People say it so that people will get that their low N7 rank doesn't mean a ****ing thing. Most smart players just look at the loadout. I saw an N7 1700+ the other day with a Claymore III, so I knew they'd played less than the N7 210 in the same lobby that had a Piranha X.

sorry, but it sometimes dont work that way. i could buy packs with real money and get high ranking weapons. or i could save over a mil and when the new weapon comes out i can spam packs and get to X with ease

N7 rank doesn't make a better player. I always look T their load out. Played withe some amazing 120s in good and platinum.

I usually keep my favorite classes at 20 and promote the others. Gives me a nice mix of characters to play with. Also like to keep respec cards out of the mix.

Don't know about you but I don't have any problems playing on Bronze or Silver. Actually prefer Silver since it can be done in 15 minutes abd usually painless since it's more forgiving with PUGs and less drama involved.

I unfortunately work shifts. So PUGs is 99.9% oh my games. Besides I don't respec every 2-3 games (gold/silver) to justify the waste if a card slot per PSP.

I'm just giving one perspective of those who don't promote. Those who play exclusively Gold/Platinum with their level 20s make a lot of credits to give them a pretty steady stream of reset cards should they need them. If you only play those difficulties in PuGs and you promote, you're gonna have a lot of people voting to kick your level 1s, to the point that it's just faster (both in waiting times to find a game that doesn't kick you and your ability to contribute) to play as a level 20.

On another note, a non-PUG Platinum Glacier run can be done easily under 15 minutes without extractions (which non-promoters won't need.)

I promoted until I reached N7 500 so I can play Gold and Platinum without fearing the kick.
If a new dlc comes, I'll raise my rank to N7 600.

Why I do this?
I'm not a hipster, I'm just a lazy guy who hates start all over again.

Only promote when am in need of some fine tuning in my builds and don't have respec cards.
I really don't see the point in promoting except free respecs.

Same here...
Just promoted because I wanted to respec multiple Sentinels...
Only time I promote, now...also for N7 Operations...
I just like to play as fully powered characters...

I promoted a couple of times for laughs. Most of the time I don't care about N7 ranking because I play silver. Though lately, I have been playing a lot more gold.

I do promote but I do it as a challenge for myself. My N7 is approaching 1000 and I'm a little proud of myself considering I only get one or two days a week to play. So hate on haters, hate on.

I enjoy the challenge of playing a 1st level and going from 1st level to 11th after one match never gets old.

Yeah other than desperately wanting to respec I'm pretty much done promoting.
Single player war assets don't even matter to me, if I really ever want to boost my readiness I'll just solo some silver or bronze games. Honestly though, the single player was pretty much a gigantic let down, so I'm not really itching to really play through it again.

Can you please expand on that?

What does promoting in multiplayer have to do with the single player campaign.

I thought Galactic Readiness was the only shared factor.

Every promoted class becomes a permanent 25 (Edit: sorry, typo, 75!) point War Asset in the single player campaign. So, if you promote 20 times, you get 1500 points of War Assets, etc. Some people stopped promoting because having too many War Assets could lock them out of the worst endings as their EMS would be too high even at 50% readiness. But for those who prefer the high EMS endings anyway, I guess it doesn't really matter.

Yeah, but quite normally, you have a badass weapon level X, you hit hard, whatever your n7 level.

But, of course, there is always, always[ exception. That's the fun of the rules :)

However, I believe "promoting" should have a benefit, like 1 extra xp so you can "max out" a characters attributes all the way or you should get a free gear pack everytime you promote or you should should get +1% to weapon damage....etc.

Once you play through SP.....having a high N7 in MP means absolutely nothing.

I've never promoted, but I do have a question for those who have. Is it true that if you promote the class, all of your appearance options for the characters in that class resets, and you have to go around again collecting character cards for all of them? I've also heard that if you max out a character and then promote, you never get character cards for that character.

I promoted all the time cause I didn't want the gold character cards to go to waste. Once I stopped promoting and just played with my level 20 characters all the time, it got a little boring... Almost didn't feel like playing anymore.

Once I promoted and started over, it felt all good again. So that why I promote. Just too keep things interesting.

I used to promote all the time when we still got enough character cards to compensate that to some degree. But it became way too tedious when those bloody Ammo IV cards were added. I'd really like a toggle to never ever see one of those things again and get character cards instead of that garbage.

Once the appearance options are unlocked, they stay unlocked regardless of promoting.

Have no fear

Not true about losing appearance options
You will still get gold tier character cards unless you already have appearance options all unlocked.

Where are u getting this info, are they trying to scare u? I can grant u asylum on the collector ship.

@bloodshot
No, your characters reset but you retain your "training" and your lvl 1 will have all the customization options available.

Don't promote if you want to get kicked out of gold/plat lobbies.

I remember seeing a Destroyer with a Cerb Harrier X and a Piranha X get kicked out of a Plat lobby due to a N7 rank of 120. Funniest thing I saw in-game that entire day.

Once you reach level 20 with a class, you have the option to "promote" them. This resets the class to level 1, increases your N7 rating and increases your galactic readiness in single player. Since N7 rating doesn't really matter that much, there is no tangible benefit to promoting, other than stroking your e-peen with a high N7 rating.

FAIL. Most promote to respec, I do. Yes there are cards but as soon as I use one, I'm opening myself to get trolled in the packs. Every time I get a respec card, all I can think of is "That could have been a gear upgrade that I'm missing." Plus, it's better for me to save the respecs in case my freinds want to do Plat and I might have/want to change my build to fit in with what they are doing on the fly.

Plus my N7 is so high because of getting trolled by hundreds of character cards in the store. I got to the point where I'd save like 2 to 3 million, promote everything, THEN by my packs, just so the character cards weren't completely useless. Most of the time, that got everything back up to 20 which gave me the chance to try several different builds with every class till I fine tuned what works best for me with each one, which I think has made me a better player. Not the best, my ego isn't that big, lol, but definately 1000 times better then when I first played the MP.

I used to promote a lot, but now with so many good characters per class, I don't want to re-do every character.
