If there was any game that you could say was a GOW ripoff it was the last two Harry Potter games, what they did to the series was just wrong.

I wouldn't mind firearms in DA. I don't see an issue with old guns in fantasy. Especially with fantasy that has a setting where people mistrust magic, so looking for alternatives to magic just makes sense. Fantasy isn't much about the combat as it is about the setting and characters.

DA3 would be a little soon I would think, but seeing a prototype or early experiment would be nice.

Just my opinion, obviously, I would like to see Thedas grow, they could always have games go into the past as well.
Unless they are planning some huge world changing catastrophe to happen like what happened to Beleriand, keeping tech the same without embracing magic to stagnate it, would be a bit silly. Especially since this is not high fantasy, where the world remains in a constant dream state and such a thing is acceptable.

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing early guns in DA games, but I'd like them to stick to either qunari, dwarf, and/or tevintar npc enemies (alternatively as the special weapon to one companion similar to Bianca might work), as realistically these three groups are the only ones close enough to knowing how.

Honestly though it makes sense for people to want to develope gunpowder based weapons and early artillery. Think how much easier blights and pushing back into the deep roads would be if darkspawn formations could be mortar bombarded from a distance and ogres could be blasted by cannons.  Also there is the whole thing that guns would put common folk on a closer plane to mages.

Don't qunari at least have cannons? Guns aren't a huge technological advancement from cannon.

Also didn't Duke Prosper have a gun of some sort? Or was that a weird tiny gun-shaped repeater crossbow?

Guns are not heroic. You don't have an epic heroic fight with guns. The fight with guns, if accurately portrayed, would be over immediately. Of course, what they usually do is make guns much less effective, so you hit and the damage per shot is relatively miniscule. That's pathetic too.

A gun shot would presumably do less damage than fireball and you can wail on someone with a sword the size of your body for ten minutes.

Given that swords and magic don't seem to do 'realistic' damage, why would treating a gun the same way be pathetic?

This is true. And we already have grenades. Hell I love the Fell Grenade. I honestly do not see a problem with guns being in Dragon Age at some point. I'm not saying they should rush off into a steampunk industrial revolution ala Fable 2 and 3. But the tech's already in the lore (qunari) and the Orlisians already look like the musketeers of France. And it makes sense from a practical sense since magic is so feared and hated that people would look for alternatives to grant normal people more firepower.

That's the entire plot of one side mission in DA2. That dwarf wants the qunari gunpowder.

Oh and then there's the magically enhansed chemical reaction that a certain spoilery character kinda spoilers the whole spoiler at the end of DA2.

...I sound like a smurf in that last sentence.
