DA3 Information & Speculation

And they'd started doing voice recording, not to mention writing and preproduction, months and months ago. Why do focus testing and market research for companions they'd never intended to use? The point of those sort of marketing surveys is to test which existing characters should be emphasised, not which ones should be cut entirely, or replaced - by this point the plans are, I'd think, largely set in concrete.

I hope this is true, because I liked almost everything I have seen so far. So much potential:wub:

The danger in my opinion is if they do release information and it's what we've already seen in the leak, we're all going to be ..."meh, we saw this six months ago."
That's why I personally think the sooner the better? I can't believe on any level that they don't already have -some- type of video or game play already.
That's why I believe we will only see about 20-30% from this leak in the actual game.
Maybe 40% at the most. Concepts should not be considered 100% factual and I think people are going to be in for a disappointment.
If this had been 100% true, they would have deleted this thread already. They haven't because they're getting a good laugh at our speculations and how inaccurate they are.
The surveys we've seen are for marketing purposes, not design purposes. You already brought up this theory of yours and it was pointed out then that it's not realistic.
They haven't deleted this thread because that would be admitting that the leak is authentic. People saved the images, took screencaps, etc. The genie was already out of the bottle. They would have to constantly monitor the forums like hawks to keep up with all the new topics that would pop up about it.

And even then, most people who read about the leak on gaming sites will have forgotten about it 15 minutes later. "Oh yeah, that leak about DA3... What did it say again?!"
Only us, the obsessed ones who lurk these forums daily, will deconstruct the information gathered through the leak to oblivion, so was there any damage done by it? I don't think so. And Bioware, of course, knew that it could leak so I don't think they would have done a survey with information that they didn't want to see spread.

It should read
"They were chosen by destiny,
forged to change the world forever.
But their time is over.
A new era is beginning.
A new chapter in the story.
It is time for a new hero."
EDIT- Now we're talkin'. Looks good.

Judging by your name, you're the guy that made the DA 3 logo, right?

Hardcore fans = free advertisement
I'm still waiting for video on Youtube featuring pictures of possible companions with some heroic background music.(sarcasm)

Although on second thought, I hope rival sites like Joystiq and Kotaku run with it...makes us look better at BT.

even worse V neck XD
You just had to bring that up again, didn't you? At least now it's not just one colour, so the v-neck is harder to spot.
...Scratch that, now it looks like a FRENCH v-neck. (You will never get the picture of the broodmother with a French v-neck, a fab mustache and a baguette under her arm out of your head. You're welcome.)
(And yes, I know that the French flag is actually blue-white-red and not red-white-blue, but it looks similiar enough.)

ROFLMAFO and crying so hard from laughter.
but yes, i am aware of the flag, and also that they don't dress like that.... but still, for some reason i can picture that so perfectly.

I like the whole concept of playing as the Inquisitor, and the huge amount of freedom that you have to do things your own personal way, instead of being forced to do certain things, and basicly playing a pre-defined character that stuff happens to whether you like it or not (and you generally dont) like in DA2. Thats definitely one of the biggest ways DAO was superior to DA2, and it sounds like DA3 may not only be superior to DA2, but even to DAO, and that's definitely awesome. It makes sense that if there's this big explosion, and chaos and the veil is torn and its all about fixing what is going wrong, and stopping the people behind it, then there would naturally be no reason why you couldn't be pro-mage, pro-templar, pro-chantry, or just pro-survival at any cost, whatever you like. There's really everything to like and nothing not to like about what we've learned so far. Cassandra and Sera are very much to my liking, no doubt Cullen and Iron Bull will be to others liking, there's really not just something for everybody, theres a LOT of something for everybody, and of course there are still other characters to learn about. I don't like Cole though, he was terrible at worst, annoying at best, during Asunder, and I don't want him on my team, but I can certainly see how he could play a role in the game, he could be the one who killed Lambert, he could BE Lambert now, having taken over his body, who knows. We have a lot more answers about DA3 than we did last month, but we still have a lot of questions, and that's a great thing, because it means that what we've learned so far makes us want to find out more. I can't wait for the next update!

Im really liking what I'm hearing about DA3 so far. I especially like Sera, she sounds like she has so much potential, I sort of imagine her as having something in common with Neeshka from NWN2, and she was one of my all time favorite characters, so the more she has in common with her, the more I'll like her. I do also agree with the idea that the Elves need to be more attractive, honestly though there weren't many humans who were that attractive in DA2 either, so I'd say an all-around upgrade is in order. But I do like the idea of turning things around, and making the Elves the most beautiful. In DAO the most attractive characters were Morrigan and Leliana, in DA2 it was Bethany and Isabella, and they're all human. Elves really should be even more beautiful than humans, in theory anyway, so if one of the elves could at least make the top two for DA3 that would certainly be a nice change.

Do keep in mind that what you find attractive may not be attrctive to other people. By which I mean: As far as I'm concerned, Morrigan (agree with you there) and Anora were the most attractive people in DA:O. However, Shianni also ranks pretty high for me, but she didn't really play as big a role as the other two so it's hard to compare. Now as far as DA 2 goes, Merrill takes first place for me. Isabela and Bethany? Probably somewhere around 4 or 5.
In other words, you can't really say anything about the physical appeal of any of the characters on a general basis, especially when it comes to elves. One part of the fandom hates/dislikes their design, the other part loves/likes it.
And now I'll shut up about elves because we've probably discussed that one to death already...
