The standard build is to skip ML but that may change with more understanding and Bioware buffs.

Why would you not use consumables on this weapon? On gold on top of that? Even a level 1 ammo consumable is great on it.Pedactor wrote...

As far as I'm concerned, I've played maybe 2/3 games with PPR users... I'd like to find a PC team with 4 PPR users. That would be a sight to behold!

No. I don't like the Typhoon because it's bad after the nerf and weighs a ton and the Revenant does more damage in my experience, as is most of the feedback of those I play with who didn't start using it again until it reached lvl 6. The only SMG I use is the Hurricane. All the others are junk imo. The Reegar I still use, but only on a Kroguard.

The reasoning being that they will continuously fire and stagger enemies while you fire the PPR in 'hot' mode. Grenades would interrupt the firing. Besides, multi frags are pretty meh themselves.
The problem with this weapon is first range, and then the ramp time. Range seems to be around 20m which is not enough on some maps, and the ramp up is a real hindrance on Plat, where the damage is so high, that even with cyclonic mod IV,I find my destroyer taking cover way before the beam has 'powered' up. Im not saying it's a bad gun, I actually like it too. But it does have a few shortcomings I havent found a way around yet on platinum.

No. On or off, the Destroyer is immune to stagger. Thats just his innate passive independant of devastator mode.Ashen Earth wrote...

You play on the PC? That maybe why you don't like it. ( this is not a Console vs PC thing).
I maybe wrong but you have to use the mouse to move the camera and shoot and the keyboard to move your character right? It maybe the difference between using analog sticks + triggers and using the keyboard + mouse that makes the PR seem so bad on the PC.
But I don't play PC games let alone shooters so I maybe wrong.

Yeah mouse moves the camera and aims. I have a high res gaming laser mouse, though.
I thought of that, it could be true, but I think the reason most vote to kick PPR users is that they end up on the floor alot unless they are very good with it. No other weapon that I can think of does that.

I give you that, this weapon is neither a front line weapon or one you shoot in the open. You're more of a Ravager than a Brute with it, if you catch my drift. Heavy support fire, so to speak. When I play on gold with my human soldier, I can be a giant with feet of clay. But as I'm mostly staying behind, I don't get my teammates killed if they want to rez me.

Rate of fire comes with this. The weapon becomes faster, but as I recall, it doesn't enter the kickarse mode faster, you still have to wait 3 secs
Gear, however does not apply.

Barrage Gear helps spare clip capacity. The Particle Rifle has no spare clip. It has a clip. That recharges itself after it makes a terrible smell if you run it to zero and gets really hot.

1. Yes, but you don't go into hot mode any faster. Of course you're doing much higher DPS, but you're burning more ammo in cold mode as well, so in a way it hurts the Particle Rifle.
2. No. It has no recoil, so the stability bonus is wasted.
It has no spare ammo, so the spare clip capacity is wasted.

This has nothing to do with how awesome we are for making a weapon work which the most of the people can't make work. It's about we want to enjoy the game and search for varieties, and interesting new builds to play. It's about defending something that doesn't deserve to be hated, and show people that if they can't make it work it's just their own fault.

It's more likely that I'll just be thankful for yet another unnecessary buff to one of my favorite guns because the masses don't know how to play the game.

OK, so the second quote directly contradicts the first.
And......
Just as the Piranha was nerfed because everybody used the hell out of it (and still does because its very design is OP'd), so too shall this gun be changed if representation of its usage remains in the toilet. Unless of course they designed the gun for the minority who currently succeed with it.
That's the way this works. You can shred me and rip on me all you want. Hell they could buff its multiplier to 8 times, that still wouldn't change the fact that the ramp up, plus the weight, plus the 5 second reload are NOT going to ever make this gun mainstream, user-friendly to the majority of shooter players.
