.

Yeah, apparently I'm remembering correctly. She's tied to the Exiled Prince DLC. I, personally, thought it was worth it, but I'm not really the person to ask. If you're expecting a long, intricate waltz down memory lane with Leliana, then you're probably going to be disappointed. But I liked it.

Yeah, you meet Leliana if you have Exiled Prince and also little cameo in MotA.

Oh right, how could I forget that cameo in MotA? Although she unfortunately doesn't say anything interesting and there's no mention of the Warden.

She's essentially the right hand of the Divine, it seems - I wouldn't be surprised at all if she's the main quest-giver who talks with the player character immediately after the Big Explosion Thing. She's definitely one of the most important characters related to the internal politics of the Chantry, doubly so if the safety of the Divine herself is under threat.

(Though I doubt she'd be a companion, who knows...)

Leliana is the Left Hand of the Divine, Cassandra is the Right.

What's the difference again? I can't remember if that was ever mentioned...

I guess the left hand is more covert and, uh, sinister

It was part of the Seb DLC, which may or may not matter...

and if I remember correctly, I think Lel is actually called both right and left in different sources... Then, I think Lambert calls the whole Order of Seekers the right hand.  Lotsa body parts.

The Chantry is a Kraken!

There is the "right-hand" to define somebody that is really useful to you and that you can depend on, but the "Right Hand" position is similar to the "Hand of the King" in Game of Throne. It is a publicly appointed position. Cassandra was appointed Right Hand in Dawn of the Seeker, the previous Right Hand died in the movie, it was the Grand Cleric that was trying to get the Divine killed (I don't remember if it was mentioned outright in the movie, but she was speaking for the Divine and acted like she was the "heir").

The right hand is (in a religious sense) some sort of official capacity, whereas the left could be more covert, like someone said above.

Wasn't Leliana called some sort of hand in her first DA2 appearance as Nightingale?

(Regardless, the internal politics of the Chantry - particularly its upper levels - is really interesting and fertile ground for storytelling in the next game)

@ Blackrising. This can happen at the Urn of Scared Ashes quest. If you destroy the ashes you have to kill her. Wynne also leaves the party if this happens. I've never done it yet, so all of my companions are still alive.

Half of the time Wynne doesn't do anything. It's a bug, but it works out if you like Wynne.

I'm glad then, I was one of the few who actually liked Wynne.  I made her a spirit healer and a blood mage once.
I also took the dog to kill the Archdemon once, just to do it.  I'd have liked to sic him on Loghain too, but the Maker said I couldn't do that!  :police:

I'm invisioning that rghit now!

dog woudl so OWN him!

Doesn't Petrice call Elthina a "Hand of the Divine"?

Some day, somebody with mad artistic skillz should draw the Divine. She would look like Kali.

I always thought the right hand was someone working in an official capacity- the "left hand" was someone working for her unofficially.

My question is- is there a timeline that has all of the chain of events, except the comic since I'm going to pretend like that doesn't exist for me? That's easy to understand? I'd like to visualize how the events from the books & dlc and film all fit in.

The timeline is *very* confusing, the wiki has a summary but I'm still not entirely sure what happens and when.

Yeah I'm always really lost when I try to read some timelines. I wish there was something literally drawn out. lol. Maybe I'll have to do that one day when I'm bored. Thanks for the link.

DA3 happens in 9:40, if we take the decade mentioned in the marketing blurb as literally ten years. That manages to make the timeline a bit simpler, since the game will take place after *all* the prior comics, novels, games and movies and we can treat them all as prequels instead of having to deal with things happening simultaneously.

That also fits with Cassandra being influential (after Dawn of the Seeker in 9:37), Orlais being in a state of civil war (as per Asunder in 9:38-9) and Cole already being a significant character with... humanity issues. Cassandra's interrogation of Varric with her splinter loyalist Seeker group (plus Leliana) happens in 9:40.

If DA3 really takes place the literal 10 years later though, Cassandra will be in her mid-thirties or perhaps even fourty... she didn't look that "old" in the concept art.. except, of course, the snips with her in DA2 do really take place in the DA3 time.

And the books & movie have been said are -not- canon, correct? But since it's bioware we might as well consider them as such and expect that some of those characters will indeed be a part of the new game, regardless of if leakygate is true or not, right?
