I have a companion noc which functions much as it should do except it does not gain any experience as the other members of the main party. Any thoughts on why this might be.

I have just thought that the scripts may be wrong I will go away and check that :)

Any other thoughts would be most welcomed. This small point is taking up a disproportionate amount of my time.

Have you set the designer xp thing in the properties to 1, did you use the reset level script when joining and not set the 1 too ? I also think I've seen something in either the campaign/module properties to do with companion xp weight that might do something but it's only a vague memory and I've certainly never touched it.

Heh, only half the stuff. I watch most posts and sigh loudly.

Out of interest how do you manage npc's in your mods. I need to get much better at pulling them in and out of the party and spawning them. thus far i am having a bad time with it and fudging my way but if this camapaign is going to work the way I want it to I need to be better.

What scripts do you use for this or are your npc's static in the party?

My NPC's tend to stay in the party but I have had a couple that just leave for good. If you want them to stay the same I think you have to set a meeting place when they first join ( it's in the conversation scripts ) that they can jump back to and await collection when they leave the roster, it might be possible to jump them in from there too I don't know.

Dumping them in a tavern until later could be done with the normal roster leaving conversation script but Casters could have their spells changed though as the reset level does it with the default feats etc so that could be a problem when they rejoin and your dual wielding gnome barbarian with a chopstick speciality that had been lovingly created by the player could suffer badly too !

I've just had a quick nose at the toolset whilst writing this and I think these might do it without changing the NPC and hopefully you can level them up if things have changed since they departed. They're all in the conversation scripts ( my personal favourite alongside Lilac Souls ).

On meeting.. ga_roster._add_object, ga_roster_selectable, ga_roster_party_add, ga_reset_level and ga_rm_set_hangout.

When you want them to leave.. ga_rm_go_hangout.

When you want them to appear.. ga_roster_spawn.

Then I think you'd use the same join up stuff again, I've never done it and this is just a guess but it could send you on the right track.

Tsongo.
