Since there is no official board for DA3 and topics about seem to get split up and separated into different threads, I have decided to make an "all purpose" thread for it. General discussion about the game, what you want from it, and post some of your own suggestions/ideas.

What I want: Combat that's a mix between DA:O and DA2. DA:O's combat had you managing your party and placing characters where they could work best(putting a rogue behind a target) and debuffing enemies to help others or yourself(stunning an enemies for a rogue to get an auto-back stab or a rogue debuffing a targets armor and attack). But, at the same time, its general combat could be "boring" due to it mostly consisting of you pressing the A button and sitting there. This is were DA2 did better, the combat was a bit more fluid and more exciting with more variation in the standard attack(my rogue in DA:O just seemse to alternate stabs).

But, DA2 was too extreme, it had your character doing flips and jumping from enemy to enemy, even if you had a great sword. It made it feel like Devil May Cry. It too, however got repetitive, all you did was mash the A button to do the same combo over and over. Its combat was also too fasr paced, making it feel more like an action game than a party based RPG, but DA:O's was too slow. A happy medium should be found with combat pacing. If they're going to keep normal fighting they way it was in DA2, they should at least add another button for a heavy attack or something, so that you aren't just mashing one button and you could try to mix it up and do combos. But, at the same time, they should try to put more emphasis on class skills and make them have more importance in the fight, instead of just using the basic attacks.

Also, I would like a Werewolf as a companion. They seemed civil...enough in DA:O that it doesn't seem impossible to find one that would be willing to join the Protagonist.

What I want:

- Day & night cycles. All the Elder Scrolls had them, as did all the Forgotten Realms games, Fallout games, and Arcanum. There is no good reason for not having it. I remember arguing this fruitlessly months before DAO's release. That is half the time you could play that doesn't exist. It breaks immersion. If you are a stealth character, it seems unrealistic to be attempting to "sneak" around in the broad daylight, when you could instead do it at 2 in the morning.

- Proper thieving. I want to pick what I pick pocket, and it should be realistic to the character. Is some beggar on the street corner going to have a gold amulet? Not likely. Everyone should have at least one thing that is stealable (ie, a coinpurse, with varying quantities of wealth). If I can unlock doors/traps, I should be able to sneak into places. This has been a common feature in pretty much every RPG ever. It doesn't make sense for it to not be present in a game that sells itself as an RPG. It makes the "stealth" abilities solely useful in combat, rather than thoroughly useful in the game.

- The ability to kill/attack anyone you choose to. Again, a typically available feature in almost every RPG. I also argued for this months before DAO, also to no avail. What I got was some sort of convoluted explanation of how that wasn't necessary and would complicate game play. To which I answered, "Save early, save often." This is standard practice when playing RPGs in particular. There is no good reason to prevent it. I should be able to attack the king, even if it is with my bare hands, and proceed to get skewered by the palace guards. Oh, and every Bethesda game supports it, as did all the Forgotten Realm games, Fallout games, and Arcanum.

- Full customization of player character. I don't want to be named, unless it is just my last name. I want to be whole I choose to be. Skyrim allowed you to make your character skinny or brawny, or somewhere in between. I want to be able to do the same thing. That's why I couldn't get into The Witcher or Gothic- you are who they say you are, and you look the way they want you to. That's not how it has been in most RPGs (Forgotten Realms titles, Fallout games, Arcanum, Elder Scrolls). I don't want to role-play Hawke, I want to role-play whoever I choose. I don't want to be forced to become a prince, because maybe I wouldn't. Maybe I would become an assassin, or a brigand leader.

- All major races- preferably all races. And I want it to matter. If there are very few or no dwarves in Orlais, then I want people to react substantially differently to me, not just pretend I'm a human character. If everyone is terrified of Qunari, I want it to be difficult for me to play the game as one.

What I don't want:
- Nonlinear story. I don't want to jump all over the place. I want to start at one point, and end at another. At this point, I am thoroughly confused by the whole intent behind Dragon Age, since I kinda figured it was going to be part of a contiguous storyline, and you would be able to keep advancing the same character.

- Dialogue wheel. I want to be able to pick a variety of responses. I want there to be things based on my class/guild/organization, friendly/neutral/hostile/joking. I want my reputation to be able to influence what my options are, like, "Hey, I literally just razed that other outpost to the ground, so I recommend you give me what I want" or "I've spent the last 3 weeks clearing those tunnels of __, so I expect some sort of cooperation on this". I would like for there to be wisdom/charisma/intelligence related "checks", where if I have a high intelligence character, he figures more things out in conversations, if he is charismatic, he makes more attempts to change their minds, if he is wise, he is better able to recognize when they are lying, or something like that. Again, most RPGs have these features.

That is all I can think of for now. I don't have high expectations, and will certainly not be pre-ordering. In general, I have been very disappointed in this "spiritual successor" to BG. I understand the reason for leaving D&D, for creating original IP, and for going with "low magic" fantasy. I don't understand failing to incorporate the very same RPG elements that existed in previous games [specifically referencing BG] and then expecting RPG players to say, "Wow, this is the best ever!" In order to be the best, you have to have at least the features of what came before, plus more, as well as improvements. Instead, every DA game has been different, each has had certain features while lacking others. It doesn't make sense to me.

what I want is that I want Malcolm to be real as the ultimate grey warden!!! The only reason why is that I have dragon age is because of that warden trailer but I was tricked when I saw nothing but random faces on my character creator that has no resemblance of him! And I want a voice over for the warden. He sounds so dull if don't know what the heck is coming up with the conversation that has no life at all. And if it is an open world map well let them create a map that is far larger than any other maps that other MMoRPG created with.

