OMFG was that cutscene awesome and the battle ended up being EPIC!
I'm rolling with Ogren, Alistair and Morrigan and I have no ability to res someone once they go down. No clue what spells or special attacks will work on a giant blob of flesh with a dozen manboobs or its yellow named tentacles. Battle lasted about 15 minutes in real time because I had to micromanage every last move of my team to prevent a debacle, but man was that fun!!!! Morrigan came close to dying during knockdowns or stuns at least six times and managed to save her each time using different crowd control attacks from the other party members. I think the key to this battle is having someone always working on the queen while the rest of the characters are crowd controlling and cleaning up the tentacles and darkspawn.
The best part was my dual wielding rogue got the finishing blow and I actually jumped out of my chair and screamed with satisfaction at pulling it off without a reload!!!! Honestly, these finishing animations are just awesome!!!!
Having recently blown through levels 13-18, I've observed that there is a definite difficulty bell curve to the game. It seemed like my party was at a signficant disadvantage at level 13'ish and now for most fights I'm able to simply prep the battlefield and then go auto-party combat. Having a high stealth character makes this really easy and whenever there's a large group of mobs I'll do a little bit of ranged pulling to thin them out prior to stealthing in and throwing around some grenades before running mobs through a blizzard with some caltrop traps underneath.
Anyway, point of post was just to say "Hell yeah!" and see if anyone else thought it was cool.
Also, can those of you who have solo'd the game on nightmare, please tell me how you handled this battle? With no opportunity to prep the battlefield, I simply can't imagine how one character could solo this fight?
Cheers,
Rrend
