Alright so this is a short story that I wrote around april/may and I wrote it for my girlfriend's birthday since she loves Mass Effect and I do too haha. I wrote it before I played ME 3 and it is basically an ending to the game and it is of an Garrus/Fem Shep romance. I hope you enjoy it.

"Memories"


The blinds are closed, the room is dark except for a stray ray of light that enters from a small hole where a Reaper laser tore a bit of the hull at the Battle for Earth. It remains there as a scar of the galaxy’s battle against the Reapers. The ray of light comes from the small moon the private shuttle is orbiting, it sheds some light on the half darkened room. On top of a workstation in the corner a Mantis sniper rifle is seen, and on the floor are what appear to be a Turian’s armor and shields and some clothes. The light next sheds some light on the middle of the room, by the wall is a bed, something stirs on it and reveals two figures facing each other as they sleep. One of the individuals suddenly moves and lays his back on the bed and stares at the roof with eyes open. The figure next to him in bed with its arm around his abdomen slowly stirs and asks him,

-“What’s wrong?”

He turns his face towards her and caresses her cheek with his hand,

-“Just remembering; relieving some of our memories together.”

She looks at him and moves closer to him, she then rests her head on his body,

-“Oh really? Well then Garrus Vakarian, do tell me about some of those memories you are remembering.”

He laughs, and he caresses her face and her hair.

-“I shall I shall Shepard. Take it slow my love”

She puts her hand on his face and for a moment his expression completely softens as he feels his partner’s hand on his face, he caresses her hand.

-“Well I was remembering that time in Omega when we had that skirmish with some Batarian slavers, and you got wounded all over your right side and I had to carry you from lower Afterlife to the Normandy. I got through at least 20 to 30 Batarians, those guys are stubborn, but they were no match for ‘Archangel’. It got a little harder when I got shot on my left leg, but it didn’t matter I had to get you to safety and I did. Sure, I had EDI barking at me for doing something so risky and dangerous, but in the end she was glad that I had been able to get you out of danger. Then I had Chakwas worrying about my leg but I was able to persuade her to just give me some medi-gel and to focus her full efforts on saving you and healing you. I have to admit I was scared Shepard, I didn’t want to lose you and I still don’t.” – Shepard kisses him- “After that I was given permission by Chakwas to carry you unconsciously to your cabin and I did. I would have stayed had it not been for EDI, who decided it was inappropriate for me to be there with you and that I needed to let you rest. I kissed you and I caressed your face, I put your hand on my face and then I left, I didn’t want to, but I had to. I still managed to get in once or twice into your cabin while Joker chatted up EDI, and I would just lie down next to you, staring at your face and wondering what was going on in your head and if.... if maybe you were dreaming or thinking about me. I like to think that you were, well I did hear you say my name two or three times so my detective skills were right.” –He laughs and then he looks into her eyes- “And then EDI locked me out completely. That is one stubborn AI. I became nervous, unsure, I walked around the ship like a hungry varren looking for any information on who was it that attacked us and any information on how you were doing, I only got simple answers, nothing that could calm my nerves. I ended up in the main battery, I walked around a lot, but I was able to distract myself by calibrating the ship’s weapons, though I think I over calibrated the Thanix Cannon. But at last, two days later I heard the bulkhead hiss open and there you were standing before me, in all your beauty and splendor. You are the most beautiful woman of this galaxy Shepard. And of course what happened later you already know.”

-Shepard blushes- “Yes, I remember when that happened, it was a hell of a fight. So you did all that Garrus? You stayed by my side even though I was unconscious? You kissed me and caressed my face and lied down next to me?” – She looks deeply into his eyes.

- “Yes, I did all of that Shepard.” –A smile appears on her face and then she begins to cry. “Hey, hey, don’t cry my love” He caresses her cheek and her expression softens as she feels the Turian hand on her face.

