can we assume you consider sweet, sweet lovin' to be a poor return for a few gifts, some touchy-feely conversation, and the occasional act of homicide. :-)
Oh sorry didn't see your post until now:
Excluding love I mean, silly. But what of the other companions? Mainly just a bit of respect for my choices would be LOVELY! After all, that leadership bonus of inspiration isn't there for nothing right? Got that for making the right choices

What did you expect from them when you started playing? They agreed to follow PC into battle where they most likely will be smashed into bits by an ogre. The moment in DC where Alistair gaze upon Morrigan's dead body (bloodied and broken) made me like her even more in normal game - companions are ready to die fighting under PC's command, that's maximum respect already.
Some characters do a POOR job of showing a little appreciation in return for what the Warden can do. As a warrior, and a tank might I add, I felt I actually stuck my neck out for them more. I am serious, Sten and Shale give the Warden nothing but a bunch of crap since day one of recruitment, and my Warden specifically was really nice to them the whole time. It's like offering a tray of cookies to Sten and getting kicked in the nuts instead of a thank you.
I didn't play DC yet, but I shouldn't have to find out in some late late patch and/or optional story how much these chars are willing to stay with me, instead of early on. Just something I felt I had to get off my chest is all, but I should probably stop now, I don't want to turn this into the Diablo 3 site or nothing.
