Nice clip.

How does the animation work? It appears that each of those rings measures a different aspect of time. Can each of them by animated independently?

The zodiac marks the months. The small sun marks the days. They animate at transition then are destroyed and replaced with the next models. The Moon in the centre marks the moon phases and changes with the day. Full moon is on day 13... It's entirely script & placeable based so can be placed anywhere.

Wow... does that mean you are making a ton of models?

Couldn't the parts just be single individual placeable models rotated by script when needed? The minute hand could still be an animation based on in game time scale, but as for the rest it sounds pretty model heavy, though admittedly the final product looks good how it is.

I don't think you'd get the smooth transition with setfacing, besides it's done now. Only 65 models. LOL I'll give it a bash though.

Any chance for a more generic version that avoids RL zodiac signs? Maybe letters or numbers for the month? *shrugs* I try to keep RL influences out of my NWN as much as can do. Maybe some symbols to signify the months as named in DND lore?

Excellent stuff tho. Kudos.

Be well. Game on.

Borden, if you released a package with the textures and explained which texture went with what, others could easily do what ehye_khandee is requesting.

Point me at some symbols for the months and I'll have a go. The zodiac are from the actual clock in Venice.

Don't get me wrong, I think it is way cool - but I try to remove all RL influenced things to improve immersion. I'll see if I can find some suitable symbols to offer.

Be well. Game on!

Cool, what are the months called in Neverwinter anyway... They don't exactly conform with the 30 day, ten day week standard do they?

No, they do not, but still having them would be suitable for builders.

"Deepwinter" (January)
"The Claw of Winter"
"Ches of the Sunsets"
"Tarsakh of the Storms"
"The Melting"
"The Time of Flowers"
"Summertide"
"Highsun"
"The Fading"
"Leafall"
"The Rotting"
"The Drawing Down" (December)

NWN runs off of 28 day months
four seven day weeks per month.

336 days a year,
48 weeks in the year.

I found this convenient when I started on my PW, since that's the same exact calendar setup as my gameworld had used for years in PnP.

NWN doesn't actually have names for years/months/days/etc.  Just raw numbers.  Example: "Month 11, Day 3, Hour 7".

The Calendar of Harptos
Month Name Common Name
1 Hammer Deepwinter
Annual holiday: Midwinter
2 Alturiak The Claw of Winter
3 Ches The Claw of the Sunsets
4 Tarsakh The Claw of the Storms
Annual holiday: Greengrass
5 Mirtul The Melting
6 Kythorn The Time of Flowers
7 Flamerule Summertide
Annual holiday: Midsummer
8 Eleasis Highsun
9 Eleint The Fading
Annual holiday: Highharvestide
10 Marpenoth Leaffall
11 Uktar The Rotting
Annual holiday: The Feast of the Moon
12 Nightal The Drawing Down

I could just do a version with the months initials for the purists.

Managed to get it down to 19 models. 2 for a choice of month indicator, 1 for the hour hand, 1 for the clock body, one for the weekday indicator and 14 for the moon phase. I can't reduce them further as GetFacing wont work on them. (They move on a different axis). just plonk the clock body down add the scripts and you're off. Who do I send it to since Rolo is otherwise occupied?

You can send it my way, to builder@neverwinternights.info.  I'll bundle it in with the other files for the Steampunk CCC.
