anyone have any decent 1 handed sword builds for a weapon master/neverwinter 9 character?? i am an ALToholic and love making characters but suck at making them work on NWN2
im assuming its a fighter/WM/NW9 combo but i really dont know, any advice/builds please??? i was hoping to make a build like Rand Al Thor from Robert Jordans amazing bookseries but i cannot for the life of me figure out the casting on this game.
fighter/duelist/weapon master/neverwinter 9 would be appropriate but i doubt it would work in my experience of duelists
weapon master/neverwinter nine builds (wheel of time)

If you're adding duelist into the mix then you'll want to focus on dexterity rather than strength (with a bit of added intelligence if you want to benefit from not wearing armour). A rapier would be ideal for a dexterity-based weapon master, since it does the most damage of any weapon type that benefits from the Weapon Finesse feat (which uses dexterity instead of strength to determine the attack bonus). As a piercing weapon it also benefits from the duelist's Precise Strike feat.
I've never tried the Neverwinter Nine prestige class, since it seems that few of their bonus feats benefits them (only those around them). I'm too selfish a player to go down that path.

haha again, thanks for the advice, i think i will try that, my last duelist didnt work, you think 5-7 levels of fighter 9 levels of duelist(ive heard 7 is the most you need but i like the deflect arrows perk) and the rest weapon master, i need to have a proper look at this as it sounds like a good idea, the rapier was my weapon of choice for my finesse duelist

Note that Canny Defense from duelist is also lost when wearing a shield (in MotB, there are shields that provide +10 AC). Precise Strike doesn't crit. Parry is considered useless in high levels as it only blocks one attack per flurry.

Fighter 12/Divine Champion 8/Neverwinter Nine 3/Weapon Master 7, STR-based. Use this template:

NW9 doesn't add much to the mix: sneak attack doesn't crit, the deflection aura doesn't stack with items afaik, and guarding the lord is cast at class level (so immediately expires). Spot access, but hardly needed in the OC. 10% movement speed is not bad though.
DEX Weapon Masters are usually not the best way to go:

Also keep in mind that in the OC/MotB a major part of the opponents is immune to criticals. The suggested split will still perform well, but it negates the use of WM somewhat. In MotB however, you get a Rapier and Falchion that should allow you to crit Elementals and Spirits, respectively - I'd try it out in a trainer like VHC. The best Roleplay weapon for the OC would probably be Longsword, as it's Tyr's favored weapon.

PS: Don't focus too much on the nwn2db troll wars.

great halp, many thanks, one more question as i think ive managed to sort out my feats/attributes using a character builder(havent had time to actually play the game lately) my next question is about the skills, as i play a good character i dont get diplomacy with fighter or spellcraft/use magic device.
so what im thinking is at first level alongside weapon finesse i will take luck of heroes and able learner.
as i hear a lot about (fabled) monk boots and other class specific items i can benefit from, spellcraft gives spell resistance which is always good should i fail to dodge a spell and diplomacy gives me conversation options, tumble gives me +2 armour class so do you think SC and UMD are a good choice? i was thinking also of going for taunt but if parry isnt too useful at max level im worried ill just pull death upon myself, ive dropped improved parry from my build and will only get parry to level 10 for the duelest build (F8/D7/WM5 is what ive eventually gone for)
what do you guys think? theres always duelist specific items i could aim for rather than buy UMD and i always find nashers +3 dex boots early, although i swear i remember having to give them back at some point.
any confirmation/advice/ideas please??

Could you use some more paragraphs and punctuation?
Tumble and Spellcraft are always good to have if you have enough skill points for them. Same for UMD if you can get it to the early 10s, at least. For the OC, though, I'd go for things like Diplomacy first.
Taunt has its uses but I tend to pass on it. In the OC it has some extra use in a few convos. Lore is always good but you don't need to take it with the player character.
As GFallen said, though, I don't recommend WM, nor DEX-based melee in the OC. And generally speaking, don't bother with WM unless you're going to take 7 levels on it.