1. I agree on day and night like the Elders Scrolls in what ztemplarz said.

2. I would like to choose the weight and be able to start from scratch( no face and you just pick a shape of a face, choose the chet size, muscle size, and again weight.)
3. I would also like to be able to choose if my character had a sassy, negative, polite, violent, or kind personality.
4. I would like to be able to have the shopping system like the Elder Scrolls games.
5. Dialog choices based on your personality and friendly/neutral/hostile/joking thing.
6. An origin to be a dalish mage. And the ability to make your own Origin like in the toolset. I personaly would have like to be Duncans secret kid in the origins.

I absolutely think they should make it Dragon Age Origins 2 and forget about Dragon age 2. Thats just my opinion. I hated DA2 because it wasnt connected to DAO(maybe a little bit) and I hated how you were in one place the whole time and how there were the act 1,2, and 3 thing.

I think they should let you have relationships with atleast 20 people and you could get married when ever you wanted like Skyrim and Fable. I also think you should be able to have kids. Though if your in a relationship with one of the main characters then you shouldnt be able to have kids until the main storyline is finished.

I think there souldn't be any invisble walls and have it travel where ever you want like Oblivion and Skyrim and Fallout. No end game! I really hope it is like the Elder Scrolls that way if you complete the mainline you could still involve yourself in Warden buisness, become a commander, captain, and etc. Help villiagers out and travel all the Kingdoms, or help out the Dwarves and take back the lost Thaigs!

My biggest thing is if you are the queen or king consort, you can live your life still. do a quest so you have a miracle and have an heir. I also think that if you broke up with some one you should be able to get back with them.

Hope Bioware takes this all in.

What I want?

A character and companions I can relate to. That I care for. A main protagonist with less of a background (amnesia maybe?)...but a voice. I actually don't care that much about other races beside humans, I think it is a rather redundant feature, though I know some players just love their dwarves for some reason I never understand...

Combat being more tactical than action-oriented. I miss the days of old (BG1 + 2, Icewind Dale etc) where your party was for example all equipped with ranged weapons, unleashing arrows on the storming orc horde to thin them out, then the tanks went to melee while mages carefully chose what spell to use...not even DAO gave me that feeling that much (it was too focused on constantly healing my group with magic for my taste...)

A sense of adventure, exploring and travelling! I know this will be about the mage-templar-conflict, and all that high-minded stuff. But I miss so much from fantasy-RPG the basic things. A party setting out, finding old ruins, exploring their dark secrets, solving their mystery...dungeons like Mines of Moria, Durlags tower or the Watcher's keep...going ever deeper and deeper, into the darkness...and a little less political intrigue etc...

Items. A difficult topic. I like finding things in chests and on enemies. But really, must it be all those crap-items thrown after us we never use anyway, all with different materials(tiers), but basically the same looking? I would prefer less item-find, but more diverse styles and suited for different character-builds. Dwarven mail should look much different in style than Orlesian deisgns, or stuff from Antiva, Nevarra. Give us some stuff to dress our heros differently, in style fitting to their character we made up in our minds. Not more items, more (visual) diversity on items

Also on items: Magic ones. I want that ones rare and special. And with stats more unique than just "messy kills +5", still wonder what that did. I want magic items with a stronger historical background. Yes, DAO and DA2 had those in a way...but I can't put my finger on why but it always felt a little lame to me, all those magic itmes. they just weren't that special to me...I remember how much I worked to make money in BG2 to get some girdles of giant strength for my heroes, and they really improved the chars abilities greatly...the DA-items hardly give me that feeling. Bigger strength, a little fire damage, more %amount of this or that...*yawn*...

Last but not least: A story that gets me thrilled, that keeps coherent with the events so far, has NO plot-twists out of the blue (I look at you, ME3), has a "true" villain/antagonist and not just some weird political or theological entity as a "faceless" enemy, and pelase make that villain present throughout the story, confronting us with words and actions, so we might hate him or her, and rejoice seeing him or her falling to the ground in the end...

And by all means, make that end fullfilling and with an oldfashioned sense of triumph. I want to end the story of DA3 in the old-fashioned heroic style, maybe with some losses, but hero + LI alive if we play thoroughly enough, and almost all plotpoints solved...again, I have my eyes on you, Mr. Mass Effect 3...Posted Image

I couldn't help thinking that you just want a mix of DA and Sims.

Oh, and it would be nice to get a proper explanation of the Morrigan storyline. All we get was in DA2 that Flemeth didn't died.

If day/night thing returns i'd prefer it to feel a natural cycle and not get an hour in and realise i have to manually choose whether i want it to be day or night.

Bow thingy 101:
Step 1 - Find post you want to respond to
Step 2 - Click the word "quote" with the green plus sign to the left of it in the top right corner of a person's post
Step 3 - Type your response

Alternativly(sic) just typing in [quote.]insert text [/quote.](remove period) will quote somthing, but without the "soandso wrote..."

So the way these games go, Morrigan will be a romancable character so the Warden's son will grow up listening to the voice of some Orlesian... wait where did the Warden go and where is Hawkeye?

1. Can't stand the Orlesian accent
2. Dragon age 2
3. What happened to the Warden?
4. Will DA 4 include Warden, Hawke and this new guy?

After the last couple of failed games I'll be waiting for Angryjoe reviews instead of preordering.
