2. Even if we are to believe Saren wasn't indoctrinated at the beginning of the game, he sure as hell would have been after Sovereign made sure to "upgrade" him prior to the ending.
In the novels Paul Grayson had been physically altered with Reaper alloys running through his body and he was still able to resist at small key moments right up until the end. It's probably the best source of how indoctrination works because in a written novel you are able to get inside the characters head and learn what they are thinking. Basing it on what you see in the game you lack that kind of insight.

I'd really like to know whether or not that's true.

Not gonna call out names, but to those who have already decided that the DLC is stupid before it's released:
Let me tell you. You're not going to like it. Not because it's actually that bad. No...You won't like it because you're going to actively scavenge for reasons to hate it.
This mentality is incredibly unhealthy.
Actually logical thought...thank you. "If you plan to fail, you will fail."
However, my reason for not getting Leviathan DLC is not based on the epicness of the DLC, but on whether it will add to the ending.
Frankly, I thoroughly enjoyed all the game previous to the ending, from "We Fight or We Die" to aboutish "Someone Made IT IN"...just about to that point (pre EC as well).
Suicide, suicide and suicide (maybe?) just tends to dampen my enthusiasm for re-reading the story for some reason.
Don't get me wrong. There are legitamate reasons for not wanting to buy it, and I'm certainly not dictating whether other people should buy it or not.
My post was directed at those who literally can't wait to hate it. As if they are happy that this DLC will give them more ammo against the franchise.

I wonder if they actually brought back any of the VA's for this, or did they go even cheaper and just slice up old dialogue to throw into it.
wouldnt be surprised if they went all the way back to jade empire and used the waterdragon's dialogue.......waterdragon>leviathan

There was this little showcase of the DLC with Garrus and James, both had more dialogue. Cortez was in there too, with a lot more dialogue. Obviously Shep speaks

well since they pretty much had to call in the entire crew to make the EC it would make sense that they recorded the lines for this dlc there as well.

yes...it would make sense. Why would you make a appointment with the actors only for a few lines...these are busy people and are not cheap. I am certain that they combined the EC voiceover session with the Laviathen , maybe even Omega.

HA HA HA, called in the "entire" cast... you sir are priceless. With the exception of the three who did epilogues, the LI's did four lines, and considering how much they love their reused footage, I bet those were already in the can.
Bioware refuses to do quality work after all.

As a fellow novel reader, you should know that at the end of the first book Saren finds Sovereign.
Mass Effect 1 takes place YEARS later.
I don't find it realistic that Saren was not "fully indoctrinated" when Sovereign had ample time to dominate him.

Edit: As far as Leviathan and wishful thinking goes, it would only benefit BioWare to actually have something in Leviathan affect the endings. For example in Destroy: Instead of it targeting all synthetics, Leviathan links up with the Crucible/Citadel and uploads its programming into the Crucible's targeting system, then Shepard destroys any signals that match up (ie all the Reapers).
Honestly would there be much rage over this? News articles about how BioWare was dishonest when it said it wouldn't change the endings further?
But anyway, they said it's done so I guess it's done.

No doubt liara will be involved in every important cutscene, she'll be the easter egg like noob tobais in MK...* toastyyy*
Please, can we not.
As for the DLC itself, that's cool, I guess. Probably won't be playing it for a week or so after it comes out, anyway.

The EC did seem to take longer than the content would suggest. I wonder if they worked on Leviathan DLC while working on the EC. They may have been working on Omega DLC as well.
It would be shrewd of them to do so so that the DLCs are not released to long after the game's release.
If they were... multitasking, if you will, then the Omega DLC may be released sooner than expected.

Well, maaze is right that this isn't about Leviathan anymore. If anyone decides to make a thread explaining why the ME1 and 2 endings are good from a literary perspective, then I'll be happy to contribute.

For all intents and purposes, the "nerd rage" is over.
As I see it, every game has a limited amount of energy, positive and negative. When something truly spectacular occurs to a popular franchise (i.e. the failed ME3 ending), there can be a release of that fan-following energy.
Now that there has been such a reaction, all that BioWare does will be under a microscope. Failure on two major franchises (Dragon Age and to a much lesser extent, Mass Effect) damages credibility, and spurs the company to better efforts.
Ergo, BioWare will attempt to increase its prestige by releasing either content that improves the game or content that was already prepared, and will not improve the game. It has nothing really to lose by improving the ending, except, perhaps, for what has been statistically proven to be the minority of fans.
