!PLEASE NO SPOILERS REGARDING COMPANIONS OR QUESTS!
-> I'm not that far into the game yet. Thx!

[My Game: PC; DA:O Ultimate Edition v1.05; all content activated]

1.) Which enemys (and traps etc.) cause Fire, Cold, Electric, Nature, and Spirit damage? Obviously Fire-Spells cause Fire-damage and so forth, but what enemies cause Nature- and Spirit-damage (as example)? Is there a list/thread for that somewhere?

2.) Where can I see a character's Spell-Resistance? It doesn't show up in the main character screen.

3.) Is it possilbe to switch characters while in the trade-menu (ie: while buying/selling stuff) - using some secret key sequence, a console command or the like? That would make buying/comparing items more easy.

4.) And Is it somehow possible to craft traps, potions etc. with characters in the camp?

Thanks in advance!

1) -- It is possible, at least on the PC platform of the game, to have damage show during battle as coloured numbers that float above the character being damaged.  The colour of the number indicates the sort of damage that was done:  green is nature damage, purple is spirit, and so on.  If you read the game manual it gives a complete list of damage by colour.  So by observing the numbers you should be able to figure out what kind of damage is being done by which sort of enemy.  That is the way I do it, anyway.  Maybe there is listing of all enemies and the damage they do somewere on the internet....?  Dragon Age Wiki is sometimes a good resource.

2) Resistances are shown in the character's statistics menu.  Same page that shows the atttribute numbers for Strength, Magic, Willpower, and so on.

3)  The main character is always the trader, as far as I know.  But there is a drop-down list of all the characters at the bottom of the trading menu.  Just change the name to the one for whom you want to buy items, and then that character's currently equipped items will be the ones listed in the comparison.

4)  Only if the it is the main character doing the crafting.  Otherwise, no. (afaik)

1) Of course! I forgot about the colours after reading the manual... Stupid me!
I'm using http://dragonage.wik...Dragon_Age_Wiki quite a lot actually. If anyone has a list of enemies/monsters using [Elemental] damage, pls post!

2) I've not got DA:O running atm, but iirc there are only values for (a) mental, (B) physical and (c1-5) the 5 elemental resistancies? No 'Spell'-resistance value though... perhaps I overlooked something; I'll check...

3) Will try that, the next time I play DA:O. Thanks a lot! That's a great help. (Is there a +rep-system here? - I'd give you some just for that information.)

4) Oh, well... I guess it keeps me from 'mis'-using some of the companions as mere trap-makers etc. ...

@fox99: Spell resistance is not shown anywhere in the interface. You have to add up the resistances from all the equipped gear yourself and see.

The regular darkspawn generally don't use elemental attacks, only the bosses use them, which you can easily check out in the wiki. However, emissaries & mages may use staves having elemental damage modifier, & then there are spiders that'll use talents dealing nature and spirit damage. Shades, demons will often use spells in the entropy school like weakness, drain, flame burst, detonate while dying dealing fire damage and so on. Arcane horror will deal spirit damage quite often, desire demons use spells like CoC, winter's grasp, horror and likewise.

Regarding spell resistances...

I've never been real clear on how that works. If Alistair is 40% spell resistant, what exactly does that mean? Does a Crushing Prison spell do 40% less damage? Or do damage for 40% less time? Or both?

Or does it mean that for 40% of the times the spell is cast at Alistair, the spell will have no effect at all -- doing no damage at all? And for the other 60% it will do the usual amount of damage for the usual length of time?

Anyone know how that works?

I was under the impression that it was all or nothing, sort of like d&d spell resistance only with percentage failure chance instead of a caster level check.

@gandalin - From what I've gathered from my recent 100% spell resistant templar playthrough, it seems the spell resistance value is just the % probability of resisting a hostile spell completely. It is not an indication of how much damage an element would do. During my templar playthrough, i noticed whenever a fireball was cast at me, i resisted the spell completely, thereby resisting the knockdown effect; but I still took some damage because of being set on fire by the spell. I guess it was my fire resistance % which determined that damage. Another instance, i took damage from chain lightning when the spell was cast on one of my party members and the forks hit me

In regards to crafting whilst in the camp with your companions, I believe you can. Open up the Character screen and switch to the companion that has the skill, then open up the skill menu and use the ability. Pretty sure thats what I did last time I tried.

Doesn't work for me.. but perhaps I'm doing something wrong.

@Blazomancer
Very informative post... again. Thanks!

You aren't doing anything wrong. Despite being able to interact with the others, only the main character is active while in camp.

I have a similar question but didnt want to make a new topic. For coercion, once I get it to level 4 does that mean I automatically will sway someone in a conversation or do I need to keep adding more cunning as well to help? So basically after I get coercion do I need to keep leveling cunning? I am playing currently as a rouge so I know its important but I don't want to level it too much if I don't have to.

I have a mage with maxed coercion, and she failed the Intimidate check to scare off that elven archer who's guarding the slavers. (Which I have passed with other characters.) I think that answers that question.

Edit: For the record, I'd been wondering too. Which is why your answer's three days late.
