Yes.

Will it be as interesting? No.

You kidding? What can be more interesting than Krogan pirate?

Dinosaur krogan.

Does the idea not intrigue you?

No I was just dumbfounded by the apparent awesomeness of the combination of the words, Krogan; and Dinosaurs.

That's like saying Australian Dragon. It's glorious

No. I am not a Mass Effect fan: I am a Meersheploo fanatic.

Yes it can. And removing Master Chief from Halo would not cause the universe to explode. In fact, it's already been done.

Because the $60 map pack known as ODST worked perfectly

Here I was under the mistaken impression Reach didn't star Master Chief, either.

Actually, there's one mission where you can see them loading the cryo-frozen chief onto a ship.

Yes ME can survive without Shepard. New hero's will step up. New baddies and monsters will threaten the universe. How about those Krogans? They'll breed out all civilization in a decade. Rebel. And wipe out everything starting with the Salarians and Turians.

I will always miss Shepard tho'.

of course it can... Shepard got only interesting through the relationships he built.

Retiring Shepard would be like Ford retiring the Mustang.

Yup, I look forward to the future of the ME series without Shep.

I'm sure it can exist. I enjoy the novels and they lack Shep. However... I definitely played the games for Shepard, understand the world through Shepard, etc.

What I'm trying to say is... I want more Shepard. Because Shepard was my way into the universe. And I'm definitely not sick of her/him.

It sure can. In fact I hope it continues to exist. The universe is fascinating and open to every form of story telling and gameplay. MMORPG, basic shooter, RTS, shepard-free RPG. Plus movies, books, graphic novels, it's a never ending cash-cow.

It's like star wars but even less limited by time and enemies. They've created an entire galaxy, to limit themselves to the story of one guy would be a bad call.

It's a rich enough and well-developed enough universe that it doesn't need to rely on the established characters (even though they are arguably the best part of it).

I think it can. I mean, Shepard was really just a blank slate for us the players; if they give whatever new character we play as the same level of flexibility and customization I would think there wouldn't be any problems.

I can do without Shepard. It's the other characters I have a hard time imagining Mass Effect without.

I suppose it can, not for me though.

The only way I will even consider playing Mass Effect after Shepard is gone. Is if Shepard receives more love in these endings than is currently provided.

It wouldn't feel right moving on to a new protagonist knowning this one got ****ed.

They could do the Prothean cycle, and make Mass Effect: Reach

OR

They could have one of your crewmates take over the Normandy and fight a new threat while detailing the rebulding of the galaxy

OR

They can have you create a character that can be any sex, class and race that needs to take on a new threat, a la DA:O.

Yep, Mass Effect can live without Shepard. I want to role play a god damn Krogan already, Only problem is Shepard was castrated in the end... He/She did not go out in a bang as I was hoping for, but in a scandalous whimper.

The universe can exist without Shepard, but not without Drew.

Hopefully the next game (whatever they do) will fail miserably and they'll let the ME universe rest  :crying:

Shepard has been an integral part of the universe. It'd be like, removing Master Chief from Halo or removing The Fellowship from LotR.

Shepard's never really been integral after ME1, and Shepard was only integral to ME1 because of the Beacon.

In ME2, nearly the entire crew joins up for reasons and motivations unrelated to Shepard. Of a 12-man team and ship crew, only Tali and possibly Garrus join up for Shepard's sake. Jacob Taylor could have repeated role as a player character and the game would have worked just as well.

In ME3, Shepard is little more than a mix between a gopher and a representative for Hackett. That's a role more or less any Alliance soldier of exceptional caliber could do.

Given how easily Shepard could have been replaced in his/her own trilogy, continuing forward with other games would be easy.