- “So remind me what happened after I appeared before you in the main battery.” – She winks at him-

- “Well, we chatted for a bit and then you invited me up to your quarters and we chatted a bit more. After that we let our emotions and feelings do the talking and we participated in a couple of rounds of sparring, 10 if I remember correctly. We broke my old record and I’m glad it was with you, you have stamina Shepard.”

- “Well yes I have stamina, but you have reach and I flexibility” – She throws a wink and a smile at him. He chuckles-

- “True true. But it was a magnificent night that I got to spend with you.”

- “That it was Garrus. So what else passed through your mind?”

- “The date on the Citadel of course, that was something marvelous and exciting, something different. I always wanted to go the highest point of the Presidium and yes it was mind-blowing, but you made it a truly unique moment. I admit I was a bit nervous but I gradually calmed down, you ease my tension and just make me feel so good. And I recall perfectly that which you told me ‘I love you Garrus Vakarian’, that moment just sums up everything, as I stared into your brown eyes and I looked into your soul and I knew and felt that those words you pronounced were the truth. And I still stand by what I said, it would be an awfully empty galaxy without you butterfly” – She stares into his eyes and caresses his face – “And yes, that is still my favorite spot on the Citadel as I proved that my sniper skills are unmatchable, but you’ll get there one day my love, but for now there are other things you’re good at”

- “Aww. Always the romantic Vakarian." – Shepard shakes her head amused-

- “It’s not perfect but I’m good at it. Another moment, more recent is when I told you we would be storming heaven if anything went bad, taking them all by surprise and of course culminating at a meeting at the bar if things went sideways, but they didn’t. Now Shepard, I want to tell you something” – He straightens himself up on the bed and he holds her hand-

- “What is it Garrus?”

- “Well I want to talk about us and our future. I told you that if we ever survived this thing with the Reapers I wanted to retire somewhere tropical with you, and I want to go on with that idea. Maybe on Earth, just so that we can relax and be with each other. Of course a side job once in a while to keep our skills honed, maybe deal with some Batarian slavers or some corrupt politicians. Something like that, all I know is that wherever we go from on here I want to be with you and I won’t leave your side Shepard. Ever.” – He squeezes her hand affectively-

- “Garrus as do I want to spend the rest of my life by your side. But on Earth, won’t you die? That’s what worries me love”

- “Actually, there’s something I have to tell you. Before Mordin went to cure the Genophage he had a chat with me and he gave me something. Knowing that we were together and how we felt for each other and that were probably going to be health problems if we were together, he gave me two vials. One he told me contained a chemical that would let us sleep together without having to worry about infection or sickness, so that’s one problem solved. The other vial contained something he said would change how things happened between species. This chemical lets me live on Earth, eat human food, breathe the air, etc, so I can live on your planet just like any other human. So it is possible for us to retire somewhere tropical” –he kisses her

- “What!?!? Are you serious Garrus?”

- “Yes, butterfly. It’s the truth. I am serious”

- A big smile appears on her face and she can’t seem to stop kissing and hugging Lieutenant Vakarian – “I can’t believe it. That Mordin, always thinking ahead” – She laughs-

- “Shepard, can you loosen up a bit? You’re choking me a bit. – he chuckles-

- “Sorry Garrus, I just feel so happy and I still can’t believe it. So, what kind of place did you have in mind?”

- “I know you’re happy, so am I. We have to thank Mordin for this, hope he found peace. He’s probably watching us from above now. Anyway I was thinking... I don’t know... Rio, maybe? But we can discuss that later at night or tomorrow. Right now I want to test your flexibility.”

- Her eyes widen but later return to normal, a seductive smile appears. She begins caressing his body – “Well then Vakarian, what are you waiting for? I want to test your reach and I would also like to see if we can surpass last time’s 10 rounds.”

- “Oh really? Well your waist is very..... supportive.” – He winks-

- Shepard puts her index finger on his mouth – “No more words Lieutenant. That’s an order.”
