yup. Most traditional American food is just food from other countries with more grease.

My favorite country food is ****** Barrel. I spoke to someone who's never eaten there once and it broke my heart. :(
There is one at nearly every itnerstate exit.

Ehh the Southern US has alot of things actully don't care for most of em myself, like crawfish and cornbread. Cajun food and Texi-Mex (AKA southwest) are others. Corndogs, Philly Cheesesteak, "chinese food" (the vast Majority of thats in the US and some western countries even fortune cookies as example are US invented and made for westerners) Smore's, Reuben Sandwich, cambell soups, hersheys, Buffalo Wings, Mac and cheese was pretty much invented by Thomas Jefferson. It used Italian pasta with British/American style cheese.

Nacho Chips are a US invention as well, French Toast (ironically it was first called German toast name changed during WW1) Pizza and Hamburgers now found globally had there componets in use for decades elsewhere but took there current form in the US. Kool-aid, spam, doughnuts, tuna melt, many things.

The us is a melting pot to a large extent and with most immigrants moving into the cities when first entering the country most food quickly turns portable or "on the go." Small issue on the technicalities, all countries "rip off" other countries regarding foods. Heck all humans love good food. And I would not mind trying some of the stuff the OP posted, but the US food history is far more than "a box of grease" or "knock offs" in fact a great many "national foods" today could be called knock offs of the US  (among other nations).

Me and my broskis once travel to Vietnam/Laos and we tried those so-called "exotic foods". Snakes to be specific, it ain't that bad actually. Yes they do taste similar to chicken but their meat has its own, unique flavor. Its texture is a bit tougher than chicken and it has a bit greaser exterior, sorta like squids. it's easy to prepare, skin it and clean it and it's ready to cook the taste varies greatly by species.

I've had water snakes, rat snakes, and corn snakes, and they all taste pretty much the same. Water snakes have a bit of a stronger taste, but they're all bland, until you put some seasoning on them. Then they're great. Grilled and served with soy or simmered in an Asian-style sauce, like sesame sauce, is the best I've found. Maybe you guys should try some!!!

I'm from hawai'i, which was it's own country until the americans got involved. Anyway, our culinary culture is a little mixed up, we take a little bit of every culture that comes in, mix it with ours, and looks for what sticks.

Here are some favorites from the isalnds.

Poi, ground up taro that's been cooked first and than pounded into a paste.

Image IPB

Lomi salmon, diced tomatos, onions, green onions(leeks), and of course, salmon.

Image IPB

Poke( Pronounciation :Poke-E) Really good sushi like dish, has octopus and sea salt amoung other things.

Image IPB

Laulau's, my favorites, are a dish of kalua pig and butterfish wrapped in seaweed, which is than wrapped in a ti leave, and than steamed to perfection. Really delicious with a big plate of rice and macaroni salad.

Image IPB

Now for the more comtemporary stuff, like this.

Spam musubi, fried or grilled spam placed on top of a rice musubi, delicious as well.

Image IPB

Shashimi, Raw fish cut thin, came with the japanese.

Image IPB

Along with this dish, ramen, or as it's sometimes call saimin. And not that dehydrated crap either, this is real, guniune, fresh made, have to go to a nice sit down resturant type ramen. YEAH!!!!

Image IPB

And of course, the absolute best example of our cultural cluster ****ing with food, the loco moco. Take a few scoops of white rice, fry up hamburger patties, fry some eggs, put the patties on top of the rice and than the eggs on top of that, and than soak the whole thing in brown gravy.

Image IPB

And for desert, haupia, which is coconut pudding that's been made solid like jello or tofu, really creamy and a nice desert to finish off a feast.

The buns are breaded fried chicken breasts, the filling is cheese and bacon with mayo.

It tastes good, but man you will feel terrible afterwards.
