On PC, it isn't possible to alt-tab to the desktop if a load screen is going on. Always causes app failure to respond termination (at least on windows 7 64 bit). I don't know exactly what it would take to keep the game from crashing with alt-tab to desktop, but if this could be changed, please do so. An app capable of running while alt-tabbed is just so basic these days (though not necessarily an easy fix).

I just tested it and I can alt+tab out of loading screens without any problems. I use Windows 7 64-bit on a mid-range gaming PC. I noticed that alt+tabbing during loading screens was a bit smoother if I play in windowed mode without border (at native resolution so it's indistinguishable from fullscreen).

I use the windows 7 64-bit pro, quad core AMD, with a pair of nVidia SLI cards. I don't know, maybe that has something to do with it. Or maybe because my desktop resolution is different from my game resolution. But I have a 100% repeatable "application is not responding", instantly, if I try to alt-tab during any load screen. It just is not possible to alt-tab this way. As long as it isn't doing some sort of checking for download content, or joining a lobby, or going to a game, I can alt-tab fine though. Kind of makes me wonder how many people can or cannot alt-tab during load screens on a PC.

I have a quad-core AMD CPU as well, but with AMD GPU instead of Nvidia.
It could be a fairly unique problem. In ME1 my game crashes if I press F5 while sprinting. I tested it on my brother's PC, which is almost identical, and he doesn't have the problem.

I can alt-tab without any problems. It's something on your end. I would suggest installing the latest videocard drivers and verify your 3D settings in ATI or NVidia... a lot of these 3D settings can affect the way the game reacts to certain commands... I've been there.

No problems here, my desktop and game resolution is the same though.
