I've seen a few threads like this, and I'm with you. I finished ME3 once, chose destroy - played the ending again after EC was released and "accidentally" picked Refuse (shot starkid in the face). I tried a new playthrough, and I didn't even make it to Palaven. Guild Wars 2 is coming out soon, so I guess I'll just wait till then ...

Maybe it was because you were doing Soldier on Insanity?

Nah it's not because of that. I love pew-pewing enemies at a high difficulty.

On the other hand, MP in ME3 is pretty good.

It is, but it's getting pretty repetitive though. I wish they would add new modes to the MP.

The way I see it:

Terry Crews: Hey, you can have this really delicious steak if you want, it's quite a delicassy. I mean there's no other steak like it. But once you're done eating it, I'm going to punch you in the mouth. Still hungry?

That's what playing Mass Effect felt/feels like.

Exactly. Knowing what is in store for Shepard and my favorite character TIM makes playing ME1 and ME2 that much less enjoyable.

meh been thinking about playing through ME again, haven't started yet. Brings back all those old feelings though, kinda hate it lol

but i see shep as a character on his/her own, not just me role playing through him. so dislike how his/her story ends. Can tolerate it but think it can be better and think they could've done better with the ec but still kinda with you on the whole can't play it thing. i will but hate the emotions it stirs within me , usually i is heartless douche, hate these feelings

He WAS my favorite character until ME3 butchered him.

TIM had so much potential to become something totally awesome. Instead he became Saren 2.0. <_<

yeah i agree, would've been nice if he was still the "grey" guy instead of full on bad guy. be given the choice to side with the alliance or cerberus

i mean not have cerberus as a enemy but sort of ally, they still go for the goal of control but not be indoctrinated , and then you are given the choice to control basically siding with cerberus or destroy, or something like that but whatevers

They ruined Timmy just like they ruined Shepard. We fought more Cerberus than we actually did Reapers. Shows you just how wrong Mass Effect 3 was. Sometimes I think it should have been two games.

I think it would have been a nice plot-twist if we found out in ME3 that Cerberus never really went rogue and simply did what the Alliance wanted them to do. It would be nice if Cerberus was the "underhand" of the Alliance instead of an actual rogue black ops organisation.

Imagine The Illusive Man and Admiral Hackett meeting face to face and shaking hands like collegues instead of being enemies. Wouldn't that be an awesome twist?

kinda thought they were going to be "friends" from the end of arrival . or at least work together reluctantly. even when i first found out that cerberus was going to be a enemy, and people said that tim was indoctrinated i just figured he was trying to achieve a "noble" end but the means were not so noble and that kinda sparked conflict

or at least at the end be able to convince TIM without having to shoot him or have him shoot himself, reminded me a bit of ME1 ending.

Yeah that's what I thought. Arrival indeed gave the impression that Cerberus and the Alliance became allies. It would have been so awesome if Cerberus and the Alliance actually worked together in ME3.

Meh. The Witcher 2 has the finess and tells an amazing tale, but no one can touch the heart as good as BioWare games. If Geralt died I'd be sad, yes, but when Shepard died, I was in tears crying "live you ****ing ****! Live!" Sorry the opinions of others influence so many people. Especially if you go to those TW2 forums. Their hate for BioWare and love for CDPR will eventually be their downfall once CDPR goes off track record.

It is known.

Agree with that about TW, and I fully expect it to all end in a mess. The big difference is that it won't really put me off the existing games (I expect), firstly because that's how it's always felt that it'll end, and secondly beause I've simply not become anywhere near as attached to the characters in it. That's the downside of good characterisation - however things turn out I'll still feel down about it if it doesn't turn out OK for my friends, just like I would in reality (but not as badly of course, I've not totally lost my grip on reality).

To the OP.

I can relate to your sorrow. When I did my first full trilogy run I encountered Soveriegn and felt like it was all for nothing. I freed the rachni knowing that I would never see them help me. And I saved the council knowing that it would play out the same in the end.

Bioware always gave us the illusion of control. When you look at it, Mass effect 1 - 3 is very linear with tiny tiny rifts in the mechanics and story/consequences.

You save the rachni in ME1 - they get captured in ME3
You kill the rachni in ME1 - They get recreated in ME3 - I head one person say that scions would be a good substitute

You saved the council in ME1 - You see them in ME2 and the dialog in ME3 doesn't change much if at all
You kill the council in ME1 - You don't see them in ME2 and the dialog in ME3 doesnt' change much (the salarian councilor thanks you for killing his predecessor, turian councilor comments how you saved him twice, and IDK what asari councillor does)

Point is, Bioware always gave us the illusion of control. And in the end that built up and built up more are more expectation driving to the thrid game that they could not deliver. It would have been great to see war assets fighting with you in the space battle (rachni, geth, quarian, hanar, volus, Destiny Ascention) but it won't happen. It would have been great to fight with your war assets on the ground - but they couldn't do that either because of time or too much complexity.

Maybe if/when EA is bought out they will remake ME3 lol. Till then my friend take heart, there are more games and know that there are MANY  people with a myriad of skill sets that seek to mod the game. Maybe this could be a calling for you to go into game development and gain the knowledge to mod the game :) That is what I would love to do one day.

Well, that sucks. I hope you'll find something else to play, then.

I guess that I'm kinda lucky that I liked the rest of ME3 up until the endings.

I also tried going back to ME1, but your right knowing whats ahead in ME3 makes it completely irrelevant what u do, also the gameplay didn't help......im still at 1 playthrough with ME3 aswell, and that alone speaks volumes of how crap it was. DA2/TOR/ME3 3 strikes and your out.......but on a side note ive enjoyed moaning about it.

Totally agree, I just can't enjoy parts of the trilogy anymore, I have recently replayed through 1 and 2 with my femshep engineer, and it all feels so futile, if I manage to drift off, so to speak, and forget about how 3 ruins aspects of the story, it feels like a lot more fun.
Been playing other games instead.

I lost myself in Skyrim for about two months, only coming back to ME3 for multiplayer events. It helped. I have hope that some future dlc may yet rekindle the dying spark of this series; a properly done IT dlc would be neat, but I would not expect such a thing this year.
