Its the game, just like Forza 4 which I gave up due to the constant freezing, just got on my nerves. Thankfully I don't get this issue that often buts its 100% the game, not your console or internet.
If it is 100% the game then why am I able to play with no disconnects or very little glitches (never when I host)? I has nothing to do with the game, it has everyhitng do with your connection to the EA servers, which has everything to do with your internet and how you connect to it. Connection problems = lag, lag = drops, vangurad glitches, freezing, invincible eneimies, banshee magnet grabs et cetra, et cetra.
If 10 ps3 (or 360 or PC) users all have different expiriences you have to factor in:
A. Disc - same for each platform - constant
B. EA servers - P.I.T.A. but we all use them so - constant
C. Console - short of hardware problems - constant
D. Connection
The unconstant is YOUR connection. The problem is the numerous different ways people can connect to the internet and the equally numerous factors that go into how people set it up in their house, coupled with the finicky EA servers. That is why you have ps3 players like me with little to no issues and other ps3 users with a host of issues. PC users probably have many more factors to consider, since they have much more control over their enviroment.
My son plays this MP on his ps3 as well. He was having regular drops like a lot of people, while I, playing on the same internet 60' away, had none. Once he switched his ethernet cable from his computer to his ps3 while he played, the drops stopped.
tl;dr:
Try different connection set ups to see if it helps, there isn't much BW can do about your connection.

The thing is, why is this problem with Mass Effect 3 and Mass Effect 3 alone?
I can play any other game in my reasonably sized game library with little to none connection problems on two different Xboxes and a PC but it is just Mass Effect 3 that has these issues. (I don't own a PC copy at the moment, might change in the future).
Even some of my other games on EA servers, such as Battlefield 3, have none of these issues. Sure, I get the occaisional disconnect whilst playing these games, but I honestly cannot go a single playsession without loosing connection to the Mass Effect 3 servers. I don't even loose connection to the internet (XBL) when this happens, so I'm seeing it as a fault with the ME3 servers.
Also, not everyone on my friends list is having issues like I am. It is entirely possible it is my connection but I highly doubt it simple because it is one game

same thing happening to me really but today so far its been stable no disconnects.. when i get dropped it takes me to teh game menu and imedietly logs me back into the ea server im still connected to xlive and in party chat.
note my pc and home server are both on 24/7 no disconnect from my internet at all..
I Know for a fact its not my internet connection via Up time on my pc/server if i get a connection issue my home server will imeidtly try to compensate if that fails it resets the modem then i lose Uptime as it starts all over again...
current Server/pc uptime is 2 weeks 6days 9 hours 54 mins according to my home server what sees my Xbox as a media extender my xbox last nights uptime was 4 hours 10 mins yet out of that i managed 1 full game on me3 whilst still connected to Xlive i couldnt connect to ea servers...
Its EA/Biowares problem those defending them are wrong EA/Bioware today took the servers offline for maintenance since then Ive Personally had 0 ISSUES.
Note: i Use Wired connections

So has anyone figured out a way around this? I'd really like to actually complete a multiplayer game. ._.
It's stupidly tempermental
Just now I was able to complete 3 Platinum games (My first 3 as well) with me Disconnecting in a fourth and my friend disconnecting in one of the ones we finished. I have no idea when it's going to work or not

It has everything to do with the EA servers, and from what I save seen posted before, is a well known issue. The better you can connect to the servers (wired > wireless or cable > DSL, is dial-up still around?), the better your experience will be. Apparently the EA servers are very sensitive to drops in data transfer, which even the best wireless connections will have. I have a very good broadband connection wired to my ps3 through my router and my son was the same broadband connection using the same router wirelessly. Like I said earlier, he had drops and I didn't and once he switched to the wired connection his stopped also. I don't have any problems with my wirless connection otherwise and believe me, there are plenty of devices in my house using it, 14 I think, granted not all at the same time.
If you have a good broadband and a wired connection and you still get drops (even after trying to bypass the router), then I don't know what to tell you. It works very well for me. I have also seen other people that were raging over disconnects and when they adjusted their set-ups it helped.

I have to agree. I experienced the same things.
I have very good internet connection too and I disconnected once last night - but it didn't happen for months before. Last night when my ME3 client dropped from EA servers my other applications (TeamSpeak, etc.) stayed online and didn't disconnect.
I think Bioware could handle this problems much more better.
After a disconnect the game client should try to reconnect/rejoin automatically (maybe there should be a "cancel" button) and show a message like "You lost your connection with servers. Reconnecting...".
It's comfortable and faster (no loading screens, the player don't forced to clicking on the menu/origin interface, etc).
If the client could rejoin fast enough then maybe the player shouldn't loose his equipments, earned points and credits. It'd be much better, I think.
