I did not get the Ageless 2H sword in the play through of the game, and of course, I am disappointed as my warden character is 2H specialist.

How did anyone know about this easter egg weapon other than experimentation in throne room? Was there hints on a codex tablet anywhere?  Spoiler link on how to get dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Ageless

Hopefully in the expansion there will be a way to get this weapon that has interesting benefits of:

Weakens Nearby Darkspawn (By how much?)
Messy Kills (More beheadings? Brutal kills? I wish I had this for this proc alone)
+4 Damage vs. Darkspawn
Increases Hostility and Intimidation (Very useful for a 2H warrior)
+0.25 Stamina Regeneration in Combat

I'd be dissapointed if an expansion started regiving out old named items instead of new named items.

I don't see why they'd do that..I mean there's already a way to get it in the game.

You are right. The sword is in the game. But I have two problems with this:

1. No Codex entries referring to the Ageless sword so it is more like an easter egg than an actual item you are meant to find. (Perhaps there is a codex note that I missed?)
2. After you crown the Dwarven King, there is no way to acquire this weapon.

So it's a reward for exploring, and a penalty if you don't.

The first time I stepped on the panel (which is smack dab in the middle of the room before) it startled the crap out of me. Then you see two more floor panels, and the throne is interactive, put two and two together... (especially if you did the Dwarven Noble origin, which had the same "step there" puzzle - Urn, too.)

I found out about this sword and Yurasis another great 2H sword by trolling the forums. I enjoy this game very much because every time I replay it I find something new.

BTW Yurasis is the sword you need to kill the dragons in this game efficiently it has +10 Kill to Dragons which really helps with some of the dragons in the game.

The Ageless sword hint is on a scroll when you first enter the dwarven city. A quest called Key to the City. I find using the TAB key on every room I enter shows you all the of the items that are clickable in that room.

Well, actually, the hint is Caged in Stone. You get it by clicking on the throne. It says that some sort of beast was captured and magically inserted into the throne. Although it does not say how it can be released, it is easy to put two and two together when you walk over the panels.

Does the Archdemon count as a Dragon or a Darkspawn?

There is hint for getting Ageless in the room but it is pretty vague, when your party walk into the room someone should step on the pressure plate and the weird sound from it is part of the hint. I think it is pretty cool for Bioware to hide a weapon like that.

Yeah, you get the codex clue by clicking on the throne. I had to explore a bit to find the pressure plates, but it was pretty clear from the codex what was going on.

Especially since by that point in the game the Warden has developed a specialty in freeing imprisoned demons/dragons/revenants so the party can kill them and take their stuff.

I just want Ageless to be fixed so it always has its two slots. It's easy to get when you know how, but there seems to be a pretty good chance it'll be missing its slots.

Because heaven forbid you  replay the game and get the sword, instead of waiting around for an expansion.
Sten can use it  if you don't feel like playing the game a second time as a two-hander

To be honest,  after using the sword for hours upon hours against both darkspawn and non-darkspawn, I've noticed no difference in the kills I've scored.  They're not any more "messy" than kills I've made using a different sword.

I have noticed one really odd thing about it though.    When I first acquired Ageless, it had no enchantment slots.  Then a few hours later (maybe after I leveled up?)  I looked at it and it suddenly had 2.  Aparently it 'upgraded' itself
while  in my hands.

"Weakens nearby darkspawn" is not implemented.

Neither is Messy Kills.

I will try that on my second play through. Thanks for the information.

My wife actually figured this out for us, I hadn't even noticed it on my first playthrough. She heard the click as she ran over the plate, once that happened she searched until she found more. It was easy to deduce how to operate them once that happened.

...well then, time for me to replace Ageless and Asturian's Might. :pinched:

I have had the sword for several levels and it has no rune slots. Can someone explain that issue to me more fully?

When I picked it up it was Tier 6, and had 2 rune slots. What Tier is the one you have?

Walking over the pressure plates was a clue that something was up in the palace. Of course I didn't make the connection until after reading about it on wikia.

Tier 6, but no rune slots.
